Terminology

7、3.1 DefinitionsIn general, definitions shall be in accor-dance with IEEE 100 (see Section 2).3.2 Definitions of Terms Specific to This Standard:3.2.1 idle machinerotary machine, when not rotating,owing to the absence of energy.3.2.2 monitordevice, generally located in a motor starter,control panel,

8、or main switchboard, that senses the leakageresistance of electrical machine windings to ground, while themonitored machine stands idle.4. Monitor Classification4.1 TypeThe insulation resistance monitors covered bythis specification shall be of the following types:4.1.1 Type IAlternating current mot

9、or monitors.4.1.2 Type IIAlternating current generator monitors.4.1.3 Type IIIDirect current motor monitors.4.1.4 Type IVDirect current generator monitors.4.2 Duty RatingAll monitors shall be capable of continu-ous duty operations as defined in accordance with IEEE 100.5. United States15.1.9 Special options requested (that is, test buttons, el-evated ambient temperature usage, and so forth.).6. Materials and Manufacture6.1 GeneralMaterials used in the construction of insula-tion r

15、esistance monitors are to be manufactured and tested inaccordance with IEEE 45. Materials conforming to otherrecognized standards will be subject to approval by theprocuring agency, provided they are not less effective.6.2 Flame-Retardant MaterialsEnclosure materials usedin the construction of the m

16、onitors are to be flame-retardant inaccordance with UL 94, and have a minimum flame rating of94V-1 for monitors being installed within a motor controllerenclosure, or switchgear-type enclosure, or a minimum ratingof 94-5V for monitors not installed within such an enclosure.6.3 Electrical InsulationE

17、lectrical insulation materialsused and application thereof shall be in accordance with therequirements of IEEE 45.6.4 Current Carrying TerminalsAll monitor current car-rying terminals shall be made of corrosion resistant material inaccordance with CFR 46, Subchapter J.6.5 Electrical IsolationMonitor

18、s shall isolate their mea-suring circuit from the line voltage, while the motor isoperating, by the use of an integral isolating relay.7. General Design Requirements7.1 Environment:7.1.1 TemperatureThe rating of the monitor shall be basedon an ambient temperature of 50C (122F).7.1.1.1 Operating Temp

19、erature RangeMonitors shall op-erate over the range from 0 to 50C (32 to 122F). (See 10.1.2for operation range.)7.1.2 SealingUpon final assembly, the monitor housingshall protect the internal components against foreign matterand shall be constructed so as to prevent tampering.7.1.3 InclinationMonito

20、rs shall operate at inclinationangles up to 60 in any direction from the normal operatingposition.7.1.4 HumidityMonitors shall operate at a constant rela-tive humidity of up to minimum 90 %.7.1.5 VibrationMonitors shall operate in the presence ofacceptable operational shipboard vibration without mec

21、hanicaldamage, control chatter, or other defects.7.2 Operating Voltage/Accuracy:7.2.1 Monitor RelaysMonitor relays shall pick up andhold from 80 % rated line voltage upwards with the coil at itsmaximum operating temperature and shall operate satisfacto-rily in the range from 80 to 120 % of rated lin

22、e voltage.7.2.2 Design Voltage Characteristics Monitors shall bedesigned for application on 60 Hz AC and DC current systemsand be designed to operate on electrical systems havingstandard voltages acceptable to the U.S. Coast Guard. (See 46CFR 111.)7.2.3 Operating AccuracyMonitors shall alarm within6

23、10 % of the ordered set point indicated on the label plate,when operated in accordance with 7.2.1.7.3 Installation Instructions:7.3.1 The monitor vendor shall submit complete installationinstructions with each monitor shipped including drawings asnecessary, denoting the following information:7.3.1.1

24、 Application as a motor or generator monitor.7.3.1.2 Line voltage level to be applied to monitor.7.3.1.3 Type designation of monitor supplied.7.3.1.4 Clearly identify where the connections are to bemade to the equipment being monitored.8. Construction Specifications8.1 General:8.1.1 Monitors shall b

25、e designed for ease of installationrequiring no special tools and shall be fitted with a fasteningdevice compatible with the vibration criteria established formarine applications.8.1.2 Indication of a condition representing a low insulationvalue as detected by the monitor shall be displayed by means

26、of an illuminated device mounted on the body of the monitor.8.1.3 The monitor shall include voltageless terminals towhich remotely located audible or visual indicators, or both,can be connected through the use of control cabling. Relaycontacts for this function shall have contacts with a switchingpo

27、wer of 1000 W AC, 100 W DC for a resistive load.8.1.4 Electrical interface with the monitor shall be throughthe use of terminals (or terminal strips), screws and lugs(solderless crimp or solder types). Splicing will not be used.The size of terminals and conductors for interfacing themonitoring shall

28、 be suitable to carry the maximum currentsexpected during operation.8.1.5 The monitors sensing circuit should be limited to thefollowing levels:8.1.5.1 Voltagenot to exceed 500 VDC.8.1.5.2 Currentnot to exceed 200 A.8.1.6 Monitors shall be designed to provide a range ofinsulation resistances to be m

29、onitored based on the type ofmonitor ordered. However, each individual monitor shall bedesigned for one or two specific resistance values, and thesevalues shall be marked on the label plate of the device.9. Workmanship, Finish, and Appearance9.1 All workmanship shall be of acceptable commercialmarin

30、e standard in all respects and all materials. Componentsor parts specified shall be new and unused, except for normaltesting, as required.10. Test Methods10.1 Routine TestsSubject each monitor offered for deliv-ery to the following tests:10.1.1 Visual and mechanical examination.10.1.2 Operational pe

31、rformance test.10.2 Visual and Mechanical ExaminationExamine themonitor devices to verify that the materials, design,construction, dimensions, weight, marking, and workmanshipare in conformance with the vendors drawings.10.3 Operational PerformanceTest all functions of thecompletely assembled device

32、s over the specified line voltagerange (rated line voltage 620 %). Accuracy of alarm shall beas stated in 7.2.3.F1134 15211. Product Marking11.1 Each monitor device shall be identified with a perma-nently applied and clearly marked labelplate indicating thefollowing information:11.1.1 Manufacturers

33、name and address.11.1.2 Type designation.11.1.3 Applicable specification number(s).11.1.4 Serial number.11.1.5 Monitor supply voltage.11.1.6 Monitor control voltage.11.1.7 Insulation resistance value below which the alarmshould be activated.11.1.8 Ratings and configurations of alarm relay contacts.1
