、imensions 3 Publication referred to Inside back coverBS1188:1974 ii BSI 04-1999 Foreword This British Standard, prepared under the authority of the Sanitary Appliances Industry Standards Committee, has been metricated in accordance with the metrication programme of the British Standards Institution.

、 The recommendations for the co-ordination of dimensions in building as laid down in BS2900 “Recommendations for the co-ordination of dimensions in building. Glossary of terms”, and BS4011 “Recommendations for the co-ordination of dimensions in building. Basic sizes for building components and assem

、blies” are embodied where appropriate in this standard. The metric values are given in SI units; for further information reference should be made to BS3763 “The International System of units (SI)” and PD5686, “Theuse of SI units”. The revision of this British Standard has been aimed at retaining the

、 main dimensions of the previous issue, but allowing manufacturers freedom of design within these requirements. To this end the dimensions have been listed in tabular form and any illustrations likely to be misconstrued as indicating design have been eliminated. The materials known as stoneware and

、earthenware have been omitted as they are no longer used in an appreciable quantity. The British Standards dealing with the quality of material, and finish, of vitreous china, taps and wastes suitable for these wash basins are as follows: BS504, Drawn lead traps. BS1010, Draw-off taps and stopvalves

、 for water services (screwdown pattern). BS1184, Copper and copper alloy traps. BS3380, Wastes for sanitary appliances and overflows for baths Part 1.
