3、s specification covers metal insert fittings with splitring and compression nut (compression joint) and metal insertfittings with copper crimp rings (crimp joint) for four sizes ofcomposite pressure pipe. These fittings are intended for use in125 psi (690 kPa) cold- and hot-water distribution system
4、soperating at temperatures up to and including 180 F (82 C).(When used in polyethylene/aluminum/polyethylene systemsthe maximum operating temperature is limited by the pipe to140 F (60 C) and where applicable 180F (82C). Includedare the requirements for materials, workmanship, burst pres-sure, susta
5、ined pressure, excessive temperature and pressure,temperature cycling tests, and markings to be used on thefittings and rings. The fittings covered by this specification areintended for use in potable water distribution systems forresidential and commercial applications, water service, under-ground
6、irrigation systems, and radient panel heating systems,baseboard, snow- and ice-melt systems, and gases that arecompatible with the composite pipe and fittings.1.2 The values stated in inch-pound units are to be regardedas standard. Performance Requirements6.1 GeneralAll performance tests shall be performed onassemblies of fittings and PEX/AL/PEX pipe. Fittings, splitrings and crimp rings shall meet the material and dimens
28、ionalrequirements of this standard. PEX/AL/PEX pipe shall meetthe requirements of Specification F 1281. Assembly of testspecimens shall be in accordance with either 8.1 or 8.2,asapplicable. Each assembly shall contain at least one joint. Useseparate sets of assemblies for each performance test requi
29、re-ment.6.2 Hydrostatic BurstAssemblies shall meet the mini-mum hydrostatic burst requirements shown in Table 1 whentested in accordance with 9.5.6.3 Hydrostatic Sustained Pressure StrengthPipe and fit-ting assemblies shall not separate or leak when tested inaccordance with 9.6.6.4 ThermocyclingAsse

They shall betaper threads (NPT).8. Workmanship, Finish and Appearance8.1 The sealing surfaces of the insert shall be smooth andfree o

The fitting walls shall be free ofcracks, holes, blisters, voids, foreign inclusions or other defectsthat are visible to the naked eye and that affect the wallintegrity.8.1.1 AssemblyInsert fittings shall be joined to PE/AL/PEor PEX/AL/PEX pipe by the use of either a crimp joint
36、or acompression joint.8.1.2 Crimp JointsCrimp insert fittings shall be joined toPE/AL/PE or PEX/AL/PEX pipe by the compression of acopper crimp ring around the outer circumference of the pipeforcing the pipe material into annular spaces formed by ribs onthe fitting. 37、ss of the crimpring after it has been crimped shall be in accordance with Table5.8.1.2.1 Crimping ProcedureTo affix the insert fitting tothe pipe with the crimp ring, the crimping procedure shall be asfollows: slide the crimp ring onto the pipe, insert the ribbed endof the fitting into the end of th
38、e pipe until the pipe contacts theshoulder of the fitting or pipe stop. The crimp ring shall then bepositioned on the pipe so the edge of the crimp ring is18 to14in. (3.2 to 6.4 mm) from the end of the pipe. The jaws of thecrimping tool shall be centered over the crimp ring and the toolshall be held
39、 so that the crimping jaws are perpendicular to theaxis of the barb. The jaws of the crimping tool shall be closedaround the crimp ring, compressing the crimp ring onto thepipe. The crimp ring shall not be crimped more than once. Eachcrimp shall be checked to determine conformance to the aftercrimpe
