Scope1.1 This specification cov

3、ers hot-dipped galvanized weldedsteel pipe in NPS 1 (Note 1) to NPS 8, inclusive, with nominal(average) wall thickness as given in Table 1 and Table 2. Pipehaving other dimensions (Note 2) may be furnished providedsuch pipe complies with all other requirements of this specifi-cation. Pipe ordered un

Ordering Information3.1 Orders for material under this specification shall includethe following as required, to describe the desired materialadequately:3.1.1 Specification designation,3.1.2 Quantity (feet, metres, or number of lengths),3.1.3 Name of material (steel pipe),3.1.4 Method of ma

9、nufacture (electric-resistance welded orfurnace welded),3.1.5 Grade (Regular, Intermediate, or High Strength83 000) Intermediate Strength Grade available for sizes NPS 5(125) and larger. Regular and High Strength 83 000 Gradesare available for all sizes.3.1.6 Type (Table 1 or Table 2),3.1.7 Size (NP

10、S designator and weight class; or outsidediameter and nominal wall),3.1.8 Length (see Section 14),3.1.9 Certification (see 18.1), and3.1.10 Selection of applicable level of preservation andpackaging required, if other than in accordance with PracticesA 700 (see 20.1).4. Process4.1 The steel for weld

11、ed pipe shall be made by one or moreof the following processes: electric-furnace, open hearth, orbasic-oxygen. The steel for welded pipe shall be of softweldable quality.4.2 Welded pipe NPS 4 and under may be butt-welded,unless otherwise specified. Welded pipe over NPS 4 shall beelectric-welded.5. C

12、oating5.1 Pipe shall be coated with zinc inside and outside by thehot-dip process.5.2 The zinc used for the coating shall be any grade of zincconforming to Specification B6.1This specification is under the jurisdiction of Committee F14 on Fences and isthe direct responsibility of Subcommittee F14.40

Tensile Requirements6.1 Pipe furnished to this specification shall meet thefollowing minimum tensile requirements when tested in accor-dance with Test Methods E8.6.1.1 Tensile Strength:6.1.1.1 Regular GradeMinimum tensile strength

16、shall be48 000 psi 330 MPa.6.1.1.2 Intermediate Strength GradeMinimum tensilestrength shall be 60 000 psi 414 MPa for sizes NPS 5 (125)and larger.6.1.1.3 High Strength 83 000 GradeMinimum tensilestrength shall be 85 000 psi 585 MPa.6.1.2 Yield Strength:6.1.2.1 Regular GradeMinimum yield strength sha

17、ll be30 000 psi 205 MPa.6.1.2.2 Intermediate Strength GradeMinimum yieldstrength shall be 50 000 psi 344 MPa for sizes NPS 5 (125)and larger.6.1.2.3 High Strength 83 000 GradeMinimum yieldstrength shall be 83 000 psi 572 MPa.7. Weight of Coating7.1 The weight of zinc coating shall be not less than 1

18、.8oz/ft2550 g/m2, as determined from the average results of thetwo specimens taken for test in accordance with 10.1 and notless than 1.6 oz/ft2490 g/m2 for either of these specimens.The weight of coating expressed in ounces per square foot shallbe calculated by dividing the total weight of zinc, ins

19、ide plusoutside, by the total area, inside plus outside, of the surfacecoated. Each specimen shall have not less than 1.3 oz/ft2400g/m2 of zinc coating on each surface, calculated by dividingthe total weight of zinc on the given surface (outside or inside)by the area of the surface coated (outside o

20、r inside).8. Weight of Coating Test8.1 Determine the weight of zinc coating by a strip test inaccordance with Test Method A 90/A 90M. The total zinc oneach specimen shall be determined in a double strippingoperation.9. Test Specimens9.1 Test specimens for determination of weight of coatingshall be c

21、ut approximately 4 in. 102 mm in length. Specimensof toprail and brace material shall be taken from the ends ofmill lengths. Specimens of post material shall be cut from thelength from which the post is to be cut. Under no circum-stances shall specimens of post material be taken after the postis cut

28、r of Tests10.1 Two test specimens for the determination of weight ofcoating shall be taken, one from each end of one length ofgalvanized pipe, selected at random from each lot of 500lengths or fraction thereof of each size.10.1.1 For purposes of testing, a lot shall consist of not morethan 500 lengt

29、hs of pipe of the same type, grade, size, andweight.10.1.2 For electric-resistance welded pipe, one tensile testshall be made on one length of pipe from each lot of 500lengths, or fraction thereof, of each size. A length is defined asthe length as ordered, except that in the case of orders for cutle

30、ngths shorter than single random, the term lot shall apply tothe lengths as rolled, prior to cutting to the required shortlengths.10.1.3 For continuous-welded pipe, one tensile test shall bemade on one length of pipe from each lot of 25 tons, or fractionthereof, of pipe NPS 112 and smaller, and from

31、 each lot of 50tons, or fraction thereof, of pipe NPS 2 and larger.11. Retests11.1 If the weight of coating of any lot does not conform tothe requirements specified in Section 7, retests of two addi-tional pipes from the same lot shall be made, each of whichshall conform to the requirements specifie

