7、escence. Luminescence is theemission of absorbed radiation as light, either as fluorescence or phos-phorescence. Most fluorescence occurs at longer wavelengths than thelongest wavelength of absorption. Its time delay is approximately onthe order of 108s. Phosphorescence, which is from a different ty
8、pe ofexcited state than fluorescence is at longer wavelengths than fluores-cence; its time delay is within the range of 104to 10 s. Low-temperature luminescence is conducted in a rigid matrix at tempera-tures below ambient, usually liquid nitrogen temperature (77 K). Thislow-temperature luminescence
9、 oil analysis procedure provides emis-sion or excitation spectra or both, that are used to match spilled petro-leum oil to a suspected source. Pub-lished in Vol 11.02, May 1992.D-19 Proposal P 241, Proposed Test Method for Determination of SemivolatileOrganic Compo
18、unds in Water by Gas Chromatography/Mass Spec-trometry (GC/MS). This proposed test method covers the determinationof various organic compounds. Problems have been associated withthe following compounds covered by this test method: 3.38-dichlorobenzidine and 4-chloroaniline can be subject to oxidativ
19、elosses during solvent concentration; n-nitrosodiphenylamine, hexachlo-rocyclopentadiene, and 1,2-diphenylhydrazine may decompose in thegas chromatographic inlet or elsewhere; and a- andg-hexachlorocyclohexane, endosulfan I and II, endrin, and the alkylesters of phthalic acid are subject to decomposition under the alkalineextraction conditions.
