Scope1.1 This specification covers the requirements for smooth-wall perforated and nonperforated poly(vinyl chloride) (PVC)plastic pipe and couplings for use in subsurface drainagesystems

4、of highways, airports, and similar applications innominal sizes of 4, 6, and 8 in. and in pipe stiffnesses (PS) thatare designated as Type PS 28 and Type PS 46 in accordancewith its minimum pipe stiffness.1.2 Molded fittings for use with highway underdrain pipeare in accordance with Specification D

Terminology3.1 DefinitionsDefinitions are in accordance with Termi-nology F 412, and abbreviations are in accordance with Ter-minology D 1600, unless otherwise specified. The abbreviationfor poly(vinyl chloride) plastic is PVC.4. Classification4.1 Two classes (or pipe

17、stiffness) are included and desig-nated as PS 28 and PS 46 as determined in accordance with11.1.5. Materials5.1 The pipe shall be made of PVC plastic having aminimum cell classification of 12454 or 12364 as defined inSpecification D 1784 or a minimum cell classification of 11432or 11332 as defined i

18、n specification D 4396. HomopolymerPVC compounds must equal or exceed the requirements of thelisted cell classification numbers.5.2 Rework MaterialRework material from the manufac-turers own pipe or fittings production may be used by the samemanufacturer, provided that the pipe or fabricated fitting

19、sproduced meet all the requirements of this specification.6. Joint Systems6.1 Gasket-Type Joints, meeting the applicable requirementsof Specification D 3212, may be utilized.6.2 Solvent-Cement-Type Joints, made with bell ends meet-ing the requirements of Table 1; stop-type couplings inconformance wi

20、th Table 2; or sleeve-type couplings in con-formance with Table 3, may be utilized.6.2.1 Belled ends shall be formed so as to provide a uniformshoulder around the entire circumference of the pipe.6.2.2 Solvent-cemented joints shall be made using PVCcement meeting the requirements of Specification D

21、2564, andshall be made in accordance with Practice D 2855 and PracticeF 402.7. Requirements Requirements7.1 WorkmanshipThe pipe shall be homogeneousthroughout and essentially uniform in color, opacity, density,and other properties. The inside and outside surfaces shall besemimatte or glossy in appea

22、rance (depending on the type ofplastic) and free of chalking, sticky, or tacky material. Thesurfaces shall be free of excessive bloom, that is, slight bloomis acceptable. The pipe walls shall be free of cracks, holes,blisters, voids, foreign inclusion, or other defects that arevisible to the naked e

23、ye and that may affect the wall integrity.Holes deliberately placed in perforated pipe are acceptable.Bloom or chalking may develop in pipe exposed to direct raysof the sun (ultraviolet radiant energy) for extended periods andconsequently these requirements do not apply to pipe afterextended exposur

27、et dimensions shall be as shown in Table 1.F 758 95 (2007)e127.2.1 Outside DiameterThe outside diameter and toler-ances shall meet the requirements of Table 4 when measured inaccordance with Test Method D 2122. The tolerances forout-of-roundness shall apply to pipe prior to shipment.7.2.2 Wall Thick

28、nessThe actual wall thickness of pipeshall be the wall required to meet the physical requirements ofthis specification but not less than that shown in Table 4 whenmeasured in accordance with Test Method D 2122.7.2.3 LengthLaying length shall be 20 ft (6.1 m) (or asmutually agreed upon between the pu

29、rchaser and the manufac-turer). A tolerance of 61 in. (625 mm) shall be permitted.7.2.4 PerforationsPerforated pipe shall be perforated inaccordance with Table 5. The perforations shall be approxi-mately circular and cleanly cut. The spigot end, and bell, ofbelled-end pipe may be unperforated for a

30、length equal to thedepth of the socket or shoulder, or both.7.2.5 Integral Bell DimensionsIntegral bell dimensions ofpipe, bends, and sweeps shall comply with Table 1. Elasto-meric seal joints shall meet dimensions recommended by themanufacturer. The thickness of the wall shall be consideredsatisfac

31、tory if the bell was formed from pipe meeting therequirements of this specification.7.2.6 Sleeve-Type Coupling Dimensions Dimensions shallbe in accordance with Table 3. Sleeve-type couplings shallhave a wall thickness not less than that required for pipe andshall meet the requirements of Section 8.7

32、.2.7 Fitting Dimensions:7.2.7.1 Molded FittingsSee Annex A1.7.2.7.2 Fabricated fittings are acceptable provided they aremade from pipe that meets or exceeds all of the applicablerequirements of this specification.7.2.8 Bend Dimensions:7.2.8.1 The dimensions for bends shall be as shown in Table2.7.2.

