Materials and Manufacture6.1 Homogeneous Rubber Sheet Floor CoveringTheproduct shall consist of a wear layer and backing. The surfacecoloring or mottling shal

18、l be uniform throughout the entirethickness of the wear layer. The backing shall be fibrous orfoamed rubber and thoroughly bonded to the wear layer so asnot to delaminate under normal use.6.2 Heterogeneous (Layered) Rubber Sheet FloorCoveringThe product shall consist of a wear layer, interme-diate l

19、ayer(s), and a backing. The surface coloring or mottlingshall be uniform throughout the entire thickness of the wearlayer, but need not extend through the intermediate layer(s).The backing shall be fibrous or foamed rubber. The wear layer,intermediate layer(s) and backing shall be thoroughly bondeds

20、o as not to delaminate under normal use.6.3 Wear Layer:6.3.1 The polymeric binder of the wear layer shall satisfythe definition of rubber in Terminology D1566, and have beenvulcanized, as defined in Terminology D1566 (undervulcanization), such that it becomes thermoset as defined inTerminology D883.

21、 The wear layer made from this compoundshall be resistant to neutral pH cleaners.6.3.2 The wear layer must have a minimum thickness of0.040 in. (1.0 mm) when measured in accordance with TestMethod F410.6.3.3 The appearance of the rubber sheet floor covering afterremoving 0.020 in. (0.51 mm) of the w

22、ear layer thickness, shallcompare favorably in appearance with the sheet flooringsoriginal appearance. The removal of the wear layer may beaccomplished by any suitable method.6.3.4 The wear layer may have a smooth, embossed, ormolded pattern surface.6.4 Intermediate LayersThe layer(s) may consist of

23、, butnot be limited to, rubber, foamed rubber, or other materials,which are intended to improve the performance characteristicsof the product.6.5 BackingsThe composition of the backings shall befibrous or foamed rubber and may contain other ingredientsprovided the resultant backing is suitable for i

24、nstallation onfloors above-, on-, or below-grade when installed according tomanufacturers installation recommendations.6.6 Color, Pattern, and Wearing SurfaceThe color,pattern, and wear layer surface, as applicable, shall be asspecified in the contract or order (see 5.1).NOTE 1The colors and pattern

25、s that are available are indicated inindividual manufacturers current catalogs. As manufactured, colors mayvary somewhat in hue or shade from the catalog.NOTE 2Where color match is a concern, samples from the manufac-turer shall be obtained to verify color acceptability.7. Performance Requirements7.

26、1 HardnessThe rubber sheet floor covering shall have adurometer hardness of not less than 85 (Shore, Type A) whentested in accordance with Test Method D2240. The backingmaterial shall be removed prior to testing and may be accom-plished by any suitable method.7.2 Modulus at 10 % ElongationWhen teste

27、d in accor-dance with Test Method D412 at a rate of 6 in. (152.4mm)/min, using a 1 in. (25.4 mm) by 5 in. (127 mm) gagelength rectangular specimen, the modulus shall not be less than300 psi (2.07 MPa). For molded pattern rubber sheet floorcovering, the raised pattern shall be removed by any suitable

Prior to testing, the backing material shall be removedand may be accomplished by any suitable method.7.3 Static Load LimitWhen tested in accordance with TestMethod F970, with an applied load of 250 lb (113.4 kg), theresidual indentation shall not be greater than 0.005 in. (0.127mm).7.4 Resi

29、stance to ChemicalsWhen tested in accordancewith Test Method F925, the rubber sheet floor covering shallhave no more than a slight change in surface dulling, surfaceattack, or staining when exposed to the flowing chemicals:7.4.1 White vinegar (5 % acetic acid),7.4.2 Rubbing alcohol (70 % isopropyl a

30、lcohol),7.4.3 Sodium hydroxide solution (5 % NaOH),7.4.4 Hydrochloric acid solution (5 % HCl),7.4.5 Sulfuric acid solution (5 % H2SO4),7.4.6 Household ammonia solution (5 % NH4OH),7.4.7 Household bleach solution (5.25 % NaOCl),NOTE 3These basic chemicals are representative of those likely to befound

31、 in domestic, commercial, and institutional use. Many proprietarycompounds contain one or more of these basic chemicals. Should theflooring for an unusual application need to be resistant to a specificchemical, this additional requirement should become part of the procure-ment document, (see 5.1.8).

