4、s that have been developed in accordance with the rules of theAmerican National Standards Institute. When AWS standards are either incorporated in, or made part of, documentsthat are included in federal or state laws and regulations, or the regulations of other governmental bodies, theirprovisions c

In such cases, any changes in those AWS standards must beapproved by the governmental body having statutory jurisdiction before they can become a part of those laws andregulations. ScopeThis Supplement to the AWS QC7-93, Standard forAWS Certified Welders, provides a welder certificationmethod not specifically based on a code but which maybe acceptable for various codes. The rules for perform-ance qualification are as defined by the applicable spec-ification refer
21、enced in the WPS or as defined by theemployer in the WPS or accompanying documentation(acceptance criteria).Gl.l Program. The administrative rules for the Amer-ican Welding Society (AWS) Certified Welder Programare provided in AWS QC7-93. Test facilities participateing in the program are required to
22、 meet the provisions ofAWS QC4, Standard for Accreditation of Test Facilitiesfor AWS Certified Welder Program.G1.2 Exclusion. Neither AWS QC7-93, nor this sup-plement prevents or supersedes a manufacturer or con-tractor from continuing to qualify welders in accordancewith other standards or procedur
23、es. Manufacturers orcontractors may impose.supplementary requirements tothis standard as deemed necessary.G1.3 Safety Precautions. This document is not intend-ed to address safety and health matters regarding thetraining of certified welders. This document only coversthe rules of certification.G2. D
24、efinitionsThe terms used in this supplement are defined inANSI/AWS A3.0-89, Standard Welding Terms andDefi-nitions, and AWS QC7-93.G3. Responsibilities RegardingAWS Certified WeldersG3.1 Employers Responsibility. The employers ofAWS Certified Welders are responsible for the workperformed by their em
25、ployees. The employer may ac-cept the AWS certification without additional testing, ormay add requirements as deemed necessary to meet theirparticular needs.G3.2 Employers Obligation. Manufacturers or con-tractors about to employ or employing AWS CertifiedWelders should be fully aware of the provisi
26、ons of theAWS QC7-93 standard and this Supplement.G3.2.1 The employer is responsible for all work per-formed by their employees; and therefore, should verifythat the qualification(s) apply to the employers work.The employer shall determine specifically that theextent of qualification as stated on th
27、e AWS WelderCertification Card, and the accompanying documenta-tion encompass the welding to be performed.G3.2.2 The employer may obtain a copy of the weld-ers Performance Qualification Test Record, and otherrelated documents, required by this supplement from theAWS Q&C Department.G3.23 The welders
28、current status shall be verifiedwith the AWS Q&C Department.G3.2.4 The employer shall prepare and sign a certifi-cation record for each welder which shall include thecompleted Performance Test Description and test accept-ance criteria (if not a referenced published standard).G3.2.5 The employer shal
29、l specify the standard, orcustomer specification, and WPS for which the welder isto be qualified. This is to be accomplished by the employerG-lG-2providing the Accredited Test Facility, the WPS andacceptance criteria to be used for qualification testing.G3.2.6 The user of AWS QC7-93 may require thea
30、pproval of the inspector, engineer of record, or owner.The employer shall obtain such approval when required.G3.2.7 If the employer or inspector questions thewelders ability for a specific reason, the employer orinspector should file a formal documentation with theAWS Q&C Department in accordance wi
31、th AWS QC7-93,13, Revocation.G3 J AWS ResponsibilitiesG3.3.1 The AWS Q&C Department shall be respon-sible to maintain the following:(1) Application for AWS Certified Welder(2) Welder qualification test records(3) Decertification action reports(4) Maintenance of certification records(5) National Regi
32、stry of Welders(6) List of Accredited Test Facilities(7) Welding Procedure Specification (WPS)(8) Procedure Qualification Record (PQR)(9) Acceptance criteriaG3.3.2 The Q&C Department will provide, upon re-quest, individual welder verification of maintenance ofcertification.G3 J3 The Q&C Department w
33、ill provide databasesearches upon request. These searches will include onlythose authorizing public disclosure on the applicationform.G3.4 Test Facility Responsibility. The test facility isresponsible for safety and health matters during testing atthat location in addition to other requirements stat
34、edherein.G4. Provision for TestingG4.1 Welding Procedure Specification (WPS). TheWPSs used to qualify welders according to this supple-ment shall be provided by the employer to the Accredit-ed Test Facility. The employer may utilize AWS standardwelding procedures. Neither AWS nor the AccreditedTest
