Scope1.1 This consumer safety specification establishes perfor-mance requirements, test methods, and labeling requirementsto promote the safe use of infant bath tubs. It also co
8、vers slings,pads, inserts and similar accessories when such accessories areused with the infant bath tub.1.2 This consumer safety specification is intended to reducethe risk of death and minimize injury to infants resulting fromuse and reasonably foreseeable abuse of infant bath tubs andinfant bath

32、be completelyassembled in accordance with the manufacturers instructions.4.2 The product to be tested shall be in a room with anambient temperature of 73 6 9F (23 6 5C) for at least 1 hprior to testing. Testing then shall be conducted within thistemperature range.4.3 All testing required by this con
33、sumer safety specifica-tion shall be conducted on the same product sample, unlessotherwise specified.5. 35、rated as a result of testing tothis consumer safety specification.5.3 Lead in PaintsAll paint and surface coatings on theproduct shall comply with the requirements of 16 CFR 1303.5.4 Resistance to Collapse:5.4.1 When the product is placed in any manufacturersrecommended use position(s), latching and
36、 locking mecha-nisms designed to prevent the unintentional collapse of theproduct with the infant in it shall comply with either 5.4.1.1 or5.4.1.2.NOTE 1An attachment (such as a hook) where the weight of the childmaintains the engagement is not considered a latching and lockingmechanism.5.4.1.1 Prod
37、uct shall be designed with a single actionmechanism that shall not release when tested in accordancewith 7.1.1.5.4.1.2 Product shall be designed with a double actionrelease system. There are no force requirements for a doubleaction release system.5.4.2 During and upon completion of the test in accor
38、dancewith 7.4, the infant bath tub shall remain in the manufacturersrecommended use position(s), and the latching and lockingmechanism(s) shall remain engaged and operative after testing.5.4.3 During and upon completion of the test in accordancewith 7.4.1, 7.6.1, and 7.6.2, the infant bath tub acces
39、sory shallremain in the manufacturers recommended use position(s),and the latching and locking mechanism(s) shall remainengaged and operative after testing.5.4.4 Latching and locking mechanism(s) shall also complywith the requirements of this section after cycling has beenconducted in accordance wit
40、h 7.1.2.5.5 Scissoring, Shearing, and PinchingThe product, whenin the manufacturers recommended use position(s), shall bedesigned and constructed to prevent injury to the occupantfrom any scissoring, shearing, or pinching when members orcomponents rotate about a common axis or fastening point,slide,
41、 pivot, fold or otherwise move relative to one another.Scissoring, shearing, or pinching that may cause injury existswhen the edges of the rigid parts admit a probe greater than0.210 in. (5.33 mm) and less than 0.375 in. (9.53 mm) at anyaccessible point throughout the range of motion of such parts.5
42、.6 OpeningsHoles or slots that extend entirely through awall section of any rigid material less than 0.375 in. (9.53 mm)thick and admit a 0.210-in. (5.33 mm) diameter rod shall alsoadmit a 0.375 in. (9.53 mm) diameter rod. Holes or slots thatare between 0.210 in. (5.33 mm) and 0.375 in. (9.53 mm) an

45、uch compo-nent shall not be removed when tested in accordance with 7.2.5.8 Requirements for ToysToy accessories attached to,removable from, or sold with either infant bath tubs or infantbath tub accessories, or both, as well as their means ofattachment, shall meet applicable requirements of Consumer
46、Safety Specification F963.5.9 Labeling:5.9.1 Warning labels, whether paper or nonpaper, shall bepermanent when tested in accordance with 7.3.1 7.3.4.5.9.2 Warning statements applied directly onto the surfaceof the product by hot stamping, heat transfer, printing, woodburning, etc. shall be permanent
47、 when tested in accordancewith 7.3.1 and 7.3.5.5.9.3 Nonpaper labels shall not liberate small parts whentested in accordance with 7.3.6.5.10 Compliance of Multi-use ProductsFor an infant bathtub accessory that is also intended to be used separately as astandalone product covered under the scope of a
48、nother ASTMor other standard, it shall also comply with the applicablerequirements of that standard.5.11 Infant bath tubs and infant bath tub accessories mustcomply with the applicable requirements of the ConsumerProduct Safety Improvement Act.6. Performance Requirements6.1 Restraint SystemProducts
49、may have a permanent orremovable passive crotch restraint as part of their design. Theyshall not have any additional restraint system(s) which requiresaction on the part of the caregiver to secure or release therestraint.6.2 Static LoadThe infant bath tub shall not break, be-come permanently deformed or damaged, or fail to complywith any of the other requirements of this consumer safetyspecification when tested in accordance with 7.4.6.3 Specific Requirements for Suction CupsInfant bathtubs that utilize individual suction cups as a meth
