3、4 in. multilayer polyethylene-polyamide(PE-PA) pipe, which is a two-layer pipe (PE pipe layer bondedto an inner layer of PA). The multilayer pipe covered by thisspecification is intended for use in piping applications wherethe permeation and chemical resistance of polyamide (PA)compounds may be usef

4、ul to protect the PE pipe layer, such asoil and gas producing applications that convey oil, dry or wetgas, and multiphase fluids.NOTE 1Permeability and chemical resistance depends on the type ofPA used. The PA layer delays but does not prevent liquid hydrocarbonseffects. Therefore, the hydrocarbon c

5、hemical design factor for thismultilayer pipe should be the same as for PE pipe layersee X1.2.1.2 Electrofusion and mechanical joints are typically usedfor this multilayer pipe.1.3 Unless specified otherwise, all the pipe requirements inthis standard are for the multilayer pipe.1.4 The PA layer is n

Terminology3.1 Definitions:3.1.1 De

20、finitions are in accordance with Terminology F412,and abbreviations are in accordance with Terminology D1600,unless otherwise specified.3.1.2 multilayer pipe, nplastic pipe comprised of morethan one layer.3.1.3 re-rounding equipment, ntooling used to reform thepipe and permanently reduce ovality to

21、5% or less.3.1.4 rounding equipment, ntooling, devices, clamps, andso forth, used to temporarily hold the pipe round while ajoining procedure (heat fusion, electrofusion, or mechanical) isperformed.4. Compound Requirements4.1 PE Compound RequirementsThe PE compound usedto make the PE pipe layer shal

22、l be virgin compound and shallhave a Plastics Pipe Institute (PPI) hydrostatic design basis(HDB) rating in accordance with PPI TR-3 using Test MethodD2837. The PE compound used for the PE pipe layer shall havea pipe material designation code of PE 4710 in accordance withPPI TR-3 Section F.7 and shal

23、l be listed in PPI TR-4, and shallmeet Specification D3350 requirements, with a minimum cellclass of 444474C.4.1.1 Additive ClassesPE compounds shall be Code C asdefined in Specification D3350. Code C compound shallcontain 2.0 to 3.0 percent carbon black as measured by TestMethod D1603 or D4218. The

24、 pipe manufacturer shall mea-sure carbon black content of the compound once per week.4.1.2 Chemical ResistanceTesting shall be conducted per6.10 on specimens of PE compound from compression moldedplaques or from a ring specimen prepared from pipe.NOTE 2This test is only an indication of what may hap

25、pen as a resultof short-term exposure to these chemicals. Contact the manufacturer forspecific chemical resistance information for this product.4.1.3 Elevated TemperatureThe PE 4710 compound shallhave an HDB at 140F (60C) of at least 1000 psi listed in PPITR-4.4.2 PA Compound RequirementsThe PA comp

26、ound shallbe a non-reinforced PA with the three-digit cell class (group,class, grade) in accordance with Classification D6779 perTable 1.4.2.1 Chemical ResistanceBased on the intended applica-tion and the corresponding need for chemical resistance, themultilayer pipe manufacturer shall provide chemi

27、cal resistanceproperties for the type of PA compound used in the PA layer ofthis multilayer pipe.4.2.2 ColorThe PA layer shall have a different color fromthe black PE pipe layer so that it can be easily recognized, suchas the APWA color coding system of yellow for gas and oillines.4.3 Rework Compoun

28、dTo prevent possible contaminationbetween PE and PA, rework (regrind) shall not be used for thepolyethylene and polyamide layers.4.4 DocumentationA documentation system to allow fortraceability of compounds used in the manufacture of themultilayer pipe product meeting the requirements of thisspecifi

29、cation shall exist and be supplied to the purchaser, ifrequested.5. Multilayer Pipe Requirements5.1 GeneralMultilayer pipe shall be supplied in eithercoils or straight lengths. Pipe that will be supplied in coils shallmeet the minimum test values required by this standard afterbeing bent to minimum

30、radius used for coiling and thenuncoiled or straightened prior to testing.5.1.1 The multilayer pipe shall meet all the performancerequirements of this standard. There shall be no delaminationof the bonded PA layer during coiling, shipping, handling oroperation of the multilayer pipe.4Available from

33、07 1325.2 WorkmanshipThe multilayer pipe shall be homoge-neous throughout each layer. The multilayer pipe shall be freeof visible cracks, holes, foreign inclusion, blisters, and dents,or other injurious defects. Each respective layer of the multi-layer pipe shall be as uniform as commercially practi