35、Facility has any responsibility in ensuring that em-ployer supplied WPSs, are applicable for productionapplications, or that successful welder qualification testresults will be obtained from their use. Providing awritten WPS for production applications is the responsi-bility of the employer.G4.2 Acc
36、eptance Criteria. Acceptance criteria forwelder qualification testing may either reference accept-ance criteria from recognized, referenced published stan-dards on the WPS document, or the employer may sub-mit written acceptance criteria to the Accredited TestFacility for use in evaluating their emp
37、loyees qualifica-tion test results. If provided by the employer, the accept-ance criteria shall become a part of the WelderCertification Record and must accompany the applicationand supporting documents for record purposes by AWSQ&C Department.G43 Test Facilities. The test facilities for the AWSWeld
38、er Certification Program shall meet all of the re-quirements of AWS QC4.G4.3.1 The Accredited Test Facility shall have theresponsibility to forward a copy of the welders certifica-tion test procedure (WPS/PQR) and qualification testacceptance criteriaif not a referenced published stan-dard to the AW
39、S Q&C Department. AWS standardwelding procedures are excluded from this requirement.In addition, for test procedures used to certify more thanone welder, only a single submission of the procedurerevision used is required.G5. Qualification Test RequirementsG5.1 Test Control. Performance qualification
40、 test cou-pons shall be welded in accordance with a written WPSas indicated in G4.1.G5.2 Test ResponsibilitiesG5.2.1 Qualification testing shall be performed underthe direction of a Test Supervisor. The Test Supervisorshall be a current AWS Certified Welding Inspector(CWI) in accordance with AWS QC1
41、, Standard for Qual-ification and Certification of Welding Inspectors.G5.2.2 The Test Supervisor shall be responsible forthe performance qualification in accordance with thisSupplement.G5.2-3 If during qualification testing the Test Super-visor determines that the welder does not exhibit the skillre
42、quired to perform the test satisfactorily, the test may beterminated.G5.2.4 The Test Supervisor may allow a welder toretest immediately or may require additional documentedtraining or practice prior to retesting in accordance with7. Retests.G5.2.5 The Test Supervisor shall be responsible forenforcem
43、ent of test shop safety rules, procedures, andhousekeeping as required by the Test Facility QA Manual.G5.3 Qualification. The test facility is responsible forthe actual qualification of the candidate welder. The TestSupervisor attests to the application of specified testG-3variables and acceptance c
44、riteria provided or referencedby the employer.G6. Performance TestG6.1 Identification. The applicant shall be assigned anidentifying letter, symbol, or number coded to the appli-cant, and this identifier shall be marked on test materialsand records.G6.2 Verification. Prior to the initiation of weldi
45、ng,the applicants photographic identification shall bechecked by the Test Supervisor.G6.3 Safety Equipment The applicant shall use per-sonal safety equipment applicable for the welding proc-ess. The safety requirements of the Accredited TestFacility shall conform to the requirements of ANSI/ASCZ49.1
46、, Safety in Welding and Cutting, and shall be fol-lowed by the welder.G6.4 Material and Equipment Check. The energysource, base material, filler metal, and fluxes and gasesshall be checked by the Test Supervisor prior to tackwelding and initiation of joint welding.G6.5 Fit-Up. The applicant shall as
47、semble the speci-fied test assembly(ies) for welding in accordance withthe requirements of the WPS. Test pieces may be assem-bled and tack welded in any position. The Test Supervi-sor shall verify the test assembly prior to welding inaccordance with the requirements of the WPS.G6.6 Assembly Control.
48、 The Test Supervisor shall wit-ness placing of each test assembly in the specified weld-ing position and shall mark the test assembly or secure itsuch that it remains in the specified position until weld-ing has been completed.G6.7 Positioning. All cleaning, grinding, chipping ofslag, or other in-pr
49、ocess operations shall be performedwith the test assembly in the specified welding position.Evidence of removal of the test assembly or movementfrom the original location, except by accidental means(subject to concurrence by the Test Supervisor), shall because for test termination.G6.8 Examination and Testing Methods andAcceptance StandardsG6.8.1 Visual Examination. The test specimens shallmeet the visual acceptance criteria as provided in G4.2.The visual examination shall be performed by a CertifiedWelding Inspector.G6.8.2 Mechanical Testing.
