Materials and Manufacture6.1 MaterialThe polymeric binder of the rubber floor tileshall (1) satisfy the definition of rubber in Terminology D1566,and (2) have been vulcanized, as defined in TerminologyD1566 (under vulcaniza
18、tion), such that it becomes thermosetas defined in Terminology D883. The rubber floor tile madefrom this compound shall be resistant to neutral pH cleaners.6.2 Color, Pattern, and Wear Layer SurfaceThe color,pattern, and wear layer surface, as applicable, shall be asspecified in the contract or orde
19、r (see 5.1).NOTE 1The colors and patterns that are available are indicated inindividual manufacturers current catalogs. As manufactured, colors mayvary somewhat in hue or shade from the catalog.NOTE 2Where color match is a concern, samples from the manufac-turer shall be obtained to verify color acc
20、eptability.6.3 Homogeneous Rubber Floor TileThe surface coloringor mottling shall be uniform throughout the entire thickness ofthe rubber floor tile.6.4 Layered Rubber Floor TileThe surface color or mot-tling need not extend through the entire thickness of the rubberfloor tile, but must extend throu
21、ghout the entire thickness of thewear layer.6.4.1 The wear layer must have a minimum thickness of0.040 in. (1.0 mm) when measured in accordance with TestMethod F410.6.4.2 The appearance of the rubber floor tile, after removing0.020 in. (0.51 mm) of the wear layer thickness, shall comparefavorably in
22、 appearance with the rubber floor tile originalappearance. The removal of the wear layer may be accom-plished by any suitable method.7. Performance Requirements7.1 HardnessThe rubber floor tile shall have a durometerhardness of not less than 85 (Shore, Type A) when tested inaccordance with Test Meth
23、od D2240.7.2 Static Load LimitWhen tested in accordance with TestMethod F970, with an applied load of 250 lb (113.4 kg), theresidual indentation shall not be greater than 0.005 in. (0.127mm).7.3 Resistance to Short-Term Chemical ExposureWhentested in accordance with Test Method F925, the rubber floo
24、rtile shall have no more than a slight change in surface dulling,surface attack, or staining when exposed to the followingchemicals:White vinegar (5% acetic acid)Rubbing alcohol (70% isopropyl alcohol)Sodium hydroxide solution (5% NaOH)Hydrochloric acid solution (5% HCl)Sulfuric acid solution (5% H2
25、SO4)Household ammonia solution (5% NH4OH)Household bleach (5.25% NaOCl)Disinfectant cleaner (5% active phenol)NOTE 3These basic chemicals are representative of those likely to befound in domestic, commercial, and institutional use. Should therubber floor tile for an unusual application need to be resistant to a specificchemical, this additional requirement should become part of the procure-ment document (see 5.1.8).NOTE 4Since standard SBR rubber floor tiles are not recommendedfor installation where the product will be exp
27、osed to animal fats, vegetableoils, and petroleum-based reagents, mineral oil, olive oil, kerosene, andgasoline have been removed from the standard chemical list to eliminateany confusion regarding product selection.7.4 Resistance to HeatWhen tested in accordance withTest Method F1514, the color cha
28、nge of the rubber floor tileshall have an average DE not greater than 8.0 after 7 daysexposure to 158F (70C). The specimen surface shall bewiped with a clean, white cotton cloth prior to taking the initialand post test conditioned period color readings to remove anywax bloom or other contaminants wh
29、ich may affect theaccuracy of the color readings.7.5 Abrasion ResistanceWhen tested in accordance withTest Method D3389 and with the abrader equipped with H-18wheels and a load of 500 g, the maximum material loss shallnot exceed 1 gram after 1000 cycles.7.6 Dimensional StabilityWhen tested in accord
30、ance withTest Method F2199, the dimensional change of the rubber floortile in both the machine direction (MD) and the across machinedirection (AMD) shall not exceed 0.15 %.7.7 Resistance to LightTask group F06.80.13 will con-tinue to search for a test method or develop a test method toaddress this r
31、equirement. Existing Q-UV and Xenon-Arc testmethods used to test rubber floor tiles resulted in extremelyhigh failure rates which is not typical in everyday use of theseproducts.8. Dimensions and Permissible Variations8.1 Overall ThicknessUnless otherwise specified (see5.1), the molded pattern rubbe
