Ordering Information5.1 Orders for commercial bulk milk dispensers in accor-dance with this specification shall include the followinginstructions:5.1.1 ASTM specification number and date
19、 issued,5.1.2 Quantity of units to be furnished,5.1.3 Type,5.1.4 Class,5.1.5 Size (Capacity).5.2 The following options should be reviewed, and ifdesired they should be also included in the order:5.2.1 When federal/military procurement(s) is involved,refer to the supplemental pages.5.2.2 When other t

Materials and Manufacture6.1 GeneralCommercial bulk milk dispensers shall con-form to the applicable doc
23、uments listed in Section 2. Materialsused shall be free of defects that would affect the performanceor maintainability of individual components or of the overallassembly. Materials not specified herein shall be of the samequality used for the intended purpose in commercial practice.The use of used o
24、r rebuilt products is not allowed under thisspecification unless otherwise specified.6.2 Hardware and FittingsUnless otherwise specified, allhardware and fittings shall be corrosion-resistant to Specifica-tions A167 or A176 or suitably processed to resist corrosion inaccordance with the manufacturer
25、s standard practice.6.3 Threaded PartsAll threaded parts shall conform toANSI B1.1.7. Physical Properties7.1 Design and ManufacturerThe commercial bulk milkdispenser shall consist of a refrigerated cabinet, area physicallysupporting the refrigerated cabinet, area below refrigeratedcabinet for dispen
26、sing milk into a container, and provision tolimit the condensate drippings on the counter top. The com-mercial bulk milk dispenser may include product monitoringsystem, product probe, and bulk milk container holders toaccommodate various types of containers if specified.7.1.1 Cooling SystemThe cabin
27、et cooling system shouldbe contained in the unit so no accidental contact can be madewith moving parts.7.1.2 Controls:7.1.2.1 A temperature control must be provided for thecabinet.7.1.2.2 If specified, control functions such as data/information transfer ports (RS232), product-monitoring capa-bilitie
28、s, and water-resistant construction may be provided.7.1.3 AccessoriesIf specified, accessories such as built-intrim and locks shall be provided.7.2 Standards and ComplianceThe commercial bulk milkdispenser shall conform to the requirements of ANSI/UL 471and NSF/ANSI 20. Acceptable evidence of meetin
29、g thoserequirements shall be current listing mark, label, or symbol ofrecognized independent testing laboratory and a current listingin the testing laboratorys appropriate publication.7.2.1 Certification of compliance with the standards cited inthis specification shall be provided, if required, in t

Sampling and Quality Assurance8.1 When specified in the contact or purchase order, sam-pling, testing, and quality assurance of finished units shall beperformed in accordance with the requirements specified inANSI/UL 471 and NSF/ANSI 20.9. Product Marking9.1 Each commercial bu
31、lk milk dispenser shall be providedwith an identification plate or plates.10. Packaging and Package Marking10.1 Each commercial bulk milk dispenser shall be pack-aged and packed in accordance with the manufacturers stan-dard commercial domestic packaging. The package shall bemarked showing the name
32、of the product, model number, serialnumber, and manufacturers name. When specified, packagingshall be in accordance with the requirements of PracticeD3951.11. Instruction Materials and Manuals11.1 Each commercial bulk milk dispenser shall be finishedwith an instruction manual and material, as may be

First Article InspectionS2.1 When required, the first article inspection shall beperformed on one unit. The first article may
35、 be either a firstproduction or a standard production item from the supplierscurrent inventory, provided the item meets the requirements ofthe specification and is representative of the design, construc-tion, and manufacturing technique applicable to the remainingitems to be furnished under the cont

Label PlatesS3.1 Bulk milk dispensers shall be provided with data-nameplates and instruction plates.S3.1.1 Data-Name PlatesIn addition to the manufacturerdata plate, bulk milk dispensers shall be provided with data-name plates readily visible to the operator during normaloperating use and s
37、o as to not adversely affect the life andutility of the unit. Plates shall be attached to the front of theunit in such a manner as to meet the applicable NationalSanitation Foundation sanitary requirements for this equip-ment. The plate shall contain the following information, whichshall be stamped,
38、 engraved or applied by photosensitivemeans:S3.1.1.1 National Stock NumberS3.1.1.2 Government Approved Manual NumberS3.1.2 Instruction PlateAn instruction plate shall be madeof an ANSI/UL accepted label material and shall be attached tothe front of the bulk milk dispenser. The instruction plate shal

Part Identifying NumberS4.1 The following part identifying numbering procedure isfor government purposes and does not constitute a requirementfor the contractor. Manufacturers CertificationS7.1 If the manufacturer has successfully furnished thesame equipment on a previous contact within the past threeyears, further inspection will not be required. The manufacturershall certify in writing that the equi
43、pment to be furnished is thesame as that previously furnished and approved and that nomajor design changes have been made to the equipment.S8. Naval Shipboard RequirementsS8.1 Power CompatibilityUnless otherwise specified, alltypes of bulk milk dispensers shall operate on nominal 115Volt, single pha
44、se, 60 Hertz, 3-wire alternating current asspecified in MIL-STD-1399/300.S8.2 AccessBulk milk dispensers for naval surface vesselsshall be capable of passing through a 26 in. (660 mm) wide by66-in. (1676-mm) shipboard hatch without major disassembly.Dispensers for submarines shall pass through a 25-
45、in. (635-mm) diameter circular hatch. Major disassembly of a bulk milkdispenser intended for submarine use is permissible.S8.2.1 Service AccessWhen establishing accessibility re-quirements, both physical and visual access must be providedalong with access for any tools, test equipment or replacement
46、parts needed. All serviceable components shall be accessiblefrom the front of the unit.S8.3 MountingIf provided by the manufacturer, bulk milkdispensers shall be equipped with minimum 4 in. (102 mm)high stainless steel legs capable of mounting to a dresser. Whenlegs are not provided as part of the u
47、nit, bulk milk dispensersshall be provided with holes for mounting. The frame shall beprovided with four symmetrically spaced, drilled or threadedbosses or retaining nuts for this purpose. Mounting bolt sizeshall be38 in. (9.5 mm) minimum for dresser mounting. Bulkmilk dispensers shall be provided w
48、ith four type 300 seriesstainless steel round legs, each a minimum 1 in. (25.4 mm) indiameter, 4 in. (102 mm) in length, for securing dispenser todresser.F2891 103S8.4 Environmental SuitabilityBulk milk dispensers shallbe capable of withstanding ships vibration and motion. Con-trols, switches, movin
49、g parts, and electrical circuits shalloperate under shipboard conditions without malfunction, bind-ing, excessive looseness, or damage. (See S8.6.3.)S8.5 Inclined OperationBulk milk dispensers shall oper-ate satisfactorily on surface ships when inclined at an angle of15 each side of the vertical in each of two vertical planes atright angles to each other, with no spillage of fluid or product.For submarines the angle of inclination shall be 30.S8.6
