3、epartment of Defense.1. Scope*1.1 This practice covers the installation of suspended sys-tems for acoustical tile and lay-in panels and their additionalrequirements for two groups of buildings that are constructedto resist the effects of earthquake motions as defined by ASCE7 and the International B

These groupings are forSeismic Design Category C and Seismic Design Categories D,E and F.1.2 The authority having jurisdiction shall determine theapplicability of this practice.1.3 Test Methods E3090/E3090M, Specification C635, andPractice C636 cover suspension systems, their installat

The values stated in each system are not exactequivalents; therefore, each system shall be used independentlyof the o

Combining values from the two systems result innonconformance with the specification.1.10 This standard does not purport to address all of thesafety concerns, if any, associated with its use. This, coupledwith general observations from the earthquake prone areas inCalifornia have lead to the original practice.X1.2 Actual earthquake experience (most notablyNorthridge and Loma Prieta earthquakes) has shown that threemain th

This

There has beenalso a gene

This coupledwith the coming of next generation of performance basedseismic codes has lead to new interest in clear and conciserequirements for installation of ceiling systems.
