Materials and Manufacture5.1 Fuel oil meter casings, as well as any pressure-retainingparts, shall be
15、 constructed of ferrous material as listed inSection VIII, Division 1 of the ASME Boiler and PressureVessel Code. All other parts shall be constructed of materialssuitable for the service intended. Fasteners in contact withinterior fluid shall be of corrosion-resistant steel.5.2 Seals and associated
16、 parts shall be of materials suitablefor the service and the fluid to be measured.5.3 Manufacture:5.3.1 Fuel oil meters with end fittings in compliance withANSI Standards B2.1, B16.1, B16.3, B16.4, B16.5, B16.11,orB16.34 as appropriate may be used within the pressure-temperature ranges permitted by
17、the applicable standard pro-vided the meter housing is satisfactory for these conditions.5.3.2 Threaded fittings above two nominal pipe size (NPS)and socket welded flanges above 3 NPS shall not be used infuel oil meters with a MAWP above 150 psig (1 N/mm2) andfor service above 150F (65C).5.4 Welding
18、 procedure qualification, welder performancequalification, and welding materials shall be in accordancewith ANSI B31.1 and Section IX of the ASME Code. Brazingor soldering shall not be used.6. Other Requirements6.1 Components:6.1.1 The meter shall consist of a housing with measuringmechanism and a r
19、egister with counter mechanism.6.1.1.1 Measuring ChamberThe measuring chamber forall meters shall be so constructed as not to show distortionunder maximum allowable working pressure in any manner, orto affect the sensitivity of the meter.6.1.1.2 Adjusting DeviceThe meter shall be provided withan adj
20、usting device for changing the registered quantity toattain desired calibration. The adjustment setting shall haveprovisions for locking and shall not change during the meterlife except by manual readjustment. The adjusting device shallbe noncyclical and shall permit adjustment without disassem-bly
21、of the mechanism except for removal of adjusting devicecover plate. The plate shall be sealed by means of a lead seal.The meter shall be capable of calibration adjustment over aminimum range of 5 %.6.1.1.3 Direction Marking of MeterDirections for positiveand negative adjustment shall be permanently
22、marked on themeter.6.1.1.4 RegisterThe register shall be of the direct-readingtype. The register shall have a nonsetback total indicator and asetback-type run indicator, so that individual runs can beregistered without affecting the total of all runs, as shown onthe total indicator. The total indica
23、tor shall have a minimum ofeight figures, and the setback run indicator shall have aminimum of five figures. Reset digits shall have a minimumheight of12 in. (13 mm) and shall not be coated withfluorescent paint. The indicating register shall read in U.S.gallons of 231 in.3(3.785 41 3 103m3) each. T
24、he registershall be isolated from the fluid.6.1.1.5 Register FaceThe register shall have a transpar-ent, colorless plastic face of such size that all digits shall beeasily read. Glass shall not be used.6.2 Rating, Design, and Fabrication:6.2.1 The maximum allowable working pressure-temperature ratin
25、g (MAWP) for fuel oil meters conforming tothis standard shall be established by at least one of thefollowing methods:6.2.1.1 Proof test in accordance with the requirementsprescribed in Paragraph UG-101 of Section VIII of the ASMECode. If burst-type tests as outlined in Paragraph UG-101(m)are used, i
26、t is not necessary to rupture the component. In thiscase, the value of B to be used in determining the MAWP shallbe the maximum pressure to which the component wassubjected without rupture. Components that have been sub-jected to a hydrostatic proof test shall not be offered for sale.6.2.1.2 The wat
27、er temperature shall not exceed 125F(52C) during the test.6.2.2 Design calculations are in accordance with the re-quirements prescribed in Section VIII, Division I of theASMECode.6.3 Where welded construction is used for the fabrication ofpressure containing parts, welded joint design details shall
28、bein accordance with Section VIII, Division 1 of theASME Codeand Specification F722. Except for fillet welds, all welds shallbe full penetration welds extending through the entire thicknessof the shell.6.4 Inlet and outlet connections consisting of welded flangesand fittings shall be in accordance w
29、ith Specification F722.When radiography is required (see 10.2), all welds shall be buttwelds for Class I piping as required by Specification F722,except packing cylinders, drains, and similar ancillary connec-tions may be attached by fillet or socket welds.6.5 CapacityThe maximum capacity of the met
