Summary of Practice4.1 The process of installing a cleanout through a minimallyi

13、nvasive excavation begins with locating the 4 in. or 6 in. sewerservice lateral. 16、wer service pipe hasbeen exposed, a self-clamping saddle is prepared by applyinga specified amount of adhesive/sealant to the underside of thesaddle and a riser pipe is attached to the boss of the saddle. Theprepared saddle is lowered into the small diameter bore holeuntil it contacts the lateral se

17、wer service pipe; a downwardforce is applied to the riser pipe causing the side walls of thesaddle to spread and encompass more than 50-percent of thehost pipe. Surface restoration is minimal and in most cases isaccomplished the same day the cleanout is installed.5. Significance and Use5.1 This prac

18、tice is for use by designers and specifiers,regulatory agencies, owners, and inspection organizations whoare involved in the installation of a sewer service cleanout6. Components6.1 The saddle shall be formed as a semi-circle and shallencompass more than 180-degrees of the pipe circumference.The sad

19、dle shall have an inner diameter equal to the outerdiameter of the host pipe (see Fig. 1).6.2 The riser pipe shall be PVC pipe in accordance withSpecification D3034.6.3 Adhesive/Sealant shall be in accordance with Specifica-tion C920.6.4 The solvent cement shall be in accordance with PracticeD2855.7

Tools Required for Installation7.1 Vacuum excavation unitmobile piece of equipmentthat supplies sufficient volume of vacuum necessary to exca-vate a vertical bore hole.7.2 Coring equipmentA suitable coring saw with an outerdiameter18 in. less than the inner diameter if the riser pipe witha cutting

21、 blade suitable for the specific pipe material on whichthe cleanout has been installed.7.3 Power headpower device that rotates the coring saw.7.4 Extension rodsextension shafts that connect the powerhead to the coring saw. Available in various lengths accordingto the depth of the service lateral pip

22、e that the cleanout is beingattached to.7.5 Video cameraCCTV camera thats outfitted with asonde locating device and a compatible receiver. The camera issuitable sewer pipe conditions.7.6 WaterThe amount of water required to perform theexfiltration test is outlined in Table 1.8. Procedure8.1 The firs

23、t step in installing a trenchless sewer servicecleanout begins with locating the non-lined lateral sewerservice pipe. A method utilized and associated with thisinstallation process consists of inserting a video camera with aninternal sonde into the lateral service line remotely from themainline pipe

24、, or from the interior building cleanout. Atechnician at the surface uses a compatible receiver to locatethe signal from the camera/sonde to mark the specific locationfor the new cleanout as dictated by the utility owner (Refer toFig. 2). The identified location shall be marked by driving asteel pin

25、 in the soil when possible, or marking the surface withmarking paint. The video camera operator shall determine thecondition of the lateral pipe is suitable for the saddle placementprior to vacuum excavation to form the borehole.8.2 A borehole approximately 20-in. in diameter is createdby vacuum exc

26、avation. This is accomplished by cutting the soilby use of compressed air or by water jetting. The loosened soilis simultaneously drawn under a controlled vacuum throughsuction tubing and discharged into a mobile debris tank (Referto Fig. 3). This process continues until the lateral pipe isexposed.

27、The sewer service pipe is cleaned to remove debris.The cleaning process is accomplished by using an extendablewater pressure cleaning nozzle. A saddle is affixed to one endof a PVC riser pipe using solvent cement in accordance withPractice D2855. The elastomeric adhesive/sealant is applied tothe und

28、erside of the saddle. The pipe and saddle are lowereddown into the hole until the saddle contacts the pipe, a manualdownward force is applied to the riser pipe causing the sidewalls of the saddle to spread until the lower most portion of thesaddle extends a short distance beyond the spring line of t

29、hepipe causing the saddle to draw down onto the pipe producinga clamping affect.8.3 Once the saddle has been installed, (Refer to Fig. 4)approximately 4 oz. of water is introduced into the riser pipe inorder to activate the adhesive/sealant. 31、vated borehole is filled and compactedwith approved backfill material such as sand, the water test isperformed. Once the water test has passed, the crown of thelateral pipe is cored by means of a powered core saw that isinserted down the riser pipe into contact with the crown of thepipe removing the

32、 coupon within the core saw.8.3.1 Next, the annular space between the borehole and theriser pipe is filled with a minimum of 2 ft. of sand orpea-gravel. The remaining is backfilled as specified by theengineer to within 6-in. of the surface grade and an approvedcleanout cap is installed. The surface

33、is restored to match theexisting condition such as adding black soil with seed or sod,or concrete or asphalt. The adhesive/sealant is typically curedwithin 12 h of application and can be water tested any timethereafter. Once the saddle connection has been tested andconfirmed to be verifiably non-lea

34、king, the crown of the lateralpipe is cored and the cored coupon is retrieved through the corebit. The surface is then restored to its original condition8.4 Exfiltration Water TestPrior to coring for accessing thelateral pipe, an exfiltration water test shall be performed. Thisis accomplished by fil

35、ling the riser pipe with a minimumsix-foot column of water. The test shall be performed no lessthan 12-h from the time of affixing the saddle to the pipe. Thecolumn of water shall be left for a minimum of five (5)-minbefore commencing the exfiltration test. Next the water levelshall be measured from

36、 the top of the riser pipe for a five(5)-min period. No drop in water elevation will be allowed.The coupon shall not be cored until a verifiable non-leakingconnection has been confirmed. Should the leak test fail or notpass a repair is made by pouring a low viscosity epoxy resindown the riser pipe t

37、o a depth of 1 in. above the crown of thepipe. The epoxy resin leaches out through any breach in theseal sealing the breach. The epoxy resin cures and the leak testis performed again once the test passes then the coring processas described above is repeated. The crown of the pipe is nevercored openi

38、ng until the leak test has been satisfied proving averifiable non-leaking connection between the saddle and thelateral pipe has been made.9.
