2、r of last revision. A number in parentheses indicates the year of last reapproval. Asuperscript epsilon () indicates an editorial change since the last revision or reapproval.1. Scope1.1 This specification establishes minimum performance, classification, and labeling requirements for protective cloth

3、ingworn by operators applying pesticide products, primarily fieldstrength, in liquid form.1.2 Protective clothing items covered by this specificationinclude, but are not necessarily limited to, liquid-tight orspray-tight garments, coveralls, jackets, shirts, and pants.1.3 This specification addresse

4、s protection provided byprotective accessories, with the exception of those used for theprotection of the head, hands, and feet.1.4 This specification does not address protection againstbiocides, fumigants, or highly volatile liquids.1.5 The values given in SI units are to be regarded as thestandard

5、.1.6 This standard does not purport to address all of thesafety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is theresponsibility of the user of this standard to establish appro-priate safety and health practices and determine the applica-bility of regulatory limitations prior to use.2. Referenced

Classification and Test Requirements4.1 All protective clothing complying with this specificationshall fulfill the requirements of ISO 13688 and shall be testedand classified by the level of protection based on

21、the material, seam, and garment requirements included in Sections 5-7.Information on tests to be conducted for each level of protec-tion is included in Table 1.4.2 Level 1 garments shall be made of materials and withseams that demonstrate a minimum liquid penetration resis-tance when tested in accord

22、ance with tests specified in Table 1.The mechanical strength performance requirements are thesame for all levels of garments, and the garments shall pass apractical performance test.4.3 Level 2 garments shall be made of materials and withseams that demonstrate a higher level of liquid penetrationres

23、istance than Level 1 garments. The mechanical strengthperformance requirements are the same for all levels. Thegarments shall pass a practical performance test before beingsubmitted to a low-level spray test of the whole garment.4.4 If, for a particular pesticide, additional testing is re-quired to

24、fully characterize the material (this shall be decidedon the basis of the risk assessment provided for the registrationof the specific pesticide), the material shall also be tested forpermeation resistance using the pesticide in question. Whentested with specific pesticide formulations, information

25、regard-ing the test liquid shall be included in the information providedwith the garment. The mechanical strength performance re-quirements are the same for all levels. The garments shall passa practical performance test before being submitted to ahigh-level spray test of the whole garment, which is

26、 moresevere than the test for Level 2 garments. Level 3 protectiveclothing includes accessories such as aprons, protectivesleeves, and material placed below knapsack/backpack spray-ers, which is used for extra protection during spraying, mixing, and loading. Whole body testing is not required for acc

Performance Requirements of Protective ClothingMaterials5.1 PreconditioningAll protective clothing materials ormaterial assemblies shall undergo 30 cycles of cleaning inaccordance with the manufacturers instructions before testing,if the manufacturers instruc

However, garments that, in accordance with themanufacturers instructions, can be cleaned fewer than 30times shall undergo only as many cycles of cleaning asindicated by the manufacturers instructions. After the lastcleaning cycle, materials to be tested

29、 for penetration shall beair dried and shall not be ironed before testing.NOTE 1Garments do not need to be dried between wash cycles.5.1.1 If the manufacturer requires special cleaning or main-tenance conditions, this information shall be included as part ofa warning label in accordance with Section

30、 8.NOTE 2The purpose of the warning label is to inform the user ofspecial requirements that, if not followed, have the potential to impact theprotective properties of the garment. Examples of special conditionsinclude, but are not limited to, use of a specific detergent or use of heatsuch as tumble

If the average of three readings is within 10 % of thethreshold, the test shall be repeated for an additional set ofthree readings

37、, and the average of six readings shall be used toclassify the material. If more than one type of material is usedto construct the garment, three specimens of each material shallbe tested. If the material fails to meet therequirement, Test Method F2130, Method B, an analyticmethod, can be used to verify the results obtained for MethodA.5.2.4 Materials classified as Level 2 shall have an averagepenetration value of 5 % or less. If the material fails to meet therequirement,

41、Test Method F2130, Method B, an analyticmethod, can be used to verify the results obtained for MethodA.NOTE 3It is possible that some materials, such as those with amicroporous membrane, will allow water and not the a.i. to penetratethrough the fabric. The maximum allow-able penetration of 40 % is derived from the pipette data analysis of cottonand

43、 cotton/polyester garment materials typically used for operator expo-sure studies. Therefore, it is not possible to substitute laboratory data fromthe pipette method for field penetration data. For this reason, the 40 %limit shall not be used to calculate default protection factors used forexposure

Then increasethe pressure at increments of 1 kPa

49、isrequired to fully characterize the material (this shall be decidedon the basis of the risk assessment provided for the registrationof the specific pesticide), the material shall also be tested inaccordance with Test Method F739. The average of the threepermeation readings shall be used to determine the normalizedbreakthrough time (see Note 5). The test liquid shall be thespecific pesticide formulation diluted with water in accordancewith the manufacturers instructions. Materials classified forLevel 3 garments shall have a normalized breakthrough time30
