Scope1.1 This standard provides an alternative to the use ofconcrete footings for the purpose of installing steel postframework to support chain link, exp

Terminology3.1 Definitions of Terms Specific to This Standard:3.1.1 anchormeans of stabilizing vertical fence frame-work members with underground support equal to or greaterthan a concrete footing.3.1.2 drive anchorsteel members driven into the groundto support f

8、ence framework post.3.1.3 drive anchor clamp bracketpressed steel fitting thatsecures the drive anchors to the post.4. Materials4.1 Drive anchor clamp bracket to be pressed steel, mini-mum of 11 ga. 1 in. wide, minimum 1.2 oz/ft2hot dipped zinccoating. Bracket secured using38 in. diameter bolts.4.2

9、Drive anchors.4.2.1 Industrial/commercial applications require all drivensteel anchors, including round or square sections, to have equalor greater strength characteristics as the historical 112 in. 112 in. 18 in. steel angle irons. Whichever shape chosen musthave a yield strength of 35,000 psi, a m

10、aximum bendingmoment of 6,462 lb/in., a minimum 1.2 oz/ft2zinc coating, anda gripping surface area of 3 in.24.2.2 Residential applications for fences up to 60 inches inheight require 1 in. 1 in. 18 in. steel angle having aminimum zinc coating 1.2 oz/ft2, a yield strength of 35,000 psi,or alternate s

11、teel shapes of equal strength, coating, and surfacegripping area.5. Installation5.1 The installer shall investigate the various conditions ofthe site, such as terrain contours, soil characteristics (texture,density, moisture content), frost line, amount of rainfall,velocity of wind, and related fact

12、ors to ascertain if driveanchors are applicable.5.2 Infringement of anchors on property owned by others. Inthis situation the anchors may be inserted parallel to the fenceline, rather than perpendicular. In performance tests, there islittle difference in the orientation of the blades.5.3 The procedu

13、re to install bolted drive anchors includesthe following steps:5.3.1 Under normal conditions, drive the post plumb to aminimum depth of 24 in. plus an additional 6 in. for each 1 ftincrease in the fence height over 4 ft. Climate, soil conditions,or local regulations may require greater depth.5.3.2 W

14、ith a pointed shovel, cut a small trench around thepost to a depth of about 6 in.5.3.3 Install anchor clamp bracket and slightly tighten boltsto hold bracket in place.5.3.4 Drive anchors, at about a 45 degree angle to the post,to depth below grade.1This test method is under the jurisdiction of ASTM
