16、 This Standard:3.2.1 toe-ina small reduction of the outside diameter atthe cut end of a length of thermoplastic pipe.4. Classification4.1 GeneralThis specification covers Schedule 40 and 80polyolefin pipe made from polyethylene or polypropylene iniron pipe sizes.4.2 This specification also includes

17、molded fittings and inlarger sizes (8, 10, 12 in.) fabricated fittings.5. Materials and Manufacture5.1 Polyethylene (PE) virgin material for pipe or fittingsshall be from a single compound manufacturer and shall bemade from PE material that meets or exceeds the cell-classification requirements of 11

18、2110, 213330 or 324430 asdefined in Specification D 3350.5.1.1 This specification covers PE pipe made from PEplastics as defined by hydrostatic design stresses developed onthe basis of long-term tests.5.2 Polypropylene (PP) virgin material for pipe or fittingsshall meet the requirements for polyprop

19、ylene Group 01, 02 or03, as defined in Specification D 4101.5.3 The polyolefin material shall contain suitable stabilizersand antioxidants and may contain pigments and fillers notdetrimental to pipe and fittings provided the pipe and fittingsproduced meet the requirements of this specification.5.3.1

20、 Polyolefin material can be produced in both regularand flame-retardant compounds for pipe and fittings.5.4 Rework MaterialClean rework material generatedfrom the manufacturers own pipe or fitting products may beused by the same manufacturer, using the same type and graderesin, provided that the pip

21、e or fittings produced meet therequirements of this specification.6. Requirements Requirements6.1 Dimensions and TolerancesPipe:6.1.1 Dimensions and tolerances for pipe shown in Table 1and Table 2 shall be measured in accordance with Test MethodD 2122. The tolerance for out-of-roundness shall apply

22、only topipe prior to shipment.6.1.2 Toe-InThe outside diameter when measured in ac-cordance with Test Method D 2122 shall meet the requirementsof Table 1 and Table 2 when measured at any point within 1.5pipe diameters or 11.8 in. (300 mm), whichever is less, to thecut end of the pipe length.6.2 Dime

23、nsions and TolerancesFittings.6.2.1 The minimum wall thickness of the body of all fittingsshall not be less than the corresponding Schedule 40 pipe sizeand shall be measured in accordance with Test Method D 2122.6.2.2 Spigot ends of fittings shall conform to the diameterand out-of-roundness requirem

24、ents for pipe.6.2.3 Socket ends of fittings shall conform to the dimen-sional requirements for size and tolerances as provided onrequest by the manufacturer.6.2.4 The average minimum diameters of waterways offittings excluding adapters shall be as specified in Table 3.6.2.5 For all fittings having t

25、aper pipe threads, threads shallconform to Specification F 1498 and be gaged in accordancewith 8.7.6.2.6 The patterns, dimensions, and laying lengths ofmolded fittings, including adaptors, shall meet the require-ments of Specification D 3311 or shall be of a proven designand shall allow a smooth tra

26、nsition of fluid flow from onedirection to another. Specialty fittings or fittings with layinglengths exceeding those shown in D 3311 shall not be ex-cluded. 33、.08)F 1412 0926.2.7 CleanoutsAll polyolefin fitting cleanouts havingfemale threads shall be supplied with polyolefin plugs to suit.6.2.8 Cleanouts, cleanout plugs, and caps, as commonlyused in the manufacturers laboratory drainage system, shallhave a thread size and depth sufficient to ensure that t

34、heminimum waterway sizes are maintained.6.2.9 TrapsAll traps shall have a minimum water seal of2 in. (50 mm).6.3 Chemical ResistancePipe and fitting materials shallbe evaluated in accordance with Test Method D 543, Proce-dures I and II, using the chemicals listed in 8.3. The weightchange shall not e

35、xceed 2 % nor shall apparent tensile strengthchange by more than 10 %. In cases where there is a change inthe apparent tensile strength greater than 10 %, a furtherevaluation shall be made after removal from the chemical, andconditioning for 72 h. If after 72 h there is a minimum of 50 %recovery of

36、tensile strength as compared to the unexposedspecimen, and that figure is within 6 10 % of the originaltensile strength of the unexposed specimen shall be consideredacceptable.6.4 Water AbsorptionPipe and fitting materials shall notchange in weight more than 0.50 % when tested in accordancewith 8.4.

