Grade 0Aconsists of a zinc phosphate coating with no additional sealer(dry), Grade 0B consists of a zinc phosphate coating with a dryorganic sealer, Grade 0C, Grade 0D, and Grade I consist of azinc phosphate coating with supplemental protective oil typecompound, and Grades II an
4、d III consist of a zinc phosphatewith a supplemental zinc-rich epoxy resin coating (Grade IIincludes a clear organic topcoat).1.2 This specification is intended primarily for fastenerssuch as nuts, clips, washers, and other ferrous threaded andnon-threaded fasteners that require corrosion protection

Classification3.1 The zinc phosphate treatment and subsequent protectivecoatings are classified into seven grades according to therequirements shown in Table 1. Phosphate bath concentrations,temperatures a
7、nd immersion times recommended by thechemical manufacture should be followed.4. Ordering Information4.1 Orders for material under this specification shall includethe following information:4.1.1 Quantity of parts,4.1.2 Grade required (see Table 1), and4.1.3 Any additions agreed upon between the purch
8、aser andthe supplier.5. Requirements5.1 AppearanceUnless otherwise agreed upon betweenthe purchaser and the producer, the color of the protectivecoating shall be as-coated gray for Grades 0A, 0B, 0C, and 0D,black for Grade I, and metallic gray for Grades II and III. Inaddition, Grades II and III sha
9、ll be free from tears, sags, andexcess coating that may affect appearance or performance, orboth.5.2 AdhesionThe coating for Grades II and III shall showno evidence of blistering nor other appearance changes afterexposure to humidity testing for 96-h minimum. It shall showno more than 3.0-mm peal-ba
10、ck from intersection of linesscribed and tape tested immediately after a 10-min recoveryperiod following exposure, and no other peeling in area underthe tape.5.3 Corrosion ResistanceThese coatings shall be capableof withstanding neutral salt spray for the minimum h specifiedin Table 1 with no base m

On other surfaceswhere control of the coating cannot be obtained under normalprocessing such as holes, recesses, threads, etc., the aboverequirements do not apply.5.4 Coating FlexibilityThes
17、e coatings shall withstand thenormal flexing encountered by spring clips, or swaged andflaired fasteners, without evidence of flaking or loss of adhe-sion to base metal. They shall also withstand normal handlingand storage conditions.5.5 Thread FitThe maximum thickness of coating whichmay be applied
18、 to threads on threaded products is limited bythe basic thread size (see 8.2). Threads may be producedundersize/oversize (before coating) to accommodate the coat-ing thickness, providing the finished product (after coating)meets all specified mechanical properties. All undersize/oversize must be wit
19、hin permissible limits as agreed uponbetween the supplier and the purchaser.5.6 Dry-to-TouchGrade 0C shall be evenly coated anddry-to-touch such that when held with filter paper or equivalentand applying hand pressure for 5 to 10 s, there shall be novisible staining of the filter paper when viewed w
20、ithout use ofsupplementary magnification. For referee purposes, this testshall be performed using a force of 10 N as measured with aload-indicating gage.6. Sampling6.1 The purchaser may request samples in accordance withGuide F 1470.7. Test Methods7.1 The humidity test and adhesion test shall be con
21、ductedin accordance with Practice D 2247 and Test Methods D 3359,respectively, for Grades II and III.7.2 The corrosion resistance shall be determined in accor-dance with Practice B117.7.3 The coating thickness may be determined by micro-scopic examination of the cross-section taken perpendicular tot
22、he significant surface or by determining the coating mass(g/m2) by a weigh-strip-weigh method and then converting toa coating thickness (see note). Coating thickness, for refereepurposes, shall be measured by microscopic examination.NOTE 1The weigh-strip-weigh method involves weighing the testspecim
