Scope1.1 This specification covers the requirements, sizes, con-struction, tests, and procedures for unused ropes for use byelectrical utiliti

3、es and related industries on energized linesoperating at voltages higher than 1 kV.1.2 This specification covers the minimum electrical, me-chanical, and physical properties guaranteed by the manufac-turer and the detailed procedures by which such properties areto be determined. The purchaser has th

4、e option to perform orhave performed any of these tests in order to verify theguarantee. Claims for failure to meet the specification aresubject to verification by the manufacturer.1.3 The rope to which this specification applies is designedto be used in a clean and dry condition, on or near energiz

5、edlines.1.4 A margin of safety shall be allowed between themaximum voltage and working distances on which it is usedand the test voltage and lengths at which it is tested.1.5 It is common practice for the user of this type ofequipment to prepare complete instructions and regulations togovern in deta

Workmanship, Finish, and Appearance7.1 All sizes of rope shall be evenly laid and well

16、balancedin accordance with best rope making workmanship. Rope andstrands shall be free from kinks, strand knots, and darting yarnsor loose ends (inside yarns which project through cover yarnsof strand at intervals along the rope).8. Sampling and Number of Tests or Retests8.1 Composition of Batch to

17、be SampledSamples shall betaken from a homogeneous batch consisting of ropes of thesame size and same dimensions and which have been subject tothe same series of manufacturing operations and the samechecking procedure.8.2 Selecting the SamplesUnless otherwise agreed uponbetween the purchaser and man

18、ufacturer, take at random fromthe batch the number of samples, S, obtained from thefollowing equation:S 5 0.4 =Nwhere N = number of coils making up the batch.Where the calculated value of S is not a whole number, thenumber obtained shall be rounded to the nearest whole number.For example, 27.5 and 3

19、0.35 shall be rounded to 28 and 30,respectively. Where S 1, take one sample length.8.2.1 Specimen Selection LocationFor acceptance or re-testing of rope shipped in reel lengths, specimens shall beselected from each end. One specimen shall be selected fromthe outside end and one from the inside (drum

20、) end. This willrequire a re-reeling of the rope.8.3 For routine production testing, single-finished produc-tion runs of greater than 1828 m (6000 ft) tests shall beconducted at the beginning and end of the finished productionlength.9. Specimen Preparation9.1 Specimen preparation is included as a pa

21、rt of each testmethod. The ends of each rope specimen shall be heat scaled.10. Recommended Working Load10.1 Manufacturers furnishing rope under this specificationshall specify a recommended maximum working load.11. Test Methods and Performance Requirements11.1 The ropes complying with these specific

22、ations shallundergo two different tests, electrical and mechanical/physical,and are to be termed “nonconductive” rope. Samples of ropeselected in accordance with Section 7 from every productionlot (single finished production length) shall be tested and eachreel identified by lot (see 15.3).11.1.1 Th

23、e test sequence is (1) visual (Refer to Section 7;(2) electrical; (3) mechanical/physical.11.2 CautionIt is recommended that the test apparatus bedesigned to afford the operator full protection in performanceof his duties. Reliable means of deenergizing and groundingthe high-voltage circuit shall be

24、 provided.11.3 Electrical Test ProcedureWet TestThis is a rou-tine production test.11.3.1 Specimen for TestWhen selected in accordancewith 8.3, the test specimen shall be at least 2.4 m (8 ft) long sothat when the rope is held in a vertical position, there will be1.5 m (5 ft) of rope free of knots,

25、eyes, or splices.11.3.2 Handling of SpecimenWhen the specimen ishandled, it shall always be outside the test footage (see Fig. 1).11.3.3 Attachment of ElectrodesThe electrodes shall beattached prior to wetting the specimen. See Fig. 1 for attach-ment points. The electrode shall be made of one wrap o

26、f 22gage solid copper wire twisted tightly and pigtailed to ensureall filaments are in contact. See Fig. 1.11.3.4 Wetting of Specimen:11.3.4.1 A clean nonmetallic tank or trough shall be rinsedwith the same type water to be used during the wetting.11.3.4.2 The entire rope specimen shall be kept subm

