3、quisition equipment by specifyingthe image data transfer and archival storage in commonlyaccepted terms. This document is intended to be used inconjunction with Practice E2339 on Digital Imaging andCommunication in Nondestructive Evaluation (DICONDE).Practice E2339 defines an industrial adaptation o

4、f the NEMAStandards Publication titled Digital Imaging and Communica-tions in Medicine (DICOM, see http:/medical.nema.org), aninternational standard for image data acquisition, review,storage and archival storage. The goal of Practice E2339,commonly referred to as DICONDE, is to provide a standardth

5、at facilitates the display and analysis of NDE results on anysystem conforming to the DICONDE standard. Toward thatend, Practice E2339 provides a data dictionary and a set ofinformation modules that are applicable to all NDE modalities.This practice supplements Practice E2339 by providing infor-mati

6、on object definitions, information modules and a datadictionary that are specific to eddy current test methods.1.2 This practice has been developed to overcome the issuesthat arise when analyzing or archiving data from eddy currenttest equipment using proprietary data transfer and storagemethods. As

7、 digital technologies evolve, data must remaindecipherable through the use of open, industry-wide methodsfor data transfer and archival storage. This practice defines amethod where all the eddy current technique parameters andinspection data are communicated and stored in a standardmanner regardless

8、 of changes in digital technology.1.3 This practice does not specify:1.3.1 A testing or validation procedure to assess an imple-mentations conformance to the standard,1.3.2 The implementation details of any features of thestandard on a device claiming conformance, or1.3.3 The overall set of features

9、 and functions to be ex-pected from a system implemented by integrating a group ofdevices each claiming DICONDE conformance.1.4 Although this practice contains no values that requireunits, it does describe methods to store and communicate datathat do require units to be properly interpreted. The val

10、uesstated in SI units are to be regarded as standard. No other unitsof measurement are included in this standard.1.5 This standard does not purport to address all of thesafety concerns, if any, associated with its use. The data dictionary andinformation modules common to all NDE modalities aredefined in Practice E2339.4.2 The data dictionary and information modules specifiedin Practice E2339 do not cover the information storagerequirements for each individual modality (ComputedTo

18、mography, Digital Radiography, Computed Radiography,Ultrasonic, etc.). Additions to the data dictionary and informa-tion modules are required to support the individual modalities.This practice contains the additions to the DICONDE datadictionary and information modules necessary for eddy currentinsp

19、ection.4.3 The highest organizational level in the DICONDEinformation model is the information object definition (IOD).The information object definition is a collection of informationmodules necessary to represent a set of examination resultsfrom a specific modality. This practice contains informati

20、onobject definitions necessary for eddy current inspection.5. Significance and Use5.1 Personnel that are responsible for the creation, transfer,and storage of eddy current NDE test results will use thisstandard. This practice defines a set of information modulesthat along with the Practice E2339 and

21、 the DICOM standardprovides a standard means to organize eddy current testparameters and results. The eddy current examination resultsmay be displayed or analyzed on any device that conforms tothe standard. Personnel wishing to view any eddy currentexamination data stored according to Practice E2339

22、 may usethis document to help them decode and display the datacontained in the DICONDE compliant inspection record.6. Information Object Definitions6.1 Eddy Current Image IOD Description6.1.1 The Eddy Current (EC) Image Information ObjectDefinition specifies an image that has been created by an Eddy

23、Current imaging device for NDE purposes. The IOD definitionis found in Table 1. Note that eddy current has no equivalentmedical imaging modality. While the IOD definition utilizesstandard information modules from the DICOM standard thereexists no EC IOD within the DICOM standard.6.1.2 Since there is

24、 no EC IOD within the DICOM standardthe option of using a DICOM Standard Extended Service-Object Pair (SOP) Class does not exist.ASOP Class Name andUnique Identifier (UID) have been provided to the EC IOD inTable 3. Note that since this is not a DICOM SOP Class, manystandard DICOM image display and

25、storage tools may notaccept these images.6.2 Eddy Current Multi-Frame Image6.2.1 The Eddy Current Multi-Frame (EC-MF) Image In-formation Object Definition specifies a multi-frame image thathas been created by an Eddy Current imaging device for NDEpurposes. The IOD definition is found in Table 2. Not

26、e thateddy current multi-frame has no equivalent medical imagingmodality. While the IOD definition utilizes standard informa-tion modules from the DICOM standard there exists no EC-MFIOD within the DICOM standard.6.2.2 Since there is no EC-MF IOD within the DICOMstandard the option of using a DICOM

27、Standard ExtendedService-Object Pair (SOP) Class does not exist. A SOP ClassName and Unique Identifier (UID) have been provided to theEC-MF IOD in Table 3.
