Scope1.1 This guide establishes the recommended minimum re-quirements for the design, construction and performance ofself-closing and self-latching sin

It is intended to provide an added degree ofreliability in the performance of the self-closing and self-latching devices mounted to these gates.1.2 This guide should be referenced whenever any otherstandard requires a single leaf access gate to be self-closin

4、g andself-latching, with the exception of standards for pool oroutdoor child safety gates.1.3 The values stated in inch-pound units are to be regardedas standard. The values given in parentheses are mathematicalconversions to SI units that are provided for information onlyand are not considered stan

It is theresponsibility of the user of this standard to establish appro-priate safety and health practices and determine the applica-bility of regulatory limitations prior to use. After ins

6、tallationand inspection, it is the responsibility of the homeowner orproperty manager to inspect and adjust the hardware, or thegate, or both, to compensate for ground movement and otherfactors so that the gate continues to effectively self-close andself-latch.2. Terminology2.1 access gateany portio

11、rpose gates.3.2 This guide does not apply to double leaf or double driveaccess gates.3.3 This guide does not have the effect of law, nor is itintended to supersede Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)guidelines, local codes or ordinances of a more restrictivenature.4. General Performance4.1 Self-Cl

12、osing General-Purpose Access GatesWhen itis specified that single leaf access gates must be self-closing,they shall be fitted with a self-closing device(s) that will returnthe gate to the closed position and operate the latching devicewithout the application of manual force.4.2 Self-Latching General

13、-Purpose Access GatesWhen itis specified that single leaf access gates should be self-latching,they shall be fitted with a device that latches in the closedposition without the application of manual force.5. Requirements5.1 Self-Closing Single leaf access general-purpose gatesshall close from two op

United States1manual force, through the action of the self-closing device,from two open positions: a static position 90 degrees from theclosed position or when the gate has been opened at least 12 in.5.3 The self-latching mechanism o

17、r self-closing deviceshould be capable of adjustment to compensate for changes ingate alignment during and after installation.5.4 The self-latching device on a single leaf general-purposeaccess gate shall be capable of sustaining manual force,including shaking, jarring or applying either an upward o

18、rdownward manual force on the access gate at the time ofinstallation without:5.4.1 Any part breaking or fracturing;5.4.2 Any component becoming permanently deformed bymore than14 in. (6.4 mm) over its length;5.4.3 The gate becoming unlatched; or5.4.4 Allowing the access gate to be disconnected from

19、thefence post.NOTE 1After installation and inspection, it is the responsibility of thehomeowner or the property manager to inspect and adjust the hardware, orthe gate, or both, to compensate for ground movement and other factors sothat the gate continues to effectively self-close and self-latch.6.
