Terminology3.1 Definition:3.1.1 commercial food waste disposerintended for grind-ing food waste into small particles which are then flushed bywater into a sanitary sewer system. Food wastes can be cookedor n

9、oncooked soils from the preparation or serving of foods.Disposers are not intended to be used for grinding glass, china,metals, clam or oyster shells, large bones, wood, paper,cardboard, or plastic. A disposer shall consist of the followingprincipal parts: Motor, grind chamber, flywheel, shredder ri

Materials and Design6.1 All materials shall be as specified as follows:6.1.1 Materials used shall be free from defects that wouldadversely affect the performance or maintenance ability ofindividual components of the overall assembly.6.1.2 Corrosion Resistan

18、t SteelCorrosion-resistant steeland heat resisting steel shall conform to the requirements ofany 300 or 400 series steel specified in Specifications A 167,A 554, A 276, and A 582.6.1.3 Aluminum AlloyAluminum alloy shall conform tothe requirements specified in Specification B 108 or Specifica-tion B

Construction Require

22、ments Construction Requirements7.1 General:7.1.1 The disposer shall be complete, ready for water, waste,and electrical connection; freestanding or with provision tomount to sink, or cone, or trough, or special support mount.7.1.2 The disposer shall grind soil by means of a rotatingflywheel with cutt

23、ing blocks coming in close contact with astationary shredder ring with multiple cutting edges. Finelyground soil is carried to drain by a continuous water flow.7.1.3 When supplied with a control panel, water flow shallbegin automatically when the disposer is started, water flowshall stop when the di

24、sposer is stopped, or water flow maycontinue until a delay timer automatically shuts off the water.7.1.4 Water shall flow into the disposer from the hopper,cone, sink, trough, or special mount to which it is connected.7.2 Valves and FittingsFlow valves and fittings or freshwater solenoid valves, or

25、both, when provided, shall be ofcorrosion-resisting materials. Solenoid valves shall be fullyautomatic and suitable for 100F (37.8C) water.7.3 Hopper (Upper Housing)Hoppers shall be ofcorrosion-resistant steel, nonferrous corrosion-resistant mate-rial, cast iron, coated carbon steel, or equivalent.

26、Material shallbe of 0.045-in. (1.143-mm) minimum thickness sheet metal or0.125-in. (3.18-mm) minimum thickness cast material.7.4 Grind Chamber (Lower Housing)Grind chambershall be of corrosion resistant steel, nonferrous corrosion-resisting material, or cast iron. Material shall be of 0.100-in.(2.54

27、-mm) minimum thickness cast material.7.5 Shredder RingShredder rings shall be of abrasion-resistant steel or iron with minimum thickness of 0.125-in.(3.18 mm). Material hardness shall be Rockwell “C” 40minimum.7.6 FlywheelFlywheels shall be of iron or alloy steelcasting or forging with minimum thick

28、ness of 0.125-in. (3.18mm). Hardness of the material shall be RB70 minimum.7.7 Cutting TeethCutting teeth shall be of corrosion-resistant or alloy steel or iron. Material shall be hardened to RC45 minimum.7.8 Water SealA water seal shall be provided to keep soiland water from passing along the drive

29、 shaft into bearings ormotor.7.9 BearingsDisposer bearings shall be tapered roller orball type.7.10 MotorMotors shall be single phase or three phase,60 Hz, rated from 1/2 HP to 10 HP. The leg(s) shallhave an adjusting foot for raising

32、, lowering, and leveling thedisposer.7.13 Plating, Coating, and Painting Unless otherwisespecified, disposers or their individual components shall beplated, coated, or painted in accordance with the manufactur-ers standard practice.8. Performance Requirements8.1 Disposers shall conform to the requir

33、ements of UL 430and ASSE 1009.9. Test Method9.1 Leakage and Operation TestTest each disposer forleakage and operation in accordance with the manufacturersstandard practice.10. Certification10.1 Certification of compliance with the standards cited inthis specification shall be provided if required in

34、 the purchasedocument.10.2 UL CertificationAcceptable evidence of meeting therequirements of UL 430 shall be UL listing, UL label, or acertified test report from a recognized independent testing lab.11. Product Marking11.1 Identification shall be permanently and legibly markedon a corrosion-resistan

35、t material securely attached to themachine at the source of manufacture. Identification shallinclude the manufacturers model and serial number, name andtrade name to be readily identifiable. Information required byUL 430 shall be included on the data plate.12. Instructional Material12.1 Manufacturer

36、s standard commercial publications shallinclude the following information:12.1.1 Installation Instructions,12.1.2 Operating guide,12.1.3 Routine maintenance and service procedures,12.1.4 Replacement parts list.12.2 Manuals shall comply with Specification F 760.13. Quality Assurance13.1 Unless otherw

37、ise specified in the contract or purchaseorder, the manufacturer is responsible for the performance ofall requirements as specified in this specification. Except asspecified in the contract or purchase order, the manufacturermay test at his own or any other facilities suitable for theperformance of

Packaging Requirements14.1 Unless otherwise specified, packaging shall be manu-facturers standard commercial packaging as meets interstateshipping requirements and in accordance with Practice D 3951.15. When specified in the purchase order, supplementaryrequirements shall apply when this standard is used in govern-ment procurement of commercial food waste disposers. Theidentification plate shall include the contract number, nationalstock number, name, brand,

40、 or trademark of the manufacturerof such name character as to be readily traceable to themanufacturer.S2. Navy SupplementThe unit shall be furnished with awatertight control box in accordance with UL/NEMA 12.ASTM International takes no position respecting the validity of any patent rights asserted i
