16、onstruction4.1 The 245/70R19.5 136/134M standard reference test tire shall feature the steel-belted radial technology, and a smooth-ribbedtread design, see Fig. 1 and Fig. 2, with technology as described in Sections 5 7.4.2 The tire shall be designed to conform to the European Tyre and Rim Technical
17、 Organisation (ETRTO) dimensions andtolerances for cross section and overall diameter found in the current ETRTO Standards Manual.44.3 The tire used for this specification is produced by Manufacture Francaise des Pneumatiques Michelin.5 The tire is stampedon the sidewall with the words: “Standard Re
18、ference Test Tire” and “F2871”.5. Materials and Manufacture5.1 The individual standard reference test tires shall conform to the manufacturers design standards.5.2 Tread compound, fabric processing, and all the steps in tire manufacturing shall be controlled to ensure minimum variabilitybetween tire
19、s.5.3 The standard reference test tire shall be as originally molded without any tread grinding or repairs.5.4 Since the formulation for tread compounds are proprietary, they shall be controlled by means of their physical propertiesgiven in Table 1.5.5 Dimensions, weights, and permissible variations
20、 are given in Section 7.5.6 The tire shall be of the following construction:5.6.1 One-ply sidewall construction (steel).5.6.2 A five-ply tread construction (one-ply steel and four steel belts).5.6.3 Black sidewall.6. 34、4 Determine the tire tread hardness by averaging at least four readings. Take these readings in the center of each rib,excluding the center rib. It is recommended that additional sets of readings be taken around the tread circumference.9.5.5 Apply the presser foot to the tire tread, as rapidly as po
35、ssible without shock, keeping the foot parallel to the tread surface.Apply just enough pressure to obtain firm contact between the presser foot and the tread surface. Read the durometer scale within1 s as soon as a stabilized value is obtained (see durometer manufacturer recommendations) after the p
36、resser foot has made contactwith the tread, but after the initial maximum transient needle deflection that may occur immediately after contact is made.10. Certification10.1 Upon request, the manufacturer shall furnish to the purchaser certification that the test tire meets this specification.10.2 Al
37、l tires under certification shall be subject to the manufacturers normal variation.11. Storage and Preservation11.1 The tires shall be stored under constant relative humidity conditions at a temperature not to exceed 21C (70F) and abovefreezing. The ozone level in the storage area shall not exceed 5
38、 parts/108 (or 5 mPa partial pressure), and no tires shall be storedwithin 9.1 m (30 ft) of electrical motors or other ozone-generating equipment. Storage of the tires shall be in subdued light, withthe tires stacked unbundled, no more than eight tires high on a pallet.12. Recommendations for Tire U
39、se and Operational Requirements12.1 It is recommended that the tire be used as a reference for braking traction, snow traction, and wear performanceevaluations, and for other evaluations where a standard reference test tire is determined to be required.12.2 The tire shall be mounted on an ETRTO meas
40、uring rim width code of 7.50 (for example, 19.5 by 7.50 rim).12.3 When irregular wear or damage results from tests, or when wear influences the test results, the use of the tire shall bediscontinued.12.4 Test results, such as measured friction force, may be influenced by tire tread depth or tread ha
41、rdness or both.The magnitudeof this dependence is a function of the water depth, pavement characteristics, test speed, tire aging effects, and break-in.13.
