3、g for crosslinked polyethylene plastichot- and cold-water distribution systems components made inone standard dimension ratio and intended for 100 psi (0.69MPa) water service up to and including a maximum workingtemperature of 180F (82C). Components are comprised oftubing and fittings. Requirements

4、and test methods are in-cluded for materials, workmanship, dimensions and tolerances,burst pressure, sustained pressure, excessive temperature andpressure, temperature cycling tests, and bend strength. Alsoincluded are tests related to system malfunctions. The compo-nents covered by this specificati

5、on are intended for use inresidential and commercial, hot and cold, potable water distri-bution systems as well as sealed central heating, includingunder-floor heating systems.1.2 The text of this specification references notes, footnotes,and appendixes which provide explanatory material. Thesenotes

Materials4.1 General PE

24、X tubing materials shall meet the require-ments as described in Specification F 876. Fitting and manifoldmaterials shall meet the applicable requirements as describedin Specifications F 1807, F 1865, F 1960, F 1961, F 2080,F 2159,orF 2434.4.2 Basic Materials DescriptionCrosslinked polyethylenetubing

25、 meeting the requirements of this specification areprimarily defined by two criteria namely, basic short-termproperties and long-term hydrostatic strength, 4.2.1 and 4.2.2respectively.4.2.1 Basic Short-Term PropertiesThis specification cov-ers tubing materials meeting the requirements of Specificati

26、onF 876.4.2.2 Long-Term Hydrostatic Pressure StrengthThisspecification covers PEX tubing which is further defined on thebasis of long-term hydrostatic strength tests (Appendix X1).4.3 CertificationPEX tubing and fittings, used for thedistribution of potable water, shall be products approved forthat

27、service by the regulatory bodies having such jurisdiction.These products shall be tested for that service by a nationallyrecognized and accredited testing laboratory and shall bear thecertification mark of the testing agency.5. Classification5.1 TubingThis specification classifies PEX tubing by asin

28、gle standard dimension ratio that shall be SDR 9, and by amaximum continuous use temperature that shall be 180F(82C), and by nominal tubing diameters from18 in. through 6in.5.2 FittingsThis specification classifies fittings includingmanifolds, intended for use in systems with PEX tubing, by amaximum

29、 continuous use temperature that shall be 180F(82C) and by nominal sizes from18 in. through 6 in. on thebasis of resistance to burst pressure, hydrostatic sustainedpressure, excessive temperature and pressure, and by ther-mocycling.6. Requirements6.1 WorkmanshipThe tubing shall be homogeneousthrough

30、out and free of visible cracks, holes, foreign inclusions,or other defects. 33、ification F 876. The tolerances for outsidediameters are also given in Table 1.6.2.1.2 Out-of-RoundnessThe maximum out-of-roundness requirements, shown in Table 1 for tubing, apply tothe average measured diameter after rounding with a roundingtool recommended by the manufacturer.6.2.2 Wall Thickness

34、Table 2 provides for wall thicknesstolerances. Calculated SDR 9 tubing wall thickness that fallbelow 0.070 in. (1.78 mm) shall be arbitrarily increased to thatvalue except for sizes14 in. and smaller.6.2.3 Fittings (Basic Dimensions)Fittings shall be com-patible with tubing made to the requirements

35、of Table 1 andTable 2. Fittings shall be made from materials that aregenerally regarded as corrosion resistant.6.3 Hydrostatic Burst:6.3.1 Tubing and fittings (tested as assemblies) shall meetthe minimum hydrostatic burst requirements shown in Table 3when tested in accordance with 7.6.6.3.2 Fittings

36、 assembled using the manufacturers instruc-tions shall meet the minimum hydrostatic burst requirementshown in Table 3 when tested in accordance with 7.6.6.3.2.1 If present, valves shall be tested in the open orunrestricted position.6.3.2.2 If the manifold has more than one connection size,the test p

37、ressure selected from Table 3 shall be based upon thelargest nominal PEX connection.6.4 Hydrostatic Sustained Pressure Strength6.4.1 Tubing and fittings (tested as assemblies) shall meetthe minimum hydrostatic sustained pressure strength require-ments shown in Table 4 when tested in accordance with

48、 runs. Fittingsare used when a change in direction of 90 or greater and a bend radius of6 times the outside diameter is needed. The test procedures in 6.6.2 and6.6.3 are intended to evaluate PEX tubing installed in tight bendapplications in accordance with the procedures in X2.3.5 and X2.3.6. Thisap

49、plication applies to tubing up to and including 1 in. nominal diameteronly.6.6.2 Hot-bent tubing, with a radius of 2.5 times the outsidediameter and consisting of a continuous bend length inducingnot less than 90 angle, shall meet the minimum hydrostaticsustained pressure strength requirements shown in Table 4when tested in accordance with 7.4. The bend length and bendangle is kept throughout the testing period by rigid supportsimmediately outside the bend.6.6.3 Cold-bent tubing, with a radius of 6 times th
