Materials and Manufacture5.1 FittingsThe fittings shall be made from one of thefollowing metals:5.
17、1.1 Machined Brass FittingsMachined brass fittingsshall be made from material meeting the requirements ofSpecification B 140 copper alloy UNS C31400, SpecificationB 16 Copper alloy UNS C38500, or DIN 17660 CuZn39Pb3.5.1.2 Forged Brass FittingsForged brass fittings shall bemade from material meeting
18、the requirements of SpecificationB 283 Copper alloy UNS C37700, or DIN 17660-CuZn40Pb2.5.1.3 Disc SpringThe disc spring assembly consists ofone conical compression washer and one flat washer. Bothwashers shall be made from material meeting the requirementsof Specification A 666 stainless steel UNS S
19、30100. The flatwasher shall be12 hard. The minimum hardness of the conicalcompression washer shall be HRC 40.6. General Requirements6.1 The following sections of Specification F 877 constitutea part of this specification:6.1.1 Requirements,6.1.2 Test Methods, and6.1.3 Retest and Rejection.6.2 In add
20、ition, when a section with a title identical to thatreferenced in 6.1, above, appears in this specification, itcontains additional requirements that supplement those appear-ing in Specification F 877.6.3 Performance Requirements:6.3.1 GeneralAll performance test shall be preformed inassemblies of fi
21、ttings and PEX tubing as defined in 8.3. Fittingsand compression sleeves shall meet the material and dimen-sional requirements of this standard. PEX tubing shall meet therequirements of Specifications F 876 and F 877. Assembly oftest specimens shall be in accordance with 9.2. Use separate setof asse
22、mblies for each performance test requirement.6.3.2 Dimensions Randomly selected fitting or fittingsand PEX reinforcing rings shall be used to determine dimen-sions. Measurements shall be made in accordance with TestMethod D 2122. Determine the diameters by making measure-ments at four points spaced
23、at approximately 45 apart aroundthe circumference. Inspection and gauging of taper joint endsshall be in accordance with ANSI B16.18, or ANSI B16.22, orMSS SP-104. Inspection and gaging of taper pipe threads shallbe in accordance with ANSI B1.20.1. All fittings that will besubjected to secondary pro
24、cesses of mechanical marking,which affect their dimensional tolerances, shall be tested intheir final marked configuration.7. Dimensions7.1 Dimensions and TolerancesThe dimensions and tol-erances of fitting components shall be as shown in Figs. 1-3when measured in accordance with 6.3.2. Dimensions a
25、ndproperties of flat and conical compression washer componentsof disc springs shall be in accordance with Table 1.7.1.1 AlignmentThe maximum angular variation of anyopening shall not exceed12 off the true centerline axis.7.1.2 Fittings with Solder Joint EndsExternal dimensionsof solder joint ends sh
26、all be in accordance with ANSI B.16.22,B16.18, or MSS SP-104.7.1.3 Tapered Threaded EndsFitting threads shall beright-hand conforming to ANSI B1.20.1. They shall be taperthreads (NPT).8. Workmanship, Finish and Appearance8.1 The sealing surfaces of the fitting(s) shall be smooth andfree of foreign m
27、aterial. The fitting walls shall be free ofcracks, holes, blisters, voids, foreign inclusions or other defectsthat are visible to the eye without magnification and that havepotential to affect the wall integrity.9. Assembly9.1 JointsMechanical cold flare compression fittings shallbe joined to PEX tu
28、bing by the procedure of 8.2. Fittings shallmeet the dimensional tolerances of this standard. PEX tubingshall meet the requirements of Specifications F 876 and F 877.9.1.1 Solder JointsSoldering of fitting joints shall becompleted prior to installation of the PEX tubing. Excessiveheat from the solde
29、ring operation will damage the PEX tubing.9.2 Assembly ProcedureRefer to Fig. 4 for a cross-sectionof a fully-assembled cone union with PEX tubing and malefitting end. To affix the mechanical cold flare compressionfitting to PEX tubing, the procedure shall be as follows:9.2.1 Cut the tubing square u
30、sing a cutter designed forplastic tubing. Inspect the end for burrs or foreign debris. Placethe proper-size cone union assembly (female fitting) onto theassembly tool. Place the PEX tubing into the tool, so that thecut end abuts the cone union. Grip the PEX tubing by closingthe locking handle of the
31、 tool until the tool locks. Fully closethe compression lever. This action both presses the grip ring ofthe cone union assembly onto the PEX tubing, and flares theend of the PEX tubing to an angle of 22. Open the compres-sion lever to release the PEX tubing and the fitting. Tighten thecone union nut
32、onto the mating (male) end of the desiredfitting, until the torque shown in Table 2 has been applied.Custom torque wrenches that are adjusted to slip at thesetorque values are available and appropriate.9.3 One assembly for testing purposes is one fitting withPEX tubing assembled onto each leg of the
33、 fitting.10. Quality Assurance10.1 When the product or product packaging is marked withthe ASTM designation F 1961, the manufacturer affirms thatthe product was manufactured, inspected, sampled, and testedin accordance with this specification, and has been found tomeet the requirements of this speci
