16、, na device intended for the removal ofliquid by evaporation from processed or unprocessed foodscraps and limited amounts of cardboard, paper, and biode-gradable food service wear.3.1.1.1 DiscussionWaste material is loaded into a me-chanically agitated tank which is heated, via immersion heatersin a
17、n oil bath, to evaporate any liquid contained in the wasteproduct. The evaporated liquid is conveyed by a closed-loopblower system through a condenser. The condensate is thendrained to a sanitary sewer system and the dry air is reheatedand pumped back into the dehydrator tank to accept moreevaporate
18、d liquid. Dehydrators are not intended for processingglass, china, metal, wood, clam, or oyster shells. Dehydratorsmay consist of the following principal parts: tank, motor,agitator paddles, condenser, heaters, blower, condensate pump,discharge door, input door, and casters.4. Classification4.1 Gene
19、ralDehydrators shall be of the following type,size, and options as specified.4.2 Type, Size, and Options:4.2.1 Type ACapable of processing up to 140 lb (63.6 kg)per day.4.2.2 Type BCapable of processing 141 to 240 lb (64.1 to109.1 kg) per day.4.2.3 Type CCapable of processing 250 lb (113.6 kg) perda

28、e FittingsShall conform tothe requirements specified in Specifications A126.7. Design and Construction7.1 The dehydrator shall be complete and ready for conden-sate line routing and installation. The dehydrator requires nowater connections and is complete with a power cable. Thecontrols for the dehy
29、drator shall comply with the requirementsof UL 508, and Specification A126.7.2 BlowerBlower shall be of corrosion-resistant materi-als. Solenoid or motorized valves shall be fully automatic andsuitable for 450F inlet air temp and 100F ambient temp.7.3 TankTank shall be of corrosion-resistant steel w
30、ithminimum sheet metal thickness of 0.070 in. (1.78 mm). Anytank frame structure shall be of corrosion-resistant steel withminimum metal thickness of 0.120 in. (3.0 mm).7.4 Mixing ShaftEach dehydrator shall be supplied with asuitable mixing shaft. Shaft shall be of corrosion-resistantmaterial.7.5 Mi
31、xing PaddlesEach dehydrator shall be suppliedwith a corrosion-resistant steel mixing paddles bolted onto themixing shaft.7.6 CondenserThe condenser shall be of corrosion-resistant steel with fin tubes of stainless steel.7.7 Mixing Shaft SealThe seals shall prevent soil andliquid leakage out of the d
32、ehydrator tank.7.8 Air HeatersThe air heater is to preheat the air enteringthe dehydrator tank to 320F to accept the evaporated liquid.F3215 1627.9 Immersion HeatersThe immersion heater shall heat anoil bath that conveys heat into the dehydrator tank to 300F toevaporate any liquid contained in the w
33、aste.7.10 Drive MotorThermal overload protection shall beprovided either on the motor or in the control circuitry.Overload protection shall require manual reset to restart themotor.7.11 CastersThe dehydrator shall be supported by at leastfour swivel casters of adequate capacity to support the equip-
34、ment plus a full load of waste product.7.12 Plating, Coating, and PaintingDehydrators or theirindividual components, if not made of corrosion-resistant steelor corrosion-resisting materials, shall be plated, coated, orpainted for corrosion protection in accordance with the manu-facturers standard pr
35、actice.7.13 Wiring, Controls, and Circuit Protective DevicesAllwiring, controls, and circuit protective devices shall be inaccordance with, UL 508A, or NFPA 70. The main electricalenclosure shall be of NEMA 4X construction and shall beprovided with a main fused or circuit breaker disconnectdevice.8.
36、 Operation Requirements8.1 The dehydrator tank mixing shaft motor shall notoperate if the input door is not in the closed position.Dehydrator mixing shaft motor shall stop and require a manualrestart if the input door is opened during operation.8.2 The dehydrator shall enter a “cool down” stage upon
37、completion of a batch prior to discharging. This period shouldbe long enough to allow for the contents of the tank tosufficiently cool before discharge.9. Electrical Requirements9.1 The equipment and controls shall meet the requirementsof UL 508A, and NFPA70. The dehydrator shall operate on thepower
38、 characteristics (current, voltage, phase, frequency)specified.9.2 ControlsAll control equipment shall be capable ofoperation in an ambient room temperature of 115 6 9F (46 65C).9.3 Wiring and Circuit Safety DevicesThe dehydratorshall be delivered with a power cable with the end user tosupply a NEMA
39、 rated plug of minimum necessary capacityaccording to the current and voltage specified.10. Lubrication Requirements10.1 Means for effective and adequate lubrication shall beprovided when required. Lubricating points shall be readilyaccessible, and the dehydrator shall be lubricated with theproper a
40、mount of lubricant prior to delivery.11. Finish Requirements11.1 The dehydrator shall be treated and painted in accor-dance with the manufacturers standard practice. All surfacesof the machine, other than corrosion-resistant materials, shallbe protected against corrosion in the use environment and s
41、hallpresent a neat appearance.12. Performance Requirements12.1 Performance test methods will be developed at a futuredate.12.2 Energy performance test methods will be developed ata future date.13. Test Methods13.1 SignificanceThe purpose of this test method is todemonstrate the ability of the unit t
42、o meet the capacityrequirements and to insure that there is no leakage duringoperation.13.2 ProcedureThe machine shall be tested at full loadcapacity in accordance with the manufacturers operatinginstructions. The machine shall function as intended withoutinterruption or malfunction.13.2.1 During th
43、e test, the energy in kW-hours (megajoules) shall be recorded and reported for information only.14. Certification14.1 Certificate of conformance to the standards cited in thisspecification shall be provided to the purchaser if required inthe purchase document.15. Product Marking15.1 Machine Identifi
44、cationIdentification shall be perma-nently and legibly marked directly on the dehydrator or on acorrosion-resistant material securely attached to the machine atthe source of manufacture. Identification shall include themanufacturers model, serial number and name, and trademarkto be readily identifia
45、ble. In addition, information required bythe third party certification body shall be included on the dataplate.16. Machine Manuals16.1 The following information shall be supplied in themanuals:16.1.1 Installation instructions.16.1.2 Operating guide.16.1.3 Maintenance procedures.16.1.4 Service parts
46、list.16.1.5 Electrical schematics.16.2 Manuals shall be in accordance with SpecificationF760.17. Packaging and Packing Materials17.1 The dehydrator shall be packaged and packed inaccordance with Practice D3951.18. Quality Assurance18.1 Unless otherwise specified in the contract or purchaseorder, the
47、 manufacturer is responsible for the performance ofall requirements as specified in the contract or order.
