Significance and Use4.1 The utilization of recycled materials in non-pressurethermoplastic pipe presents a potentially large outlet for thiswhat is typically classified “was
20、te” material. The proper useand qualification of this material is critical in assuring itslong-term performance from both a structural and durabilitystandpoint.4.2 This practice defines minimum requirements and testingprotocols and frequencies for these recycled materials withrespect to their utiliz
21、ation in final thermoplastic pipe products.Each specific pipe standard has unique criteria that must be metin addition to the items described in this practice.4.3 The purpose of this specification is for characterizationof recycled plastics only and does not establish performanceguidelines for such
22、materials. Product specifications may beused in conjunction with this specification to establish perfor-mance specifications for a defined end-use and specific mate-rial type.5. Materials and Manufacture5.1 Post-Consumer and Post-Industrial Recycled ResinPipe Products:5.1.1 The pipe and fittings sha
23、ll be made of PE recycledplastic compound as defined in Guide ISO 15270 meeting therequirements of the product specification.5.1.1.1 Material sampled from finished PE pipe shall betested for physical and mechanical properties as specified in theappropriate product pipe or fitting specification.6. 24、w Material Sampling Frequency6.1 Raw Material Sampling frequencyIncoming raw ma-terial samples shall be collected for each shipment. Thefrequency and sample size shall correspond to the classificationof incoming material stream and size of shipment. The samplesshall be tested to charactize the mater
25、ial properties of the lot.6.1.1 Reprocessed materials:6.1.1.1 For truckload sized lots collect a minimum of 0.5 lb225 g sample from a minimum of 8 random boxes within thetruckload. The eight random samples shall be combined andhand mixed in a suitably sized container to ensure samplehomogeneity. Tru
26、ckload lot sizes shall not exceed 45 000 lbs18 150 kg of raw material.6.1.1.2 For railcar sized lots, collect a minimum of 1.0 lb450 g sample from each compartment of the railcar. Eachrailcar compartment shall be considered a lot. In no case shallthe railcar compartment lots be greater than 65 000 l

Finished Product Sampling Frequency7.1 Finished Product Sampling FrequencyThe selectionof the sample or samples of the pipe and fittings shall be asagreed upon between the owner and the seller. I
32、n case of noprior agreement, any samples selected by the testing laboratoryshall be permitted.7.1.1 Finished Product Material Validation Test Frequency:7.1.1.1 A minimum of one finished product sample shall becollected for every 45 000lb 18 150kg of product produced orevery 24 h, whichever comes fir

Material samples fromfinished product shall be tested to meet the material require-ments of the product specifications.NOTE 2Pipe and material compounds from finished product samplesare tested to demonstrate pipe properties and capture changes in materialblends to validate the final material for
34、mulation meets the material andmanufacturing requirements of the product specification.8. Inspection8.1 GeneralInspection of the recycled material shall be asagreed upon between the owner and the manufacturer as part ofthe purchase contract. Unless otherwise specified in the con-tract or purchase ag
35、reement, the manufacturer is responsiblefor the performance of all inspection and test requirementsspecified herein.8.2 NotificationIf inspection is specified by the owner, themanufacturer shall notify the owner in advance of the date,time, and place of testing of the pipe or fittings, or both, so t
36、hatthe purchaser may be represented at the test.8.3 AccessThe inspector shall have free access to thoseparts of the manufacturers plant and testing laboratory that areF3308/F3308M 182involved in work and testing performed under this specifica-tion. The manufacturer shall afford the inspector all rea
37、sonablefacilities for determining whether the pipe or fittings, or both,meet the requirements of this specification.8.4 Production LotThe manufacturer shall maintain re-cords to identify the production line, date, resin compound andproduction run for any pipe selected by the inspector fortesting. Wh
38、en agreed upon by the owner and manufacturer thepipe inspected shall be taken from a lot shipped to the ownersproject.9. Certification9.1 When specified in the purchase order or contract, amanufacturers certification shall be furnished to the owner thatthe products were manufactured, sampled, tested
39、, and in-spected at the time of manufacture in accordance with thisspecification and have been found to meet the requirements.When specified in the purchase order or contract, a report ofthe test results shall be furnished.10.