33、8.2 The thickness of the wall shall be considered satis-factory if the bend was formed from Type PS 46 pipe thatmeets the requirements of this specification.8. Performance Requirements8.1 General:8.1.1 Pipe StiffnessThe pipe stiffness (F/DY) values shallbe in conformance with Table 6, when tested in

34、 accordancewith 11.1.8.2 Quality Control:8.2.1 ScopeThe tests in this section are producers qualitycontrol tests and are not intended for simulated service tests.8.2.2 Impact StrengthThe minimum drop weight impactstrength values for pipe and fabricated fittings shall be as givenin Table 7, when test

40、 FlatteningWhen examined without the use ofmagnification equipment, there shall be no evidence of split-ting, cracking, or breaking when pipe is tested in accordancewith 11.3.8.2.4 Solvent Cement Joint Tightness (Referee Test)Thesolvent-cement-type joints of nonperforated pipe shall not leakwhen tes

41、ted in accordance with 11.4.8.2.5 Extrusion QualityThe pipe shall not flake or disin-tegrate when tested for 20 min in accordance with Test MethodD 2152.9. Retest and Rejection9.1 If the results of any test(s) do not meet the requirementsof this specification, the test(s) may be conducted again inac

42、cordance with an agreement between the purchaser and theseller. There shall be no agreement to lower the minimumrequirement of the specification by such means as omittingtests that are a part of the specification, substituting ormodifying a test method, or by changing the specificationlimits. In ret

43、esting, the product requirements of this specifica-tion shall be met, and the test methods designated in thespecification shall be followed. If, upon retest, failure occurs,the quantity of product represented by the test(s) does not meetthe requirements of this specification.10. Conditioning10.1 Ref

44、eree TestingWhen conditioning is required fortests, the specimens shall be conditioned in accordance withProcedure A in Practice D 618 at 23 6 2C and 50 6 5%relative humidity for not less than 40 h prior to test. The impactspecimens and the surrounding conditioning medium are to bein thermal equilib

45、rium with one another at a temperature of 0to 1.6C. Tests shall be conducted under the same conditions oftemperature and humidity, unless otherwise specified.10.2 Quality Control:10.2.1 For quality control tests, specimens shall be condi-tioned for a minimum of3hinair,or1hinliquid at 23 6 2C.They sh

46、all be tested at 23 6 2C without regard to relativehumidity.10.2.2 For the impact test, specimens shall be conditioned at0 to 1.6C for at least1hinliquid or other suitable means toobtain thermal equilibrium.11. Test Methods11.1 Pipe StiffnessDetermine the pipe stiffness at 5 %deflection using Test M

47、ethod D 2412. Test three specimenseach 6 6116 in. (150 6 2 mm) long and determine the averagepipe stiffness at 5 % deflection in accordance with 9.1.9 of TestMethod D 2412. The pipe stiffness shall equal or exceed theminimum values listed in Table 6. Nonperforated pipe samplesshall be placed so that

48、 the minimum wall thickness is upper-most (adjacent to the top bearing plate). Perforated pipesamples shall be placed with the marking uppermost (see Table5).11.2 Impact ResistanceFive specimens, each 6 6116 in.(150 6 2 mm) long, shall be tested in accordance with TestMethod D 2444, using a 20-lb (9

49、.1-kg) Tup B, and the flat plate(Holder B). When testing is performed in an environmentwhere temperatures are above 0C, no more than 15 s shallelapse from the time of removal of the specimen from theconditioning bath until completion of that test. Perforatedspecimens must be positioned with the print marking upper-most, as shown in Table 5; other specimens may be positionedwith a random surface uppermost. All specimens shall belocated so that the contact point is centered under the tup. Allfive specimens shall pass. If one specimen fail
