The abbreviation forpoly(vinyl chloride) is PVC.3.2 Definitions of Terms Specific to This Standard:3.2.1 closed profile (CP)

United States14. Significance and Use4.1 The requirements of this specification are intende

16、d toprovide pipe and fittings suitable for nonpressure drainage ofsewage and surface water.NOTE 2Industrial waste disposal lines should be installed only withthe specific approval of the governing code authority since chemicals notcommonly found in drains and sewers and temperatures in excess of140F

17、 may be encountered.5. Material5.1 Basic MaterialsThe pipe and fittings shall be made ofPVC plastic having a minimum cell classification of 12454 or12364 as defined in Specification D1784. Homopolymer PVCcompounds must meet or exceed the requirements of the abovelisted minimum cell classification nu

18、mber.5.2 Rework MaterialClean rework material generatedfrom the manufacturers own pipe or fittings production maybe used by the same manufacturer provided pipe or fittingsproduced meet all the requirements of this specification.5.3 GasketsElastomeric gaskets shall comply with therequirements describ

19、ed in Specification F477.5.4 LubricantThe lubricant used for assembly shall besuitable for use with PVC pipe and elastomeric seals for thisapplication and have no detrimental effect on the gasket or onthe pipe.6. Joining Systems6.1 Gasketed JointThe integral bell gasketed joint,coupling, or fitting

20、joints shall be designed so that whenassembled, the gasket (which is attached to either the bell orthe spigot) will be compressed radially on the pipe spigot or inthe bell to form a water-tight seal. The joints shall be designedto comply with and show no sign of leakage when tested inaccordance with

21、 7.7 when assembled with pipe for which theyare intended.6.2 Couplings shall form a water-tight seal when assembledwith plain end pipe and show no sign of leakage when testedin accordance with 7.7 when assembled with pipe for whichthey are intended.NOTE 3The outside diameters of products manufacture

22、d to thisspecification are not specified and therefore joint compatibility should bereviewed.6.3 The joint shall be designed to avoid displacement of thegasket when assembled in accordance with the manufacturersrecommendation.6.4 The assembly of joints shall be in accordance with themanufacturers re

23、commendations.7. Requirements7.1 WorkmanshipThe pipe and fittings shall be essentiallyuniform in color, opacity, density, and other properties. Theinside and outside surfaces shall be semimatte or glossy inappearance and free of chalking, sticky, or tacky material. Thesurfaces shall be free of exces

24、s bloom; that is, slight bloom isacceptable. The pipe walls shall be free of cracks, holes,blisters, voids, foreign inclusions, or other defects that arevisible to the naked eye and that may affect the wall integrity.Bloom or chalking may develop in pipe exposed to direct raysof the sun (ultraviolet

25、 radiant energy) for extended periods andconsequently these requirements do not apply to pipe afterextended exposure to direct rays of the sun.7.2 Pipe Fitting Dimensions:7.2.1 DiameterThe inside diameter of the pipe shall meetthe requirements given in Table 1 when measured in accor-dance with 8.4.1

26、.7.2.2 Wall ThicknessThe minimum wall thickness of thewaterway of pipe and fittings fabricated from pipe sectionsshall meet the requirements given in Table 1 when measured inaccordance with 8.4.2. The wall thickness of fittings fabricatedfrom pipes meeting the requirements of Specification F679 area

31、2.3 Bell Wall ThicknessIn the case of belled pipe andfittings fabricated from pipe sections, the thickness of the wallin the bell shall be considered satisfactory if it was formedfrom pipe meeting the previous requirements. For reducingfittings or those with smaller inlets, the minimum wall thick-ne

32、ss for each inlet shall be no less than the minimum wallthickness for that size pipe.7.2.4 Fittings:7.2.4.1 Molded FittingsMolded fittings conforming to therequirements of Specification F679 may also be used withprofile gravity sewer pipe provided an adapter (when required)is used to make the connec

33、tion. The minimum wall thicknessof the molded fittings and adapter shall coincide with thevalues listed in Table 1 of Specification F679. The thickness inthe wall of the adapter bell shall be considered satisfactory ifformed from pipe meeting the previous requirements.7.2.4.2 Fabricated FittingsFabr

34、icated fittings shall bemade from the pipe meeting the requirements of thisspecification, or Specification F679. Fabricated fittings withsolvent cement components shall be made in accordance withPractice D2855 and taking cognizance of Practice F402.Unreinforced solvent cement mitred joints shall not

