Terminology3.1 Definition:3.1.1 commercial food waste disposerintended for grind-ing food waste into small particles which are then flushed bywater into a sanitary sewer system. Food wastes ca
9、n be cookedor noncooked soils from the preparation or serving of foods.Disposers are not intended to be used for grinding glass, china,metals, clam or oyster shells, large bones, wood, paper,cardboard, or plastic. A disposer shall consist of the followingprincipal parts: Motor, grind chamber, flywhe

Materials and Design6.1 All materials shall be as specified as follows:6.1.1 Materials used shall be free from defects that wouldadversely affect the performance or maintenance ability ofindividual components of the overall assembly.6.1.2 Corrosion Resistant Ste

Construction Requiremen
23、ts7.1 General:7.1.1 The disposer shall be complete, ready for water, waste,and electrical connection; freestanding or with provision tomount to sink, or cone, or trough, or special support mount.7.1.2 The disposer shall grind soil by means of a rotatingflywheel with cutting blocks coming in close co
24、ntact with astationary shredder ring with multiple cutting edges. Finelyground soil is carried to drain by a continuous water flow.7.1.3 When supplied with a control panel, water flow shallbegin automatically when the disposer is started, water flowshall stop when the disposer is stopped, or water f
25、low maycontinue until a delay timer automatically shuts off the water.7.1.4 Water shall flow into the disposer from the hopper,cone, sink, trough, or special mount to which it is connected.7.2 Valves and FittingsFlow valves and fittings or freshwater solenoid valves, or both, when provided, shall be
26、 ofcorrosion-resisting materials. Solenoid valves shall be fullyautomatic and suitable for 100F (37.8C) water.7.3 Hopper (Upper Housing)Hoppers shall be ofcorrosion-resistant steel, nonferrous corrosion-resistant mate-rial, cast iron, coated carbon steel, or equivalent. Material shallbe of 0.045-in.
27、 (1.143-mm) minimum thickness sheet metal or0.125-in. (3.18-mm) minimum thickness cast material.7.4 Grind Chamber (Lower Housing)Grind chambershall be of corrosion resistant steel, nonferrous corrosion-resisting material, or cast iron. Material shall be of 0.100-in.(2.54-mm) minimum thickness cast m
28、aterial.7.5 Shredder RingShredder rings shall be of abrasion-resistant steel or iron with minimum thickness of 0.125-in.(3.18 mm). Material hardness shall be Rockwell “C” 40minimum.7.6 FlywheelFlywheels shall be of iron or alloy steelcasting or forging with minimum thickness of 0.125-in. (3.18mm). H
29、ardness of the material shall be RB70 minimum.7.7 Cutting TeethCutting teeth shall be of corrosion-resistant or alloy steel or iron. 33、sposer.7.13 Plating, Coating, and Painting Unless otherwisespecified, disposers or their individual components shall beplated, coated, or painted in accordance with the manufactur-ers standard practice.8. Performance Requirements8.1 Disposers shall conform to the requirements of UL 430and ASSE 1009.
34、9. Test Method9.1 Leakage and Operation TestTest each disposer forleakage and operation in accordance with the manufacturersstandard practice.10. Certification10.1 Certification of compliance with the standards cited inthis specification shall be provided if required in the purchasedocument.10.2 UL
35、CertificationAcceptable evidence of meeting therequirements of UL 430 shall be UL listing, UL label, or acertified test report from a recognized independent testing lab.11. Product Marking11.1 Identification shall be permanently and legibly markedon a corrosion-resistant material securely attached t
36、o themachine at the source of manufacture. Identification shallinclude the manufacturers model and serial number, name andtrade name to be readily identifiable. Information required byUL 430 shall be included on the data plate.12. Instructional Material12.1 Manufacturers standard commercial publicat
