Significance and Use4.1 This practice is for use by designers and specifiers, regulatory agencies, owners, and inspection organizations whoare involved in the rehabilitation of sewer service laterals andits connection to the main through the use of a resin-impregnated tube in
23、stalled within an existing sewer lateral. Asfor any practice, modifications may be required for specific jobconditions.5. Materials5.1 Tube and Sheet:5.1.1 The main sheet and tube shall consist of one or morelayers of absorbent textile i.e. needle punched felt or circularknit that meet the requireme
24、nts of Practice F1216 and Speci-fication D5813, Sections 6 and 8. The main sheet and tube shallbe constructed to withstand installation pressures, have suffi-cient strength to bridge missing pipe segments, and flexibilityto fit irregular pipe sections. The volume of resin used shouldbe sufficient to
25、 fill all voids in the tube material at nominalthickness and diameter. The wet-out main sheet and tube shallhave a uniform thickness and excess resin distribution thatwhen compressed at installation pressures will meet or exceedthe design thickness after cure.5.1.2 The outside layer of the tube (bef
26、ore inversion) andthe interior of the main sheet (before inflation) shall be coatedwith an impermeable, translucent flexible membrane. The mainsheet before insertion shall be permanently marked as a lateralidentification correlating to the address of the building thelateral pipe services. The main s
27、heet and tube shall besurrounded by a second impermeable, flexible translucentmembrane (translucent bladder) that will contain the resin andfacilitate vacuum impregnation and monitoring of the resinsaturation during the resin impregnation (wet-out) procedure.5.1.3 The main sheet and lateral tube sha
28、ll be a one-pieceassembly formed as a TEE or WYE shaped fitting. Nointermediate or encapsulated elastomeric layers shall be in thetextile that may cause delamination in the cured in place pipe. The main sheet will be flat with one end overlapping thesecond end and sized accordingly to create a circul
29、ar liningequal to the inner diameter of the main pipe. The lateral tubewill be continuous in length and the wall thickness shall beuniform. The lateral tube shall include a hydrophilic O-ringattached to the interior surface at the tail end of the tube. Thelateral tube will be capable of conforming t
30、o offset joints, bells, and disfigured pipe sections.5.2 Resin:5.2.1 The resin/liner system shall conform to Test MethodD3681, 10 000-h test.5.2.2 The resin shall be a corrosion resistant polyester, vinylester, epoxy or silicate resin and catalyst system that whenproperly cured within the composite p
31、ipe assembly, meets therequirements of Practice F1216, the physical properties herein, and those, which are to be utilized in the design of the MLCIPLfor this project.5.2.3 The resin shall produce a MLCIPL, which will complywith the structural and chemical resistance requirements ofPractice F1216.6.
32、Design Considerations6.1 The MLCIPL shall be designed in accordance withPractice F1216,Appendix X1 in respect to the lateral and mainline tubes. If the mainline pipe has been renewed with astructural lining from manhole to manhole, then the mainlineportion of the MLCIPL is designed only for hydrosta

Installation Recommendations7.1 Access SafetyPrior to entering access areas such asmanholes or an excavation pit, performing inspection orcleaning operations, an evaluation of the atmosphere to
34、deter-mine the presence of toxic or flammable vapors or lack ofoxygen shall be undertaken in accordance with local, state, orfederal safety regulations.7.1.1 Cleaning and Pre-Inspection and Post Inspection, asper NASSCO (National Association of Sewer Service Compa-nies) Guidelines.7.1.2 Accessing the
35、 LateralA clean-out must be locatedoutside of the building and upstream at the upper end of thefinished lateral lining. In order to access both the upstream anddownstream sides of the lateral pipe, it is recommended thatthe cleanout isTEE shaped where the lateral and riser pipe join.7.1.3 PluggingTh
36、e upstream side of the cleanout shall beplugged during insertion and curing of the MLCIPL assemblyensuring no flows enter the pipe and no air, steam or odors willenter the building. When required, the main pipe flows will beby-passed. The pumping system will be sufficiently sized fornormal to peak f
37、low conditions. The upstream manhole isF2561 112monitored at all times and an emergency deflate system will beincorporated so that the plugs may be removed at any timewithout requiring confined space entry.7.1.4 Inspection of PipelinesThe interior of the pipelineshall be carefully inspected to deter
38、mine the location of anycondition that shall prevent proper installation, such as roots, and collapsed or crushed pipe. These conditions shall be notedso that they can be corrected before installation of theMLCIPL. Experienced personnel trained in locating breaks, obstacles, and service connections by
39、 closed circuit televisionshall perform inspection of pipelines.7.1.5 Line ObstructionsThe existing service lateral shallbe clear of obstructions that prevent the proper insertion andexpansion of the lining system. Changes in pipe size shall beaccommodated, by sizing the lateral tube according to th
40、e pipediameter and condition. Obstructions may include dropped oroffset joints of no more than 20 % of inside pipe diameter.7.2 Resin ImpregnationThe lateral tube and main sheetencapsulated within the translucent bladder (liner/bladder as-sembly) shall be vacuum-impregnated with resin (wet-out)under
41、 controlled conditions. The volume of resin used shall besufficient to fill all voids in the textile lining material atnominal thickness and diameter. The volume shall be adjustedby adding 5 to 10 % excess resin for the change in resinvolume due to polymerization and to allow for any migrationof res

No dryor unsaturated area in the main sheet or lateral tube shall beacceptable upon visual inspection.7.3 MLCIPL InsertionThe lateral tube and inversion blad-der will be inserted into the carrying device. The main bladderis connected to the launchi

Atwo-part 100 % solid epoxy shall be applied as a two-inch(2-in.) wide band in a volume of 300 mL to the main sheet/lateral tube interface. Both the laun
44、ching and carrying deviceare pulled into the pipe using a cable winch. The pull iscomplete when the main sheet/ lateral tube interface is alignedwith the service connection within the main pipe. The lateraltube is completely protected during the pull. The main sheet issupported upon the rigid “T” la

TheMLCIPL assembly shall not be contaminated or diluted byexposure to dirt, debris, or water during the pull.7.4 The bladder is inflated causing the tubular main sheet tobe unfolded and the hydrophilic o-rings expanded
46、as both arepressed against the main pipe. The lateral tube is invertedthrough the center of the tubular shaped main sheet up into theexisting lateral pipe by the action of the lateral bladder as thetube is fully extended to the designated termination point. Themain and lateral bladders shall extend
47、past the terminationpoints of the main sheet and the tube causing ends to remainopen whereby no cutting for reinstatement is required.7.5 CuringAfter insertion is complete, pressure is main-tained pressing the MLCIPL firmly against the inner pipe wall. The MLCIPL is chemically cured at ambient temper

The heating equipment shall becapable of delivering and circulating a mixture of steam and airor hot water throughout the MLCIPL to uniformly raise thetemperature above the temperature required to cure the resin. The curing of the MLCIPL must take into account the
49、existingpipe material, the resin system, and ground conditions (tem-perature, moisture level, and thermal conductivity of the soil). When using a heat source, temperatures shall be monitored andlogged at the upstream end of the lateral lining during the cureand cool down cycles. The manufacturers recommended cureschedule shall be submitted.7.6 MLCIPL ProcessingCuring shall be done withoutpressure interruption with air or a mixture of air and steam forthe proper duration of time per the resin manufacturersrecommendations.
