Terminology3.1 Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) (NHTSA)The primary duty of the Emergency Medical Technician is to providebasic emergency medical care and tra

6、nsportation for critical and emergent patients who access the emergency medical system. Thisindividual possesses the basic knowledge and skills necessary to provide patient care and transportation. Emergency MedicalTechnicians function as part of a comprehensive Emergency Medical Services response,

7、under medical oversight. EmergencyMedical Technicians perform interventions with the basic equipment typically found on an ambulance. The Emergency MedicalTechnician is a link from the scene to the emergency health care system. Emergency Medical Technicians scope of practiceincludes basic, non-invas

8、ive interventions to reduce the morbidity and mortality associated with acute out-of-hospital medical andtraumatic emergencies. Emergency care is based on assessment findings.3.2 Definitions of Terms Specific to This Standard:3.2.1 auscultationexamination by listening with a stethoscope.3.2.2 inspec

9、tionexamination by careful visualization of the body or a part of the body.3.2.3 palpationexamination by touching with the hand.4. Examination Techniques5.1 The emergency medical technician (basic) shall be trained to perform the following examination techniques and to recognizethe differences that exist because of age and sex:5.1.1 Assess respirations for rate, rhythm, and

17、 quality,quality;5.1.2 Auscultate for breath sounds,sounds;5.1.3 Assess rate and regularity of the following pulses: carotid, brachial, radial, femoral, and pedal,pedal;5.1.4 Palpate blood pressure,pressure;5.1.5 Auscultate blood pressure,pressure;5.1.6 Assess mental status and level of consciousnes