37、6.5 System Integrity:6.5.1 Fused joints and pipe associated with them shallwithstand a pressure of 50 psi (0.35 MPa) without leakingwhen tested in accordance with 8.5.1.6.5.2 Mechanical joints shall withstand a pressure of 14.5psi (0.10 MPa) without leaking when tested in accordance with8.5.2.NOTE 1

38、Mechanical joints include transition, compression, threaded,and other mechanical type joints.6.5.3 Mechanical joints shall incorporate a positive me-chanical system for axial restraint in addition to any restraintprovided by friction.6.5.4 Mechanical joints shall show no evidence of separa-tion at t

39、he joint under force P when tested in accordance with8.6.1 nor shall they leak or show any other damage when testedin accordance with 8.6.2. Two fittings shall be tested and bothshall pass.6.6 All stainless steel internal grab rings shall be manufac-tured from corrosion-resistant steel containing no

40、t less than16 % chromium and not less then 6 % nickel by weight.6.7 Sealing RingsPolyethylene sealing rings shall be of aType 1 (LDPE) compound.6.8 FlatteningThere shall be no evidence of splitting,cracking, or breaking when the pipe is tested in accordancewith 8.8.6.9 Impact ResistanceThe impact re

41、sistance testing shallbe in accordance with 8.9.7. Workmanship, Finish, and Appearance7.1 The manufacture of fittings and pipe shall be in accor-dance with good commercial practice so as to produce fittingsmeeting the requirements of this specification. Fittings andpipe shall be homogeneous througho

42、ut and free from visiblecracks, holes, foreign inclusions, or injurious defects. Thefittings and pipe shall be as uniform as commercially practi-cable in opacity, density, and other physical properties.8. Test Methods8.1 ConditioningCondition the test specimens at 73.4 63.6F (23 6 2F) and 50 6 5 % r

43、elative humidity for not lessthan 40 h prior to test in accordance with Procedure A ofPractice D 618, for those tests where conditioning is required.8.2 Test ConditionsConduct tests in the standard labora-tory atmosphere of 73.4 6 3.6F (23 6 2C) and 50 6 5%relative humidity, unless otherwise specifi

44、ed in the test meth-ods or in this specification.8.3 Chemical ResistanceDetermine the resistance to thefollowing chemicals using the test method detailed in TestMethod D 543.Chemical Percent in WaterAcetic acid 5 by volumeAcetone 100Methyl alcohol 100Ammonium hydroxide 10 by volumeNitric acid 40 by

Remove the speci-mens, wipe dry with a clean, dry cloth, an

Calculate the average percent gain in weight to thenearest 0.01 % on the basis of the initial weight.8.5 Hydrostatic Pressure Tests:8.5.1 Fused-Joint Pressure TestSelect at random sixspecimens of pipe, each five times the nominal diameter or amaximum of 18 in. (450 mm) in len

47、gth, for each size of pipingand each type of system being considered. Also select threesuitable couplings at random. Prepare three joined specimensby joining two pipe specimens with one coupling, using thefusion equipment and instructions supplied by the manufac-turer of the system. Fill each specim

48、en with water at 73.4 63.6F (236 2C) and cap, taking care to exclude all air fromthe system. Fix one end of the specimen to a pressurizingapparatus, and support the free end if necessary. Pressurizeeach specimen to 50 psi (0.35 MPa) for a minimum of 5 minand inspect for leaks. None of the three spec

49、imens shall leak(laboratory performance test only, not for field use).8.5.2 Mechanical Joint Pressure Test Perform the pres-sure test on mechanical joints on test specimens prepared in amanner similar to that described in 8.5.1, except use appropri-ate pipe specimens where the joint is intended to join pipes ofTABLE 3 Average Waterway Diameter, in.
