Scope1.1 This test method is suitable for both field and laboratoryuse to obtain a permanent record of concrete surf

3、ace profileusing replica putty and to determine the depth of that surfaceprofile.NOTE 1The procedure in this standard was developed for concretesubstrates but may be appropriate for other rigid substrates.1.2 A profile can be imparted to concrete by variousmethods such as blast cleaning and acid etc

The depth ofthe surface profile has been shown to be a factor in coatingadhesion and performance.1.3 The International Concrete Repair Institute (ICRI) pro-vides a means of visually judging a concrete surface by use ofnine different visual comparators called Concrete SurfaceProfiles (CSP). Summary of Test Method4.1 Method AReplica putty is used to obtain a replicacoupon of a concrete

10、 surface that has been abraded orroughened. The replica coupon is visually compared to the nineICRI Visual Comparators (CSP), or to a specific job standard.4.2 Method BReplica putty is used to obtain a replicacoupon of a concrete surface that has been abraded orroughened. The replica coupon is then

11、measured by a speciallydesigned micrometer to obtain a quantitative measurement ofsurface profile (depth).5. Significance and Use5.1 For proper bonding of overlays and coatings, it isimportant that a concrete surface have the correct surfaceprofile. This test method allows one to obtain a permanentr

12、eplica of the concrete surface, which can then be compared tovisual profile standards, or evaluated quantitatively for profiledepth. 17、Standardization7.1 Zero the micrometer prior to each measurement sessionin accordance with the manufacturers instructions.7.2 Micrometer accuracy should be checked by measuring ashim of known thickness and confirming results are within thecombined tolerances of both the micrometer and the shim.8. Pr

18、ocedure8.1 Method A:8.1.1 Select a sufficient number of locations to characterizethe surface, as specified or agreed upon between the interestedparties.8.1.2 At each location clean the surface with a brush toremove loose material.8.1.3 Prepare the replica putty in accordance with themanufacturers in

19、structions.8.1.4 Place the mixed replica putty into a plastic profiler,mounding the putty in the middle.8.1.5 Place the plastic profiler onto the concrete, putty sidedown. Step on or push the plastic profiler until the shoulderstouch the concrete surface (see Fig. 1). Do not remove theplastic profil

20、er.8.1.6 After sufficient time to cure in accordance with themanufacturers instructions twist the plastic profiler and re-move it from the hardened putty (replica coupon).8.1.7 Peel the replica coupon from the concrete surface andnumber the back (smooth) side for future reference.8.1.8 Visually comp

21、are the replica coupon to the ICRI CSPvisual comparators, and determine which comparator is visu-ally closest to the surface appearance of the replica coupon.8.2 Method B:8.2.1 Follow steps 8.1.1-8.1.7 of Method A.8.2.2 On each replica coupon take at least ten micrometermeasurements in different loc

22、ations ensuring some measure-ments are taken in the bottoms of the valleys and somemeasurements are taken on the tops of the peaks (see Fig. 2).8.2.3 Subtract the lowest thickness measurement from thehighest thickness measurement to determine the profile rangefor each replica coupon.9. Report9.1 Rep

23、ort the following information:9.1.1 Date, test location, and replica coupon label numbers.9.1.2 Test Method used (A, B, or both).9.1.2.1 For Method A, record the number of the closestmatching ICRI CSP visual comparator.9.1.2.2 For Method B, record the difference between thelowest and highest peak-to

Precision and Bias510.1 The precision of this test method i

26、s based on aninterlaboratory study of Test Method D7682 for Replicationand Measurement of Concrete Surface Profiles Using ReplicaPutty, conducted in 2009. Four laboratories participated in thisstudy. Each of the labs reported five replicate test results fornine different materials. Every “test resul

27、t” reported representsthe difference between the maximum and minimum reportedresult for a set of ten grouped measurements. Except for the useof only four laboratories, Practice E691 was followed for thedesign and analysis of the data; the details are given in ASTMResearch Report RR: D011156.10.1.1 R

28、epeatability Limit (r)Two test results obtainedwithin one laboratory shall be judged not equivalent if theydiffer by more than the “r” value for that material; “r”istheinterval representing the critical difference between two testresults for the same material, obtained by the same operatorusing the

29、same equipment on the same day in the samelaboratory.10.1.1.1 Repeatability limits are listed in Table 1.10.1.2 Reproducibility Limit (R)Two test results shall bejudged not equivalent if they differ by more than the “R” valuefor that material; “R” is the interval representing the criticaldifference

30、between two test results for the same material,obtained by different operators using different equipment indifferent laboratories.10.1.2.1 Reproducibility limits are listed in Table 2.10.1.3 The above terms (repeatability limit and reproduc-ibility limit) are used as specified in Practice E177.10.1.

31、4 Any judgment in accordance with statements 10.1.1and 10.1.2 would normally have an approximate 95 % prob-ability of being correct, however the precision statistics ob-tained in this ILS must not be treated as exact mathematicalquantities which are applicable to all circumstances and uses.The limit

32、ed number of laboratories reporting results guaranteesthat there will be times when differences greater than predictedby the ILS results will arise, sometimes with considerablygreater or smaller frequency than the 95 % probability limitwould imply. Consider the repeatability limit and the repro-duci

33、bility limit as general guides, and the associated probabil-ity of 95 % as only a rough indicator of what can be expected.10.2 BiasAt the time of the study, there was no acceptedreference material suitable for determining the bias for this testmethod, therefore no statement on bias is being made.10.

34、3 The precision statement was determined through sta-tistical examination of 180 results, from four laboratories, onnine specimens.