32、NOTE 4Since standard SBR rubber flooring is not recoommended forinstallation where the product will be exposed to animal fats, vegetableoils, and petroleum-based reagents, mineral oil, olive oil, kerosene, andgasoline have been removed from the standard chemical list to eliminateany confusion regard

33、ing product selection.F1860 14127.5 Resistance to HeatWhen tested in accordance to TestMethod F1514, the color change of the rubber sheet floorcovering shall have an average E not greater than 8.0 afterseven days exposure to 158F (70C). The specimen surfaceshall be wiped with a clean, white cotton c

34、loth prior to takingthe initial and post test conditioned period color readings toremove any wax bloom or other contaminants which mayaffect the accuracy of the color readings.7.6 Resistance to LightExisting Q-UV and Xenon-arc testmethods used to test rubber floor tiles, rubber sheets and rubberstai

35、r treads resulted in extremely high failure rates which arenot typical in everyday use of these products.8. Dimensions, Mass, and Permissible Variations8.1 Overall ThicknessMolded pattern rubber sheet floorcovering shall be measured for overall thickness at the thickestcross sectional area of the fl

36、ooring. The thickness of themolded pattern shall be uniform throughout the flooring.8.2 Base ThicknessMolded pattern rubber sheet floorcovering base thickness shall be measured at the thinnest crosssectional area of the flooring. The thinnest cross sectional areashall be uniform throughout the floor

37、ing.8.3 ThicknessThe thickness of the rubber sheet floorcovering shall be as specified in the contract or order (see5.1.4). An average tolerance, based on five individualmeasurements, of 60.008 in. (60.2 mm) from the specifiedthickness shall be permitted in the base thickness alone or incombination

38、with the overall thickness, when measured inaccordance with Test Method F387. The difference between thefive individual measurements can not be greater than 0.010 in.(0.25 mm) from the nominal thickness. In the case of moldedpattern rubber sheet floor covering, overall thickness and basethickness sh

39、all be reported.8.4 WidthThe width shall be as specified in the contract ororder (see 5.1.6). The net width (gross width less selvages)shall not be less than as marked on the label or package whenmeasured in accordance with 8.6.8.5 LengthThe length of the roll shall be as specified inthe contract or

40、 order (see 5.1.7). The sheet length shall not beless than as marked on the label or package when measured inaccordance with 8.6. Each roll shall be in one piece, except thatless than 20 % of the rolls in any one shipment may consist ofnot more than two pieces, the shortest length shall not be lesst

41、han 5 linear yards (4.57 m), or as agreed upon by the purchaserand seller. Such rolls shall be clearly marked.8.6 Length and Width MeasurementsMeasurements shallbe made with a calibrated 100 ft (30 m) steel tape graduated atintervals of116 in. or 1 mm. The roll shall be extended to itsfull length on

42、 a flat surface and all creases and bucklesremoved, insofar as practical, without applying stresses thatcause any significant stretching. Measurements of length shallbe rounded to the nearest inch or 10 mm. Net width shall bemeasured to the nearest116 in. or 1 mm at not less than tenlocations unifor

43、mly distributed along the length of each roll,and the results averaged.9. Workmanship, Finish, and Appearance9.1 The rubber sheet floor covering furnished in accordancewith this specification shall be an acceptable match to approvedsamples in color, pattern, and appearance. The product shall befree

44、of defects, that adversely affect performance or appear-ance. Such defects include: blemishes, spots, lines,indentations, blisters, and delamination.10. Sampling for Test10.1 Sampling for testing physical characteristics listed inTable 1 shall be done in accordance with the provisions setforth in AN

45、SI/ASQC Z1.4. The inspection level shall bespecial inspection level S-1, as noted in Table I ofANSI/ASQCZ1.4, and the acceptable quality level (AQL) shall be 6.5defects per hundred units as noted in Table II-(A) of ANSI/ASQC Z1.4 or as otherwise specified in 10.2. The lot size shallbe expressed in u

46、nits. A unit represents a single, manufactured,inventoried, finished roll.10.1.1 Samples shall be obtained in the required length fromthe outside end of the roll and shall encompass the total widthof the material.10.2 Sampling for testing physical characteristics listed inTable 1 shall be agreed upo

47、n by the purchaser and themanufacturer as part of the procurement document.11. Inspection11.1 Sampling for inspection of the rubber sheet floorcovering for defects that would adversely affect performance(see 9.1) shall be done in accordance with the provisions setforth in ANSI/ASQC Z1.4. The inspect