32、r floor tile shall have a minimumthickness of 0.080 in. (2 mm) and shall be measured for overallthickness at the thickest cross-sectional area of the tile. Thethickness of the molded pattern shall be uniform throughout thetile.8.2 Base ThicknessMolded pattern rubber floor tile basethickness shall be
33、 measured at the thinnest cross-sectional areaof the tile. The thinnest cross-sectional area shall be uniformthroughout the tile.8.3 Thickness TolerancesThickness shall be as specifiedin the contract or order (see 5.1). A total tolerance of 60.005in. (60.127 mm) for smooth rubber floor tile or +0.01
34、5/0.005F1344 102in. (+0.381/0.127 mm) for molded and embossed patternrubber floor tile, from the specified thickness shall be permittedin the base thickness alone or in combination with the overallthickness, when measured in accordance with Test MethodF386 for smooth and molded pattern rubber floor
35、tile and TestMethod F373 for embossed pattern rubber floor tile. In case ofmolded and embossed pattern rubber floor tile, overall thick-ness and base thickness shall be reported (see Fig. 1).8.4 SizeRubber floor tiles are available in a variety ofsizes and shall be specified (see 5.1). The following
36、 permis-sible tolerances shall be permitted per tile when measured inaccordance with Test Method F2055.Up to and including 12 by 12 in. = 60.016 in. (60.4 mm).Larger than 12 by 12 in. and up to and including 24 by 24in. = 60.018 in. (60.45 mm).Larger than 24 by 24 in. = 60.020 in. (60.5 mm).8.5 Squa
37、renessWhen tested in accordance with TestMethod F2055, the out of squareness of the rubber floor tileshall not exceed 0.010 in. (0.254 mm).9. Workmanship, Finish, and Appearance9.1 The rubber floor tile furnished in accordance with thisspecification shall be an acceptable match to approved samplesin
38、 color, pattern, wearing surface, and appearance. The productshall be free of defects which adversely affect performance orappearance. Such defects include: blemishes, indentations,cracks, blisters, breaks in corners or edges, and delamination.9.2 Unless otherwise specified in the contract or order
39、(see5.1), the back or bonding surface of the rubber floor tile shallbe buffed, roughened, ribbed, grooved, or otherwise modifiedto improve the adhesive bond of the rubber floor tile, but in nocase shall the thickness of the tile be decreased to the extentthat any depression or groove on the bonding
40、surface beperceptible, under any circumstances, on the exposed surface.10. Sampling for Test10.1 Sampling for testing physical characteristics listed inTable I shall be done in accordance with the provisions setforth in ANSI/ASQC Z1.4. The inspection level shall bespecial inspection level S-1, as no
41、ted in Table I, and theacceptable quality level (AQL) shall be 6.5 defects per hundredunits as noted in Table II-A or as otherwise specified in 10.2herein. The lot size shall be expressed in units. A unitrepresents a single, manufactured, inventoried, finished tile.10.2 Sampling for testing physical
42、 characteristics listed inTable I shall be agreed upon by the purchaser and themanufacturer as part of the procurement document.11. Inspection11.1 Sampling for inspection of the rubber floor tile fordefects that would adversely affect performance (see 9.1) shallbe done in accordance with the provisi
43、ons set forth in ANSI/ASQC Z1.4. The inspection level shall be Level I as noted inTable I with an acceptable quality level (AQL) of 6.5 defectsper hundred as noted in Table II-A or as otherwise specified in11.2 herein. The lot size shall be expressed in units. A unitrepresents a single, manufactured
44、, inventoried, finished tile.11.2 Inspection of the rubber floor tile for defects that wouldadversely affect performance (see 9.1) shall be agreed upon bythe purchaser and the manufacturer as part of the procurementdocuments.12. Certification12.1 When specified in the purchase order or contract (see
45、5.1.11), a manufacturers certification and any other documentsrequired to substantiate certification shall be furnished to thepurchaser that the product was manufactured to meet thisspecification.13.