27、ergedhorizontally in test water at a depth of 305 mm (1 ft) usingnon-metallic device(s) for a period of 15 min. There shall be nobends in this specimen.11.3.5 Water for WettingThe electrical resistivity of thewater used for wetting shall meet the requirements of IEEE-Standard 4, that is 100 V m at a

28、mbient temperature 615C.The resistivity may be measured by using the test methods asdescribed in Test Methods D 1125.11.3.6 Drying of SpecimenWithin 1 min after removingspecimen from wetting tank, the specimen shall be hung in avertical position with an unrestrained weight of 4.5 kg (10 lb)attached.

29、 Allow to dry at as near standard atmospheric condi-tions as practical with rope attachment point and weightattachment point as described in Fig. 1. 30、.1 The 60 Hz voltage shall be applied immediatelyafter the 15-min drying period and shall be raised from 0 to 30kV in not less than 5 nor more than 15 s. The voltage shall beheld at 30 kV for 30 s. The leakage current obtained over the2 ft test section shall not exceed 50 A from the time of initiala

31、pplication of voltage until the end of the test. If the currentexceeds 50 A, the lot will be rejected. Refer to Fig. 2 for testcircuit.11.3.7.2 The wet test in 11.3 is a discriminatory test used asa method of determining the rope quality, not as a method ofdetermining the ropes ability to operate pr

32、operly under wetconditions in the field.11.4 Electrical Test ProcedureAcceptance TestThis is adry specimen acceptance test.11.4.1 Specimen for TestWhen selected in accordancewith 8.3, the test specimen shall be at least 2.4 m (8 ft) long sothat when the rope is held in a vertical position, there wil

33、l be1.5 m (5 ft) of rope free from knots, eyes, or splices (see Fig.1).11.4.2 Handling of SpecimenWhen the rope is handled, itshall always be outside the test footage (see Fig. 1).11.4.3 Electrodes:11.4.3.1 The electrodes shall be designed to shield out themajority of stray capacitive currents.11.4.

34、3.2 The electrodes shall be similar to those specified inSpecification F711 for testing FRP rod and tube. Electricalcontact is made through washers that fit snugly around therope. The electrodes shall be mounted in a suitable frame toallow the suspension of the 305 mm (12 in.) test sectionbetween th

35、e electrodes. A 4.5 kg (10 lb) weight shall beattached to the rope to maintain good electrical contact. SeeFig. 3. For alternative electrode design, see Fig. 4.11.4.4 Dry Test Leakage ReadingsThe 60 Hz voltageshall be raised from 0 to 100 kV rms in not less than 5 nor morethan 15 s. The voltage shal

36、l be held at 100 kV rms for 5 min.If at the end of 5 min the current is stable and has not exceeded100 A or flashed over, the specimen has passed the test. If atthe end of 5 min the current is not stable and does not exceed100 A, or flashover, the test shall continue for an additional 25min. If at t

37、he end of that time the rope has not flashed over andthe current has stabilized at less than 100 A, the specimen haspassed.NOTE 1The acceptance tests may be performed at the option of thepurchaser to verify that the product meets the criteria of 11.4 and 11.5. Thecost of these tests is negotiable be

38、tween the purchaser and the manufac-turer.11.5 Wet Acceptance Test:11.5.1 Specimen for TestWhen selected in accordancewith 8.3, the test specimen shall be at least 2.4 m (8 ft) long sothat when the rope is held in a vertical position, there will be1.5 m (5 ft) of rope free from knots, eyes, or splic

If at the endof 5 min the current is not stable or exceeds 100 A or flashesover, the specimen has failed.11.6 Mechanical/Physical Test Procedures:11.6.1 Specimen for TestThe specification for the testspecimen is provided in the details for each mechanical/physical test.11.6.2 Mas

46、s per Unit LengthThe procedure for determin-ing the mass per unit length shall be in accordance with TestMethods D 4268.Legend:Faraday Boxa shielded container (continuous copper screen, with a suitablemounting frame) enclosing and guarding the dropping resistor R1, and M (VM).Both the screen, and sh
