3、ed to provide cut resistanceprotection to the feet of operators of power chain saws.1.2 The objective of this specification is to prescribe fit,function, and performance criteria for footwear and footprotective devices, worn by chain saw operators, which areintended to reduce foot injuries caused by

For lower chain speeds, the probability of cutthrough approaches zero, while for higher chain speeds, theprobability of cut through approaches one.3.1.8 chain stop, nfor chain s

22、.3.1.18.1 DiscussionThe means for identifying listedequipment may vary for each organization concerned withproduct evaluation, some of which do not recognize equipmentas listed unless it is also labeled. The authority havingjurisdiction should utilize the system employed by the certifi-cation organi

23、zation to identify a listed product.3.1.19 protective clothing, nan item of clothing that isspecifically designed and constructed for the intended purposeof isolating all or part of the body from a potential hazard orisolating the external environment from contamination by thewearer of the clothing.

Materials and Workmanship4.1 Footwear and foot protective devices shall be con-structed of materials which should remain functional andeffective throughout seasonal climatic variations.4.2 Footwear and foot protective devices s

28、hall not impedenormal movement or the capability to perform the intendedtasks.4.3 The workmanship in the production and assembly of thefootwear or foot protective device shall be such that theprotective material is securely attached.4.4 Footwear and foot protective devices shall be free ofdefects or

29、 imperfections which could detract from their func-tion or performance. All hardware should be free of roughspots, burrs, or sharp edges.5. Areas of Protection5.1 Footwear and foot protective devices shall have aminimum area of protection as described in 5.1.1-5.1.3.5.1.1 Height of ProtectionThe cha

30、in saw cut resistancearea of the upper test cut zone shall extend downward from aminimum height of 178 mm (7 in.). (See Fig. 1.)NOTE 1This height can be measured by using a dowel having 64-mm(212 in.) diameter and 178 mm (7 in.) length placed at the inside back ofthe heel of the footwear.5.1.2 Width

31、 of Protection:5.1.2.1 Slip On or Non-Frontal Closure DeviceThe chainsaw cut resistance area shall extend from Point A, at the frontcenterline to vertical lines on both sides of the footwear or thefoot protective device. The top of the vertical lines are 70 mm(2.75 in.) from Point A when measured ci

32、rcumferentially alongthe top of the minimum protective area as shown in Fig. 1.5.1.2.2 Front Closure DeviceThe chain saw cut resistancearea shall extend from Point A, at the front centerline tovertical lines on both sides of the footwear or foot protectivedevice. The top of the vertical lines are 75

33、 mm (3.0 in.) fromPoint B when measured circumferentially along the top of theminimum protective area as shown in Fig. 2.5.1.3 Toe Area ProtectionToe boxes at least 1.6 mm (0.60in.) thickness steel shall be considered to be part of theprotective area.6. Inspection and Performance Testing6.1 Inspecti

34、on:6.1.1 Sampling levels for testing and inspection shall beestablished by the certification organization and the manufac-turer to ensure a reasonable and acceptable confidence levelthat products certified to standard are compliant.F1818 1326.1.2 Inspection for determining compliance with any de-sig

35、n requirements established in the specification shall beperformed on footwear or foot protective devices.6.1.3 Testing for determining material and component com-pliance with the requirements detailed in this specification shallbe performed on samples which are no better than componentsused in the a

36、ctual construction of the protective clothing. Thecertification organization shall be permitted to also use samplematerials cut from representative footwear or foot protectivedevices as defined by this specification.6.2 Performance Testing:6.2.1 Performance Requirement CS50:6.2.1.1 The footwear shal

37、l demonstrate a minimum CS50 of13.9 m/s (2750 fpm) or there shall be no cut through at 1.5seconds when tested in accordance with Test Method F1458-year.6.2.1.2 Six specimens, three left and three right, shall betested at the approximate midpoint of the upper cut zone. Usingthe dowel noted in Test Me

38、thod F1458, a horizontal line will beextended from the midpoint of the dowel to where it intersectsthe centerline of the front of the footwear or foot protectivedevice. The bracket on which the footwear or protective devicerests is at an angle such that the tangent of the centerline at thecut point

39、is horizontal and perpendicular to the guide bar.6.2.1.3 Six specimens shall be tested in the toe area cutzone, three left outside and three right inside, at a pointapproximately 12 6 2 mm (0.5 6 0.1 in.) behind the edge ofthe toe box. The footwear shall be positioned so that thecenterline of the gu

40、ide bar is at an angle of 0 to the plane ofthe baseplate when mounted on the test bracket. The plane ofthe guide bar is vertical and is perpendicular to the area of thecenterline of the footwear.6.2.1.4 Footwear or foot protective devices which incorpo-rate toe boxes of less than 1.6 mm (.060 in.) s

41、teel, or made ofa material other than steel, shall be required to have anadditional test cut made at a point between 25 to 40 mm (1.0to 1.55 in.) from the front of the footwear. This test cut can bemade on either the left side or right side of the toe area cut zoneof the footwear. The footwear shall

42、 be positioned so that thecenterline of the guide bar is at an angle of 0 to 30 to the planeof the base plate when the footwear is mounted on the testbracket. 44、ompression protection.”6.2.1.5 Footwear or foot protective devices which incorpo-rate different protective materials or constructions at requiredareas of protection locations, other than the test cut locationsspecified above, shall be required to have additional test cutsmade, as necessary, to evalu

45、ate such materials or constructions.6.2.1.6 No test of a foot protective device shall result in acut through of the footwear.6.2.1.7 Failure of any specimen to meet the minimum CS50results in failure of the lot.7. Certification7.1 General:7.1.1 Footwear and foot protective devices that are labeledas

46、 complying with this specification shall meet or exceed allapplicable requirements detailed in the specification and shallbe certified.7.1.2 All certifications shall be performed by an approvedcertification organization.7.1.3 Compliant footwear or foot protective devices shall belabeled and listed.

47、Such footwear and foot protective devicesshall also have a label and identification that meets therequirements specified in Section 9.7.2 Certification Program:7.2.1 The certification organization shall not be owned orcontrolled by manufacturers or vendors of the product beingcertified. The certific

48、ation organization shall be primarilyengaged in certification work and shall not have a monetaryinterest in the products ultimate profitability.7.2.1.1 The certification organization should have a suffi-cient breadth of interest and activity so that the loss or awardof a specific business contract w

49、ould not be a determiningfactor in the financial well-being of the organization.7.2.2 The certification organization shall refuse to certifyproducts to this specification that do not comply with allapplicable requirements of this specification.7.2.3 The contractual provisions between the certificationorganization and the manufacturer shall specify that certifica-tion is contingent upon compliance with all applicable require-ments of this specification. There shall be no conditional,temporary, or partial certifications. Manufacturers shall not b