30、er shall beas specified by the manufacturer.6.6 Pressure DropThe maximum pressure drop betweenthe meter inlet and outlet shall not exceed 5 psi (34 MPa) ascertified by testing in accordance with 8.1.1.2.6.7 Error, Normal FlowFor flow rate and calibrationsetting between 5 and 100 % of maximum capacit
31、y, the error ofthe meter shall not exceed 0.1 % for any one predeterminedflow rate and accuracy setting.6.8 MaintainabilityThe meter shall be so designed as notto require special tools for overhaul and repair.7. Workmanship, Finish, and Appearance7.1 Meter shall have all burrs or sharp edges removed
32、 andshall be cleaned of all loose metal chips and other foreignsubstances.7.2 Treatment and PaintingThe exterior surface of themeter shall be treated and painted in accordance with bestcommercial practice.8. Number of Tests8.1 Qualification Tests:8.1.1 A representative fuel oil meter of each particu
33、lardesign shall be certified as having undergone the followingqualification tests.8.1.1.1 Calibration and adjustment:F1172 88 (2010)2The meter shall be tested in accordance with applicablesections of API Code 1101.8.1.1.2 Pressure dropClean fluid at 35 Saybolt secondsUniversal (SSU) shall be pumped
34、through the meter at 100 %of manufacturers rated capacity. After the flow rate has beenstabilized, the measured pressure drop between the inlet andoutlet of the meter shall not exceed 5 psi (34 MPa).8.2 Production Tests:8.2.1 The manufacturer shall production test each fuel oilmeter by hydrostatic t
35、est methods as described in Section 9.8.2.2 Each meter shall be calibration tested at mid range offlow capacity. The reading error shall not exceed 0.1 % at thisflow rate.9. Test Methods9.1 Hydrostatic TestEach fuel oil meter shall be given ahydrostatic shell test of at least 112 times its maximumal
36、lowable working pressure.9.1.1 The fluid temperature shall not exceed 125F (52C)during the hydrostatic test, and the fluid used should benonflammable. Further, it should not cause rusting and shouldotherwise be compatible with the internal parts of the fuel oilmeter.9.1.2 The test arrangement shall
37、be air free before pressur-ization.9.1.3 The minimum duration of the shell test shall be 30 s atrequired pressure.9.1.4 No visible leakage or structural damage shall showduring the test.10. Inspection10.1 Each finished fuel oil meter shall be visually examinedand dimensionally checked to ensure that
38、 the meter corre-sponds to this specification and is marked in accordance withSection 12.10.2 Nondestructive Examination of Welds:10.2.1 All welds shall be visually examined in accordancewith ANSI B31.1.10.2.2 Welded inlet and outlet connections that are equal toor greater than 4 NPS or greater than
39、 0.375-in. nominal wallthickness which are in services greater than 150 psig (1N/mm2) and 150F (65C) shall be 100 % radiographicallyexamined.11. Certification11.1 The pressure ratings established under this specifica-tion are based upon materials of high quality produced underregular control of chem
40、ical and physical properties by arecognized process. The manufacturer shall be prepared tocertify that his product has been so produced and that thephysical and chemical properties thereof, as proven by testspecimens and nondestructive testing or as documented bycertifications from the producer or r
41、ecognized distributor ofthese materials, are at least equal to the requirements of theappropriate specifications.11.2 When specified in the purchase order or contract, themanufacturer certification shall be furnished to the purchaserstating that samples representing each lot have been manufac-tured,
42、 tested, and inspected in accordance with this specifica-tion and the requirements have been met. When specified in thepurchase order or contract, a report of the test results shall befurnished.11.3 Certification of the MAWP shall be available to pur-chasers.12. Product Marking12.1 Each fuel oil met
43、er shall be permanently marked withthe following:12.1.1 Manufacturers name or trademark.12.1.2 Maximum allowable working pressuretemperaturerating (MAWP).12.1.3 Flow DirectionThe direction of flow through themeter shall be indicated by the words “inlet and “outlet, adirectional arrow, or both, stamp
44、ed or embossed on the meter.12.1.4 End fittings complying with a standard listed in 5.3.1may be marked in accordance with the applicable requirementsof MSS SP-25 for dimensional identification purposes ifdesired.12.1.5 Size (end connection size), may be included at theoption of the manufacturer.12.1
45、.6 ASTM designation of this specification.13. Quality Assurance Provisions13.1 The manufacturer of the fuel oil meter shall maintainthe quality of the meters that are designed, tested, and markedin accordance with this specification. At no time shall a meterbe sold that is marked with this standard
46、designation that doesnot meet the requirements herein.14.
