Materials and Manufacture3.1 Base Asphalt EmulsionThis emulsion shall be madeusing binders prepared from crude petroleum.3.2 Mineral Filler (when used), shall consist of finelyground clay,
9、 silica, limestone, slate, basalt, slag, or other inertinorganic filler materials.3.3 AggregateThe aggregate shall be either a natural ormanufactured angular aggregate composed of clean, hard,durable particles free of clay or other objectionable material.Aggregate used shall follow the manufacturers
10、 recommenda-tions; however, in all cases, 100 % of the aggregate shall passa 2.38 mm No. 8 mesh-sieve. Aggregate may either be addedat the point of manufacture, post-added at the job site, or both.3.4 AdditiveThe optional use of an additive shall beapproved by the asphalt emulsion pavement sealer ma
11、nufac-turer.4. Physical Requirements4.1 The manufacturer shall approve the asphalt emulsionpavement sealer as to the specific composition to be used in themix design.4.2 The asphalt emulsion pavement sealer shall be ofsmooth, uniform consistency without separation or settlementin storage to the exte
12、nt that it cannot be readily dispersed byordinary stirring.4.3 The asphalt emulsion pavement sealer shall be ofsuitable consistency for application above 10C 50F in filmsby mechanical squeegee/brush equipment, or spray equipmentcapable of spraying coatings with aggregate without heating,and shall bo
