Scope*1.1 This specification covers requirements, test methods, and marking requirements

3、for system components when tested withnominal SDR9 crosslinked polyethylene (PEX) tubing as a system. Systems are intended for 100 psi (0.69 MPa) water service upto and including a maximum working temperature of 180 F (82 C). Requirements and test methods are included for materials,workmanship, dime

4、nsions and tolerances, burst pressure, hydrostatic sustained pressure, excessive temperature and pressure,corrosion resistance, and thermo-cyclingthermocycling tests. The components covered by this specification are intended for use inin, but not limited to, residential and commercial,commercial hot

5、 and cold,cold potable water distribution systems or otherapplications such as reclaimed water, fire protection, municipal water service lines, radiant panel heating and cooling systems,hydronic baseboard heating distribution systems, snow and ice melting systems, geothermal ground loops, district h

6、eating, turfconditioning, compressed air distribution, and building services pipe.1.2 The text of this specification references notes, footnotes, and appendixes which provide explanatory material. Plastic tubing denotes a particulardiameter schedule of plastic pipe in which outside diameter of the tubing is equal to the nominal size plus 18 in. Plastic pi

26、pe outsidediameter schedule conforms to ANSI B 36.10.3.2 Definitions of Terms Specific to This Standard:3.2.1 crosslinked polyethylene plasticsplastics prepared by crosslinking (curing) polyethylene compounds. a polyethylenematerial that has undergone a change in molecular structure through processi

27、ng whereby a majority of the polymer chains arechemically linked.3.2.2 fittingan appurtenance such as coupling, elbow or teea piping component used to join or terminate sections of PEXtubing or to provide changes of direction or branching in a piping system. This includes appurtenances such as coupl

28、ings, elbows,tees, or plugs used to connect tubing or as an accessory to tubing.3.2.3 standard dimension ratio (SDR)a selected series of numbers in which the ratio of outside diameter to wall thickness.For PEX tubing, it is calculated by dividing the average outside diameter to of the tubing in inch

29、es or in millimeters by theminimum wall thickness dimension ratios are constant for all sizes ofin inches or millimeters. If the wall thickness calculated bythis formula is less than 0.070 in. (1.78 mm) it shall be arbitrarily increased to 0.070 in. except for nominal tubing sizes 516 tubingin each

Materials4.1 GeneralPEX systems shall use crosslinked polyethylene tubing as des

34、cribed in Specification F876.4.2 Fitting and manifold materials shall meet the applicable requirements as described in Specifications F1807, F1865, F1960,F1961F2080, F2080F2098, F2159, F2434, F2735, or F2854.4.3 CertificationPEX tubing and system components, used for the distribution of potable wate

35、r, shall be products approvedfor that service by the regulatory bodies having such jurisdiction. These products shall be tested for that service by a nationallyrecognized and accredited testing laboratory testing laboratory that is accredited for this specification and shall bear thecertification ma

36、rk of the testing agency.5. Classification5.1 FittingsThis specification classifies fittings, including manifolds, system components, intended for use in systems withPEX tubing, by a maximum continuous use temperature that shall be 180 F (82 C) and by nominal tubing sizes (NTS) from 18in. through 6

37、in. on the basis of resistance to burst pressure, hydrostatic sustained pressure, excessive temperature pressurecapability, and by thermocycling. Fittings shall be compatible with tubing made to the requirements of Specification F876.6. Requirements6.1 GeneralCompliance with this specification requi

38、res that fittings contained in Specifications F1807, F1960, F2080, F2098,F2159, F2434, F2735, and F2854 and system components must meet all requirements of this section.6.2 WorkmanshipFittings shall be made from materials that are homogeneous throughout homogeneous throughout, uniformin appearance a

39、nd free of visible cracks, holes, foreign inclusions, or other defects. All sealing surfaces shall be smooth and freeof foreign material. The walls of fittings and manifolds shall be free of cracks, holes, cracks, holes, blisters, voids, foreigninclusions, or other defects that are visible to the na

40、ked eye and may affect fitting integrity. All sealing surfaces shall be smoothand free of foreign material.6.2 Dimensions and Tolerances:6.2.1 The dimensions and tolerances of fittings shall meet the specific requirements contained in Specifications F1807, F1865,F1960, F1961, F2080, F2159, F2434, an

41、d F2735 or other recognized specification.6.2.2 Fittings shall be compatible with tubing made to the requirements of Specification F876.6.3 Corrosion ResistanceDimensions and Tolerances: Fittings shall be made from materials that are generally regarded ascorrosion resistant.6.3.1 Compliance with thi

44、nent assemblies assembled using the manufacturers instructionsshall meet the minimum hydrostatic burst requirements shown in Table 1 when tested in accordance with 7.67.7.6.5.2 Manifolds System components with integral shut-offs (valves) shall be tested with all ports in the full-open or unrestricte

45、dposition.6.5.2.1 If the manifold system component assembly has more than one connection size, the test pressure selected from Table1 shall be based upon the largest nominal PEX connection.6.6 Hydrostatic Sustained Pressure Strength6.6.1 Tubing and fittings (tested as assemblies) System component as
