3、est method covers a procedure for measuring thecohesion/adhesion or bond strength (tensile) perpendicular tothe surface of sprayed fire-resistive material (SFRM) applied torigid backing. These fire-resistive materials include sprayedfibrous and cementitious materials. The test method is appli-cable

4、to both laboratory and field procedures as indicated inSection 7.1.2 The values stated in either SI units or inch-pound unitsare to be regarded separately as standard. Summary of Test Method3.1 The cohesion/adhesion is determined using a metal orplastic cap with a hook

9、 attached. The cap is attached to theSFRM with a suitable adhesive. An increasing load, measuredby a scale, is applied manually until failure occurs.4. Significance and Use4.1 The intent of this test method is to determine a propertyof SFRM that may be used to provide an indication of itsin-place se

10、rviceability. Satisfactory performance of SFRMapplied to structural members and assemblies depends upon itsability to withstand the various influences that may occurduring construction and during the life of the structure, as wellas upon its satisfactory performance under fire conditions.4.2 For coh

11、esion/adhesion testing of installed asbestos-containing sprayed fire-resistive materials, refer to PracticeE1494.5. Apparatus5.1 Fig. 1 illustrates a suitable apparatus.5.2 Bottle Screw Cap,3metal or rigid plastic 51 mm to83 mm 2 in. to 314 in. in diameter and 12 mm 12 in. innominal depth. A hook sh

(16 ga)thick, 300 mm 12 in. square, cleaned with solvent to removeany oil from surface to be sprayed.5.6 Drying Oven, capable of maintainin

18、g temperature andhumidity conditions during the specimen curing cycle, inaccordance with the SFRM manufacturers published require-ments.6. Sampling6.1 This test method requires the application of SFRM inaccordance with manufacturers published instructions. Theapparatus, materials, and procedures use

19、d to spray apply theSFRM for this test shall be representative of application in thefield.6.2 The density of the prepared specimens shall be similarto the density tested and reported during the Test Methods E84and E119 fire exposure tests of the same material, or asrequired by the sponsor of the tes

20、t.6.3 Determine and report in accordance with Test MethodsE605/E605M the density and thickness of each sample, or of arandomly selected specimen from the sample lot when anumber of identical samples are being tested for the laboratory-prepared samples. For the field specimens, determine thedensity f

21、rom material adjacent to the test specimen.7. Test Specimen7.1 Laboratory Tests:7.1.1 The SFRM shall be applied at a thickness of 12 to25 mm 12 to 1 in. to the 300 by 300 mm 12 by 12 in.galvanized steel sheet.7.1.2 Condition the specimen at room temperature(20 6 10 C 68 6 18 F). After 72 h, samples

22、may be forcedried in a drying oven at 43 6 6C 1106 10 F, and arelative humidity not greater than 60 % until successiveweight5readings, taken at 8 h intervals, differ by less than onepercent.7.1.3 Testing may be performed after it has been determinedthat all samples have reached constant weight as de

23、fined in7.1.2.7.2 Field Tests:7.2.1 The test specimen shall be the in-place SFRM asapplied to any field condition surface. Where a 300 by 300-mm12 by 12-in. area is not available, such as on beams and fluteddeck, use the width of the beam or the width of a flute by300 mm 12 in. length. The area shal

24、l be at least 100 by300 mm 4 by 12 in. See 5.2 for exceptions.7.2.2 Condition the specimen at atmospheric conditions orin accordance with the manufacturers recommendations for aperiod sufficient to be considered dry.7.2.3 Mechanical ventilation may be employed on themanufacturers recommendation to e

25、xpedite drying.8. Procedure8.1 Apply adhesive sufficient to fill the metal or plastic cap,and immediately place the cap against the surface of theSFRM. Refer to Fig. 2.8.2 Support the cap at the surface until the adhesive hasadequately cured. Wipe away any excess adhesive around thecap before it cur

26、es, or carefully cut it away after it cures.8.3 Laboratory Tests:8.3.1 Restrain the specimen with the SFRM facing up toprevent movement and flexing during testing. The orientationof the specimen in Fig. 2 shows the SFRM facing down.8.3.2 Engage the scale with the hook and exert an increasingforce at

27、 a minimum uniform or incremental rate of approxi-mately 5 kg 11 lb min perpendicular to the surface.8.3.3 Force shall be applied until failure occurs, a predeter-mined value is reached, or until the capacity of the scale isreached.8.3.4 Record the force in newtons pounds-force at the timefailure oc

28、curs or other end point is reached.8.4 Field Tests:8.4.1 Perform tests as described in 8.3.2 8.3.4.8.4.2 A nondestructive field test may be performed byreplacing the scale (see 5.4) with a fixed weight that must besupported for 1 min.4Suitable adhesives are commercially available.
