Scope1.1 This specification covers the general characteristics oflow stretch or static kernmantle ropes used for rescueappl

3、ications, whatever their constituent material. This specifi-cation does not apply to dynamic rope intended for leadclimbing.1.2 This specification covers small diameter sizes com-monly used in life safety applications. These include sizes 7 to16 mm (932 to58 in.).1.3 The values stated in SI units sh

4、all be considered asstandard. Values in inch-pound units are included for reference.1.4 In the event of any conflict between the text of thisspecification and any references cited, the text of this specifi-cation takes preference.1.5 This specification may involve hazardous materials,operations, and

7、is Standard:3.1.1 diameteractual rope diameter as determined in ac-cordance with Section 9.1 of CI 1801-98.3.1.2 kernmantlea rope design consisting of two ele-ments: an interior core (kern) and an outer sheath (mantle).3.1.2.1 coreinterior (kern) of a kernmantle rope. Coremay be of any continuous co

8、nstruction including parallelstrands, twisted strands, braided strands, or braided.3.1.2.2 sheathouter cover (mantle) of a kernmantle rope.3.1.3 knotabilitya value used to determine the ability of alife safety rope to hold a knot.3.1.4 life safety ropea rope which is mandated, supplied,or used, or a

9、 combination thereof, to support or protect ahuman life.3.1.5 low stretch ropea rope with an elongation greaterthan 6 % and less than 10 % at 10 % of its minimum breakingstrength.3.1.6 minimum breaking strengthfor the purposes of lowstretch or static kernmantle rope, the minimum breakingstrength sha

10、ll be a value three standard deviations below themean of the maximum force applied to five or more specimensbefore failure as determined in Section 9.2 of CI 1801-98.3.1.7 static ropea rope with a maximum elongation of 6 %at 10 % of its minimum breaking strength.4. Material4.1 The rope shall be fabr

11、icated from continuous filamentheat and light-resistant material of industrial, high tenacitygrade.4.2 Material used in the construction of life rescue ropeshall be sufficient to produce a rope which meets the physicalproperties and performance requirements of this specification.5. Fiber Finish5.1 T

12、he rope maker shall certify that any finish used on therope shall not reduce the performance of the rope below thespecifications in this specification.6. Construction6.1 The construction shall be sufficient to produce a ropewhich meets or exceeds the physical properties and perfor-mance requirements

Performance Requirements7.1 Diameter:7.1.1 For the purposes of this specification, rope diameter isconsidered to be the actual diameter of the rope as determinedin Section 9.1 of CI 1801-98.7.1.2 The diameter reported shall be within 5 % of theactual diameter.7.2 Minimum Break

17、ing Strength (MBS):7.2.1 MBS shall be determined as the new rope minimumbreaking strength when tested according to Section 9.2 of CI1801-98.7.2.2 MBS of life safety rope shall meet or exceed thoselisted in Table 1.7.3 Elongation:7.3.1 Elongation shall be determined in accordance withSection 9.3 of C

18、I 1801-98.7.3.2 Life safety ropes that have a maximum elongation of6 % at 10 % of the minimum breaking strength shall beclassified as static per CI 1801-98.7.3.3 Life safety ropes that have an elongation greater than6 % and less than 10 % of the minimum breaking strength shallbe classified as low st

19、retch per CI 1801-98.7.4 Knotability:7.4.1 Knotability for all diameters of life safety rope shall beno greater than 1.5 and shall be determined in accordance withSection 9.4 of CI 1801-98.8. Other Requirements8.1 It is the responsibility of the manufacturer to have aQuality Assurance (QA) program i

20、n effect to ensure compli-ance with these requirements.8.2 Labeling:8.2.1 All rescue ropes shall have an internal marker runningthe entire length of the rope which includes at least the nameof the manufacturer, the year of manufacture of the rope, thecountry of origin, and the standards with which t

21、he ropecomplies. All information shall be repeated at least every threefeet.8.2.2 All rescue ropes shall be sold with a tag or bookletwhich includes at least the following information:8.2.2.1 Manufacturers name and address.8.2.2.2 Materials used in the rope.8.2.2.3 Diameter, as specified by CI 1801-

22、98.8.2.2.4 Minimum Breaking Strength (MBS), as specified byCI 1801-98.8.2.2.5 Elongation, as specified by CI 1801-98.8.2.2.6 Inspection and care criteria. Such criteria shall be incompliance with Guide E1740. Additional information mayalso be appropriate.8.2.3 All rescue ropes shall include a warnin

23、g label contain-ing at least the following:8.2.3.1 A warning that serious death or injury may resultfrom the improper use of the rope.8.2.3.2 A warning that special training and knowledge arerequired to use the rope.8.2.3.3 A warning that the use and inspection of the ropeshall be in accordance with

24、 the manufacturers instructions.9.
