Summary of Guide4.1 DICOM provides rich methods for managing thedisplay,

21、transfer and storage of a wide variety of digital testdata. An explicit list of the digital data covered can be found inthe DICOM standard. These modalities are referred to asStandard SOP Classes.4.2 DICOM provides the flexibility to address the storage ofdigital data not expressly defined in a Stan

22、dard SOP Class.4.2.1 Standard Extended SOP Classes extend Standard SOPClasses with additional data that is user optional. Use of aStandard Extended SOP Class does not impact the interoper-ability of the SOP Class.4.2.2 Specialized SOP Classes are derived from StandardSOP Class but include changes to

23、 the mandatory data associ-ated with the SOP Class. Use of a Specialized SOP Class doesimpact interoperability and requires updates to the DICOM andDICONDE standards to ensure interoperability.4.3 The DICONDE standard is comprised of both StandardExtended and Specialized SOP Classes.4.3.1 Standard E

24、xtended SOP Classes are utilized whenthere is a medical imaging modality that closely aligns with anondestructive test method. Examples of this are E2663DICONDE for Ultrasonic Test Methods and E2699 DICONDEfor Digital Radiographic Test Methods. The DICONDE stan-dard practices that utilize Standard E

25、xtended SOP Classesmaintain the most interoperability with DICOM compliantdevices.4.3.2 Specialized SOP Classes are utilized for test methodsthat do not have an equivalent medical imaging modality. Anexample of this is E2934 DICONDE for Eddy Current TestMethods. In this case, the DICOM standard offi

In most cases, DICOM compliantdevices will not accept the data since it is not a DICOMStandard SOP Class.4.3.3 The purpose of DICONDE is to provide a standardway to universally access the NDT data and associatedmetadata produced by NDT systems. DICONDE facilitates theinte

It describes a standard protocol to display, transfer, andstore the NDT data, utilizing the protocol established byDICOM, providing a means to automatically and transparentlycommunicat

37、DICOM SOP classes are documented in theDICONDE standard practice documents. As shown in Fig. 2,itis necessary for the user of a DICONDE standard practice torefer to both Part 3 and Part 6 of the DICOM standard toidentify all the metadata required for interoperability.6.1.2 Some of the metadata added

Users of the DICONDE test-method-specificstandard practices will need to refer to E2339 to identify all themetadata required for interoperability as

43、rd practice.6.3 A test method with digital data that does not have ananalog in medical imaging should utilize a Specialized SOPClass by creating a test-method-specific DICONDE standardpractice.6.4 A DICONDE conformance statement is a technicaldocument that outlines the relevant services supported by

44、 theproduct including specific SOP Classes. The DICONDE stan-dard permits not supporting all DICONDE SOP Classes. Theconformance statement is the primary method of determining ifa product is appropriate for a given application. Interpretingconformance statements starts with information found inE3147

45、 on the interoperability of DICONDE systems. Addi-tional supporting information can be found in Part 2 of theDICOM standard as well as the general and test-method-specific DICONDE standards. The relationship is shown inFig. 4.6.5 DICONDE products should be able to display and storeNDT data such that

46、 this data can be universally accessed asdescribed in the products conformance statement. Validatingthe DICONDE product may be done in isolation. Recom-mended validation testing protocols for DICONDE manufac-turers against a reference validator are provided in E3147 onthe interoperability of DICONDE

47、 products. The examplereference validator can be modified to include new StandardExtended SOP Classes and Specialized SOP Classes.6.6 DICONDE products should be able to communicatewith DICONDE products from diverse manufacturers as de-scribed in the products conformance statement. Testing theinterop

48、erability of a DICONDE product cannot be done inisolation. While interoperability testing can be done against areference implementation of the DICONDE standard, to ensureinteroperability, testing should be done with DICONDE prod-ucts from multiple manufacturers. Recommended interoper-ability testing

49、 protocols for DICONDE manufacturers againstboth a reference implementation and DICONDE products fromother manufacturers are provided in E3147 on the interoper-ability of DICONDE products.6.7 Purchasers of DICONDE products that are required tocommunicate with other DICONDE products need a method toverify the interoperability of those products. It is impossible forthe manufacturers of DICONDE products to test the interop-erability of their product against all other products claimingDICONDE conformance. The purchaser needs to verify theinteroperability of products before purchase.
