3、yeth-ylene of raised temperature (PE-RT) plastic hot- and cold-water tubing and distribution systems components made in onestandard dimension ratio and intended for 100 psig (6.9 bar)water service up to and including a maximum workingtemperature of 180 F (82 C). Components are comprised oftubing, fi

4、ttings, valves and manifolds. Tubing may incorporatean optional polymeric inner, middle or outer layer. Testing offittings and PE-RT tubing to the requirements of this standardindicate that these fittings are appropriate for use with PE-RTpiping systems. Requirements and test methods are includedfor

5、 materials, workmanship, dimensions and tolerances, burstpressure, sustained pressure, oxidative resistance, temperaturecycling tests, bend strength and environmental stress cracking.Also included are tests related to system malfunctions. Thecomponents covered by this specification are intended for

6、usein residential and commercial, hot and cold, potable waterdistribution systems.1.2 The text of this specification references notes, footnotes,and appendixes which provide explanatory material. Thesenotes and footnotes (excluding those in tables and figures) shallnot be considered as requirements

Terminology3.1 Terminology used in this standard is in accordance withTerminologies F412, D1600, and D2749 unless otherwisespecified. The abbreviation for polyethylene of raised tempera-ture is PE-RT. Plastic tubing denotes a particula

28、r diameterschedule of plastic pipe in which outside diameter of the tubingis equal to the nominal size plus18 in. Plastic pipe outsidediameter schedule conforms to ANSI B36.10.3.2 standard dimension ratio (SDR), na specific ratio ofthe average specified outside diameter to the minimum speci-fied wal

29、l thickness (D0/t) for outside diameter-controlled plas-tic pipe, the value of which is derived by adding one to thepertinent number selected from the ANSI Preferred NumberSeries 10. F4123.2.1 DiscussionFor PE-RT-tubing, it is calculated bydividing the average outside diameter of the tubing in inche

30、s orin millimeters by the minimum wall thickness in inches ormillimeters. If the wall thickness calculated by this formula isless than 0.070 in. (1.78 mm) it shall be arbitrarily increased to0.070 in. except for sizes516 in. and smaller. The SDR valuesshall be rounded to the nearest 0.53.3 Definitio

31、ns of Terms Specific to This Standard:3.3.1 hydrostatic design stress (HDS), nthe estimatedmaximum tensile stress the material is capable of withstandingcontinuously with a high degree of certainty that failure of thetube will not occur. This stress is circumferential when internalhydrostatic water

32、pressure is applied. For materials withHydrostatic Strength Classification 3 or 4 per SpecificationD3350, the HDS is equal to the hydrostatic design basis (HDB)times the design factor (DF) for water. 38、he hydrostatic design stress codecontains less than two figures, a zero is used before the number.3.3.3.1 DiscussionFurther information regarding testingand approval can be obtained from the National SanitationFoundation or other accredited laboratory.4. Classification4.1 TubingThis specification co

39、vers one PE-RT tubingmaterial in one standard dimension ratio, 9.0, and by amaximum continuous use temperature that shall be 180 F(82 C), and by nominal tubing sizes from18 through 6.4.2 FittingsThis specification classifies fittings, includingmanifolds, intended for use in systems with PE-RT tubing

40、, bya maximum continuous use temperature that shall be 180 F(82 C) and by nominal sizes from18 through 6 on the basis ofresistance to burst pressure, hydrostatic sustained pressure,excessive temperature and pressure, and thermocycling.5. Materials5.1 GeneralThe polyethylene used to make tubing shall

41、be virgin plastic or reworked plastic, or both, as specified in5.4, that meets the requirements of this standard and shall havea Plastic Pipe Institute (PPI) rating at 73 F (23 C) and 180 F(82 C). Fitting materials shall meet the applicable materialrequirements of a least one of the Specifications D

42、2683,D3261, F1055, F1807, F1960, F2080, F2159,orF2735.Polyethylene material used in fusion fittings shall meet therequirements of Table 1 and Table 2. Fittings shall be madefrom materials that are generally regarded as corrosion resis-tant.5.2 Basic Tubing MaterialsPE-RT tubing meeting therequiremen

43、ts of this specification are primarily defined by twocriteria namely, basic short-term properties, 5.2.1, and long-term hydrostatic properties, 5.2.2.5.2.1 Basic Short-Term PropertiesThis specification cov-ers tubing materials meeting the following requirements:5.2.1.1 ClassificationPolyethylene mat

44、erials suitable foruse in the manufacture of tubing under this specification shallbe classified in accordance with Specification D3350 as shownin Table 1.5.2.2 Long-Term Hydrostatic StrengthThis specificationcovers PE-RT tubing which is further defined on the basis oflong-term hydrostatic strength t

45、ests (Appendix X1). The ma-terial shall have a minimum pressure rating as per Table 2.5.3 Barrier LayersPE-RT tubing may incorporate an op-tional interior wall, mid wall or outer wall layer or a combi-nation of such layers of non-PE-RT material for the expresspurpose of providing gas barrier propert

46、ies to the pipe. Thetubing shall meet the minimum wall thickness requirements ofthis standard without using the barrier layer thickness in thedeterminations. PE-RT tubing with a barrier layer within thewall of the tubing (neither exterior layer nor interior layer)shall demonstrate a hydrostatic desi

47、gn stress (HDS) ratingequivalent to that of PE-RT tubing without a barrier layer. Thisdetermination shall be made in accordance with policies no lessrestrictive than those of the PPI TR-3 and meet the require-ments of this standard.5.4 Rework MaterialClean rework material of the samecommercial desig

48、nation, generated from the manufacturersown tubing production shall not be used unless the tubingproduced meet all the requirements of this specification. PE-RTtubing with a barrier layer shall not be used for reworkmaterial.5.5 Tubing Material DesignationThe tubing meeting therequirements of this s

49、pecification shall be designated PE-RT.5.6 CertificationTubing and fittings intended for use in thetransport of potable water shall be evaluated and certified assafe for this purpose by a testing agency acceptable to the localhealth authority. The evaluation shall be in accordance with therequirements for chemical extraction that are not less restric-tive than those included in NSF Standard 61. The seal or markof the laboratory making the evaluation shall be included onthe tubing.NOTE 2Further information regarding testing and approval