35、 be used.Fabricated joints shall be adequately lapped or fusion buttwelded and, when needed, additionally reinforced.7.3 Pipe FlatteningThere shall be no evidence ofsplitting, cracking, breaking, or separation of ribs or seamswhen pipe is tested in accordance with 8.5.7.4 Pipe Impact StrengthThe imp

36、act strength shall not beless than the values shown in Table 2 when tested in accor-dance with 8.6.NOTE 4This requirement is intended only for use as a quality controltest, not a simulated service test.7.5 Pipe StiffnessPipe stiffness values for the pipe shallcomply with Table 1 when tested in accor

37、dance with 8.7.7.6 GasketsGaskets shall meet the low head applicationrequirements of Specification F477 and be molded into acircular form or extruded to the proper section and then splicedinto circular form.7.7 Joint TightnessAll joints shall show no signs ofleakage when tested in accordance with Sp

38、ecification D3212and Fig. 2. All surfaces of the joint upon which the gasket maybear shall be smooth and free of imperfections, ridges,fractures, or cracks that could adversely affect sealability.7.8 Acetone ImmersionThe pipe shall meet the require-ments as defined in Test Method D2152 when tested i

39、naccordance with 8.8.NOTE 5This is intended only for use as a quality control test and notfor use as a simulated service test.7.9 Air TestWhen pipe is made in such a manner that aseam or exposed channel is present, each length shall pass a3.5-psi air test in accordance with 8.9.7.10 Exposed Channels

40、Cut exposed channels of closedprofile pipe shall be sealed with a material to provide anadequate seal to prevent infiltration and exfiltration and beresistant to sewer and drainage environments.8. Test Methods8.1 Conditioning:8.1.1 Referee TestingWhen conditioning is required forreferee tests, condi

41、tion the specimens in accordance withProcedure A of Practice D618 at 73.4 6 3.6F (23 6 2C) and50 6 10 % relative humidity for not less than 40 h prior to test.Conduct tests under the same conditions of temperature andhumidity, unless otherwise specified.8.1.2 Quality Control TestingCondition specime

42、ns for aminimum of4hinairor1hinwater at 73.46 3F (23 6 2C).Test the specimens at 73.4 6 3F without regard to relativehumidity.8.2 Test ConditionsConduct tests in the standard labora-tory atmosphere of 73.4 6 3.6F (23 6 2C) and 50 6 10 %relative humidity, unless otherwise specified in the test meth-o

43、ds or in this specification. In cases of disagreement, thetolerances shall be 61.8F (61C) and 62 % relative humid-ity.8.3 SamplingThe selection of the samples of pipe shall beas agreed upon between the purchaser and the seller. In case ofno prior agreement, any sample selected by the testing labora-

44、tory shall be deemed adequate.8.4 Dimensions:8.4.1 Inside DiameterDetermine the average inside diam-eter using an internal micrometer or telescoping gage accurateto 60.001 in. (60.02 mm). Take sufficient readings, a mini-mum of four, to ensure that the maximum and minimum havebeen determined. Calcul

45、ate the average diameter as the arith-metic mean of the diameters measured. As an alternativemethod, an inside-diameter-type circumferential tape may beused if proper care is taken to align it at right angles to the pipeaxis. A tapered plug gage as described in Test Method D2122may also be used.8.4.

46、2 Wall ThicknessMeasure the wall thickness of thethinnest cross section of the waterway in the gaps between ribsin accordance with Test Method D2122. Make sufficientreadings, a minimum of eight, to ensure that the minimumthickness is determined. (See Table 1).8.5 FlatteningFlatten three specimens of

48、e as determined by 3.43 (OD)/(OD ID). Therate of loading shall be uniform and such that the compressionis completed within 2 to 5 min. The specimen shall pass if nosplitting, cracking, breaking, or separation of seams is ob-served under normal light with the unaided eye. The specimenshall be conside

49、red as failing this test if the load does notincrease continuously (or smoothly) with increasing deflectionto the point of maximum load. The maximum load point shallnot be less than 30 % deflection.8.5.1 Test specimens shall be 12 in. (305 mm) long.8.6 Impact ResistanceDetermine the impact resistance ofthe pipe in accordance with conditions and apparatus in TestMethod D2444. Impact tests shall be conducted at two differentlocations. The two locations are (1) directly on the pipemidway between ribs, and (2) directly on the seam.