34、cable incolor, opacity, density, and other physical properties.5.3 Multilayer Pipe Dimensions and Tolerances:5.3.1 PE Pipe Layer DimensionsThe PE dimensions shallbe specified by wall thickness and outside diameter.5.3.1.1 DiametersThe average outside diameter of thepolyethylene pipe layer shall meet

35、 the requirements given inTable 2 when measured in accordance with 6.5.1.1.5.3.1.2 Toe-InWhen measured in accordance with 6.5.1.1,or in accordance with the manufacturers procedures formultilayer pipe dimensions, the outside diameter at the cut endof the multilayer pipe shall not be more than 1.5 % s

36、maller thanthe undistorted outside diameter. Measurement of the undis-torted outside diameter shall be made no closer than 1.5 pipediameters or 11.8 in. (300 mm), whichever distance is less,from the cut end of the multilayer pipe. The undistorted outsidediameter of the PE pipe layer shall meet the r

37、equirements ofTable 2.5.3.1.3 Wall ThicknessThe wall thickness of the PE pipelayer shall be as specified in Table 3 when measured inaccordance with 6.5.1.2.5.3.2 PA Layer Wall thicknessThe minimum wall thick-ness of the PA layer shall be 0.039 in (1.0 mm) and themaximum wall thickness shall be 0.047

38、 in (1.2 mm) whenmeasured in accordance with 6.5.1.2.5.3.3 OvalityThe ovality (cross section) of 3 in. IPS (88.9mm) and smaller multilayer pipe shall not exceed 5 % whendetermined in accordance with 6.5.2. Measurements of coiledmultilayer pipe shall be made on a sample cut from the coil,and in case

39、of disagreement, conditioned per 6.3.NOTE 3Other factors, that is, installation compaction, static soilloading, and dynamic vehicular loads may increase the ovality; therefore,5 % was chosen as the limit for the amount contributed by manufacturing,packing, in-plant storage, and shipping. Before or d

40、uring installation,coiled multilayer pipe larger than 3 in. IPS (89 mm) should be processedby the installer through re-rounding equipment that corrects ovality to 5%or less.NOTE 4Ovality is a packaging condition that occurs when roundablepipe is wound into a coilthe pipe flattens out as it is coiled

41、. Ovality iscorrected when joining equipment is applied to roundable pipe, or by fieldprocessing roundable pipe through re-rounding and straightening equip-ment during installation.5.3.3.1 LengthThe multilayer pipe shall be supplied instraight lengths or coils as agreed upon between the manufac-ture

42、r and the purchaser. The length shall not be less than theminimum length agreed upon when corrected to 73F (23C).5.4 Sustained PressureTo assure slow crack growth resis-tance of the multilayer pipe construction, the multilayer pipeshall not fail as defined in Test Method D1598, when tested inaccorda

43、nce with 6.6.5.5 Minimum Hydrostatic Burst Pressure:5.5.1 Multilayer pipe shall have a minimum burst stress of3200 psi (22.1 MPa) when tested in accordance with 6.7 usingthe wall thickness for the multilayer pipe.5.5.2 For multilayer pipe sizes above 4-in. nominaldiameter, the apparent ring tensile

44、strength test per 5.6 is anacceptable alternative.5.6 Apparent Tensile Stress at YieldMultilayer pipe shallhave a minimum apparent tensile stress at yield of 3200 psi(22.1 MPa) when tested in accordance with 6.8 using the wallthickness for the multilayer pipe.5.7 Adhesion (Bonding) of PE and PA Laye

45、rs:5.7.1 The PA layer shall be bonded to the PE pipe layereither with a bonding layer or by chemical means so that thepeel force adhesion requirement of 5.7.2 is met. Layers shallnot delaminate upon rapid decompression from the designpressure to atmospheric pressure at the design temperature inthe o

46、perating environment.5.7.2 When manufactured, the peel force adhesion for thePE pipe layer bonded to the PA layer shall be greater than 28.5lbs/in (50 N/cm), when tested in accordance with test methodISO 8510-2. At no point after installation shall the peel forceadhesion between the PE pipe layer an

47、d PA layer be less than20 lbs/in (35 N/cm).5.8 Permeability and CompatibilityThis is a multilayerpipe requirement, and the testing shall be conducted on themultilayer pipe. The multilayer pipe shall meet the require-ments of 5.8.1 and 5.8.2 after conditioning as per 6.9.2.5.8.1 PermeabilityThe pipe