Standard Weights12.1 The standard weights with the corresponding wallthickness for pipe of various nominal outside diameters areprescribed in Table 1 and Table 2.NOTE 3A system of standard pipe sizes has been approved by ANSIas B 36.10 that dispenses with the double-extra-strong weight andrecl

33、assifies the standard and extra-strong weights, substituting, therefore,schedules of wall thicknesses based on minimum pressure-stress ratios.Wall thicknesses corresponding to most of these now listed as standardweight and extra-strong are incorporated in Schedules 40 and 80,respectively, of B 36.10

34、.13. Dimensions, Mass, and Permissible Variations13.1 WeightThe weight of the pipe covered by Table 1and Table 2 shall not vary by more than 610 % from thatprescribed.NOTE 4The weight tolerance of 610 % is determined from theweights of the customary lifts of pipe as produced for shipment by themill,

35、 divided by the number of feet of pipe in the lift. On pipe sizes overNPS 4 where individual lengths may be weighed, the weight tolerance isapplicable to the individual length.13.2 DiameterFor pipe NPS 112 and under, the outsidediameter at any point shall not vary more than164 in. 0.4 mmover nor mor

36、e than132 in. 0.8 mm under the standardspecified. For pipe NPS 2 and over, the outside diameter shallnot vary more than 61 % from the standard specified.13.3 ThicknessThe minimum wall thickness at any pointshall not be more than 12.5 % under the nominal wall thicknessspecified.14. Lengths14.1 Length

37、s of toprail may be of random lengths, forexample, 16 ft 4.9 m to 24 ft 7.3 m, unless otherwisespecified. Post lengths shall be as noted in the purchase orderor producer plans and specifications with a tolerance of 61 in.25.4 mm.15. Workmanship, Finish, and Appearance15.1 The finished pipe shall be

38、galvanized and reasonablystraight and free of defects. Any imperfection that is deeperthan 1212 % of the wall thickness or violates the minimumwall shall be considered a defect. All burrs at the ends of thepipe shall be removed.15.2 The zinc coating shall be free of voids or excessiveroughness.15.3

39、End finish shall be plain end square cut.15.4 Posts and rails shall be one piece free of weldedsections.16. Inspection and Certification16.1 All tests and inspection shall be made at the place ofmanufacture prior to shipment, unless otherwise specified, andshall be so conducted as not to interfere u

40、nnecessarily with theoperation of the works.16.2 Responsibility for inspection, unless otherwise speci-fied in the contract or purchase order, rests upon the producer.This includes performance of all inspection and test require-ments specified herein. Except as otherwise specified in thecontract ord

41、er, the producer may use their own or any othersuitable facilities for the performance of the inspection and testrequirements specified herein unless disapproved by the pur-chaser. The purchaser shall have the right to perform any of theinspections and tests set forth in this specification where suc

42、hinspections are deemed necessary to ensure that materialconforms to prescribed requirements.17. Rejection17.1 Each length of pipe received from the manufacturermay be inspected by the purchaser and, if it does not meet therequirements of this specification based on the inspection andtest method as

43、outlined in this specification, the length may berejected and the manufacturer shall be notified. Disposition ofrejected pipe shall be a matter of agreement between themanufacturer and the purchaser.17.1.1 Pipe found in fabrication or installation to be unsuit-able for the intended use, under the sc

44、ope and requirements ofthis specification, may be set aside and the manufacturernotified. Such pipe shall be subject to mutual investigation asto the nature and severity of the deficiency and the forming orinstallation, or both, conditions involved. Disposition shall bea matter for agreement.18. Cer

45、tification18.1 The producer or supplier shall, upon request, furnish tothe purchaser a certificate of inspection stating that the materialhas been sampled, tested, and inspected in accordance with thisspecification, and has been found to meet the requirements.F108308319. Product Marking19.1 Except a

46、s allowed by 19.6 and 19.7, each length ofpipe shall be legibly marked in the following sequence byrolling, stamping, or stenciling to show:19.1.1 Manufacturers name or mark,19.1.2 Country of origin,19.1.3 Method of manufacture (electric-resistance weldedor furnace welded),19.1.4 Specification numbe

47、r (year of issue not required),andNOTE 5Pipe that complies with multiple compatible specificationsmay be marked with the appropriate designation for each specification.19.1.5 Size (NPS and weight class, schedule number, ornominal wall thickness; or specified outside diameter andnominal wall thicknes

48、s).19.2 Unless another marking format is specified in thepurchase order, length shall be marked in feet and tenths of afoot, or metres to two decimal places, dependent upon the unitsto which the pipe was ordered. The location of such markingshall be at the option of the manufacturer.19.3 Heat number

49、, lot number, run number, or a combina-tion thereof shall be marked at the option of the manufacturer,unless specific marking is specified in the purchase order. Thelocation of such marking shall be at the option of themanufacturer.19.4 Grade DesignationThe letters “IS 50000” shall beused when product meets the Intermediate Strength g
