12、y to provide a standard form of coded identification of equipment entities for the purpose of efficient information exchange related to the interconnection and interoperability of telecommunications networks within the North American Telecommunications System. The code sets within this standard will

However, a manufacturer may elect to use this standard for its product identification. 2 DEFINITIONS The following definiti

This definition refers to a group of facts taken as a unit; thus it is used with a singular verb. 2.3 data composite: A collection of data elements treated as a unit. 1Telcordia Technologies (“Telcordia”) or its equivalent is such a maintenance agent. At the tim

Exclusions are: land and buildings, network and premises cable, other material/supplies, station equipment, furniture and office equipment, motor vehicles, and general tools and work equipment. 2.6 equipment entity: A unique equipment within a family and sub-family of e

20、quipment. 2.7 equipment frame: A structural unit of hardware that contains smaller units of hardware. 2.8 equipment plug-in: Equipment plugged into an equipment mounting or other plug-ins. 2.9 equipment wired: Equipment mounted in an equipment frame and cabled to a distribution or terminating point,

21、 or wired to another unit. 3 GENERAL Each data element shall consist of sequences of characters, each character being either an alphabetic (A-Z) or numeric (0-9). In the format layout in clause 5, character positions that require either alphabetic or numeric characters are represented by “A/N.” The

22、alphabetic characters shall be considered as case insensitive; that is, there shall be no distinction made between upper and lower case letters. However, it is recommended that the code be represented with upper case letters. 4 DATA ELEMENTS Clause 5 of this standard describes the equipment entity i
