4、6Statement on Use of AWS StandardsAll standards (codes, specifications, recommended practices, methods, classifications, and guides) of the AmericanWelding Society are voluntary consensus standards that have been developed in accordance with the rules of theAmerican National Standards Institute. Whe

5、n AWS standards are either incorporated in, or made part of, documents thatare included in federal or state laws and regulations, or the regulations of other governmental bodies, their provisionscarry the full legal authority of the statute. In such cases, any changes in those AWS standards must be

6、approved by thegovernmental body having statutory jurisdiction before they can become a part of those laws and regulations. In allcases, these standards carry the full legal authority of the contract or other document that invokes the AWS standards.Where this contractual relationship exists, changes

19、 requirethe approval of the Engineer or Owner. The employershall obtain such approval when required.C3.3 Qualification and Certification Department Re-sponsibilities. The Qualification and Certification De-partment shall complete the responsibilities defined inAWS QC7-93, 3.3.C3.4 Test Facility Resp

20、onsibilities. The Test Facilityis responsible for safety and health matters during testingat that location in addition to other requirements statedherein.C4. Provisions for TestingC4.1 Welding Procedure Specification (WPS). TheWPSs incorporated in this Supplement C shall be used toqualify welders to

21、 this standard, The WPSs in this sup-plement are for qualification of welders. Production weld-ing procedures shall be provided by employers inaccordance with AWS D9.1.C4.2 Test Facilities. The Test Facilities for this AWSWelder Certification program shall comply with the re-quirements of AWS QC7-93

22、, 4, Provisions for Testing.The Test Facility shall have been accredited according toAWS QC4. Standard for Accreditation of Test Facilitiesfor A WS Certified Welder Program.C5. Certification RequisitesCS.l Test ControlC5.1.1 Performance qualification test coupons shallbe welded in accordance with a

23、written WPS and thePerformance Test Description.C5.1.2 Performance Test Descriptions include weld-ing variables and define the limits of qualification foreach test.C5.2 Test SupervisorC5.2.1 Qualification testing shall be performed underthe direction of a person designated as the Test Super-visor in

24、 accordance with AWS QC4, Standard for Ac-creditation of Test Facilities for AWS Certified WelderProgram.C5.2.2 The Test Supervisor shall be responsible forthe performance qualification in accordance with thisSupplement C.C5.2.3 If during qualification testing, the Test Super-visor determines that t

25、he welder does not exhibit theskill to perform the test satisfactorily, the test may beterminated.C5.2.4 The Test Supervisor may allow a welder toretest immediately or may require additional training orpractice prior to retesting in accordance with C7, Retests.C5.2.5 The Test Supervisor shall be res

26、ponsible forenforcement of test shop safety rules, procedures, andcleanliness, as established by the Test Facility QA Manual.C5.3 Test Facility. The Test Facility conducts the quali-fication tests and prepares the test reports. The AmericanWelding Society issues the certification.C6. Performance Tes

27、tC6.1 Identification. The applicant shall be assigned anidentification letter, symbol or number, and this identifi-er shall be marked on the test materials and records.C6.2 Verification. Prior to the initiation of welding,the applicants photographic identification shall be veri-fied by the Test Supe

28、rvisor.C6.3 Safety Equipment. The applicant shall use per-sonal safety equipment applicable for the welding process.The safety requirements of the Accredited Test Facilityshall conform to the requirements of ANS1/ASC Z49.1.C6.4 Machine Adjustment. Before starting the quali-fication test, the welder

29、shall adjust the machine settingsto meet those of the WPS.C6.5 Material Check. The base material and filler metalidentifications shall be verified by the Test Supervisorprior to tack welding.C6.6 Fit-Up. The applicant shall assemble the specifiedtest assembly(ies) for welding in accordance with theW

30、PS. The test assembly shall be verified by the TestSupervisor. The Test Supervisor shall inspect each testassembly prior to welding in accordance with AWS D9,1.C6.7 Assembly Control. The Test Supervisor shall wit-ness the placing of each test assembly in the specifiedwelding position and shall mark

31、the test assembly, orsecure it, so that it remains in the specified position untilwelding has been completed.C6.8 Positioning. All cleaning, grinding, chipping ofslag or other in-process operations shall be performedwith the test assembly in the specified welding position.Evidence of removal of the

32、test assembly or movementfrom the original location, except by accidental means(subject to concurrence by the Test Supervisor), shall because for test termination.C6.9 Eye Correction. The Test Supervisor shall notethe use of and type of eye correction on the WelderQualification Test Record. The weld

33、ers certification cardshall also reflect eye correction use.C6.10 Power Tools. Any use, or lack of use, of powertools shall be noted on the Welding Qualification TestRecord by the Test Supervisor.C7. Examination Methods andAcceptance StandardsC7.1 All additional tests required by ANSI/AWS D9.1shall

34、be conducted under the supervision of the TestSupervisor.C12 Visual Examination. The test plates shall meetthe visual acceptance criteria for performance testing asdefined in ANSI/AWS D9.1. The visual examinationshall be performed by a current CWI without aid ofmagnification.C8. RetestsIf the welder

35、 performance test fails to meet the re-quirements a retest of each test failed may be allowedunder the following conditions:C8.1 Immediate Retest. No more then three immedi-ate retests shall be permitted. The retest specimens shallmeet all of the specified requirements.C8.2 Retest after Further Trai

36、ning or Practice. Aretest may be made, provided there is evidence that thewelder has had further training or practice. A completeretest of the types and positions failed shall be made.C9. Documentation of WelderPerformance QualificationThe performance qualification data and results of theexamination

37、 and testing shall be recorded on QC-WF1C.Records of applicants that meet the requirements shall beprocessed in accordance with AWS QC7-93.CIO. Period of EffectivenessC10.1 The period of certification is twelve months. Theperiod begins on the date of completion of the examina-tion results and signat

38、ure by the Test Supervisor. There-after, the certification shall be considered as remaining ineffect indefinitely unless:(1) the welder is not engaged in a given weldingprocess for which the welder is certified for a periodexceeding twelve months unless otherwise specified byANSI/AWS D9.1, or(2) the

39、re is some specific reason to question thewelders ability.C10.2 Indefinite certification in accordance with CIOmay be maintained by documenting the use of the weld-ing process in accordance with C12, Maintenance ofCertification.Cll. Identification/CertificationDocumentsThe welder certification card

40、is issued by AWS inaccordance with AWS QC7-93.C12. Maintenance of CertificationWelders may maintain their certification indefinitelyby verifying the use of the welding process(es). The useof the process(es) shall be verified by the welder submit-ting completed forms required in AWS QC7-93, 11,Mainte

41、nance and Certification each year as a minimum.Such forms shall be postmarked prior to the expiration ofcertification. The certification expiration date is extendedfor a period of 12 months, as defined in ANSI/AWSD9.1 from the date of the last use of the process(es), asdocumented on Form QC-WF3A, re

42、ceived and acceptedby the AWS Qualification and Certification Department.After the certification period has expired, without thewelder using the process, a single test need be made onlyin any thickness for each process in which the welder isqualified. Successful completion of such test restores allo

43、f the previous qualifications for the process tested.C13. Renewal of CertificationRenewal of certifications shall be in accordance withAWS QC7-93, 12, Renewal of Certification.C14. RevocationThe AWS Certification of a welder may be revoked inaccordance with the administrative procedures definedin AW
