Mechanical Properties6.1 The heater materials of construction shall be easilycleaned of surface mud and grime with no degr
12、adation of theunits ability to perform its function.6.2 The preferred fuels for the heater section of the portableair heater are diesel fuel, gasoline, or bottled propane gas. Ifelectricity is used, the circuit shall be no more than 120 V, 30A, single phase, and shall conform to NFPA 70 for outdooru

Performance Requirements7.1 Be ab
16、le to provide a continuous flow of warm airbetween 27 and 35C (80 and 95F) at a flow rate of not lessthan 0.24 m3/s (500 ft3/min).7.2 The input line shall be filtered using an ASTM Number7 filter (manufactured according to Specification E11)toremove solid contaminants that might damage the equipment
17、or injure the personnel in the shelter.NOTE 3The air inlet will provide suction to the area around the inlet.The user may wish to provide a design to prevent covering or clogging theinlet with debris and suitable marking devices to warn users of the inletssuction.Additionally, as specified, the inle
18、t filter is not intended to protectagainst chemical and biological warfare agents. The sole intended purposeof the inlet filter is to protect the air heater device from debris that may beattracted to it as a result of the suction of the inlet.7.3 Be capable of providing warm air flow within thetempe
19、rature range specified in 7.1 within 2 min of beingsupplied 20 to +35C (4 to +95F) feed air.8. Other Requirements8.1 Contain sufficient hoses as part of the unit packaging toallow for an air intake up to 15.24 m (50 ft) distant and providewarm air to a shelter up to 7.62 m (25 ft) from the unit. The
20、warm air outlet duct from the unit shall be able to connect toa 15-cm (6-in.) duct.9. Dimensions, Mass, and Permissible Variations9.1 The unit shall be man-transportable by not more thanfour first responders carrying the assembled unit and not weighmore than 91 kg (200 lb) not including the fuel and
21、 hoses.TEST METHODS10. Scope10.1 These test methods shall be used to insure portable airheaters comply with the requirements of this specification.11. Significance and Use11.1 The use of these acceptance tests will insure thatorganizations buying portable heaters will be assured theheaters meet cert
22、ain performance requirements.12. Hazards12.1 Personnel using this portable air heater should takeprecautions against normal industrial hazards, such as fire andtemperature hazards or accumulation of exhaust. They shallalso comply with all other manufacturers warnings whenusing the equipment.13. Proc
23、edure13.1 Measurement of the Air Heater Units Air Flow:13.1.1 The testing facility shall obtain an air flow meter(certified to Practice D 3195) with a current calibration in the0.0833- to 0.333-m3/s flow regime for the units hot air side.13.1.2 Install the flow meter as specified by the manufac-ture
24、rs instructions on the warm air outlet of the heater unit.13.1.3 Begin operation of the air heater unit, in accordancewith the manufacturers instructions.13.1.4 Allow 2 min to pass, as measured by a calibratedstopwatch certified by NIST Recommended Practice GuideSpecial Publication 960-12.13.1.5 Rec
25、ord the flow rate of the warm air as detected bythe flow meter, perform follow-on recordings either using anautomated continuous recording device (with physical checksof the device being performed hourly to insure continuedoperation of the air heater unit), or manually recording the flowrate on an h
26、ourly basis. The warm air measurement shall takeplace at the warm air outlet, at least 7.62 m (25 ft) from theunit. The warm air outlet hose shall be exposed to the sameambient air temperatures as used for the air introduced into theheater system.13.1.6 Maintain operation of the air heater unit for
27、aminimum of 12 h to insure the air heater unit can continuouslysupply warm air at this rate.13.2 Measurement of the Air Heater Units Air Input andOutput Temperatures:13.2.1 The testing facility shall obtain an air temperaturemeter (certified to ASTM Manual MNL 125) with a currentcalibration in the 2
28、5 to +35C range for the cold air inlet andthe units warm air outlet.13.2.2 Install the temperature meters as specified by themanufacturers instructions on the inlet and outlet of the airheater unit.13.2.3 Begin operation of the unit, in accordance with themanufacturers instructions.13.2.4 Allow 2 mi
29、n to pass, as measured by a calibratedstopwatch certified by NIST Recommended Practice GuideSpecial Publication 960-12.13.2.5 Record the temperature of the inlet and outlet air asdetected by the temperature meters, perform follow-on record-ings either using an automated continuous recording device(w
30、ith physical checks of the device being performed hourly toinsure continued operation of the unit), or manually recordingthe temperatures on an hourly basis. The warm air measure-ment shall take place at the warm air outlet, at least 7.62 m (25ft) from the unit and with the temperature of the ambien
31、t airsurrounding the outlet duct being the same as the temperatureof the air entering the unit.13.2.6 Maintain operation of the unit for a minimum of 12h to insure the air heater unit can continuously supply warm airat this temperature.14. Precision and Bias14.1 The precision and bias from the refer
32、enced standardsshall apply to the measurements required by this specification.15. Inspection15.1 Inspection of the material shall be agreed upon be-tween the purchaser and the supplier as part of the purchaseorder or contract.16. Rejection and Rehearing16.1 Material that fails to conform to the requ
