Clause 4 is being deleted from th
9、e revision of BS1892-2.6:1972. This Section of BS 1892 applies to equipment for weight training or fitness training. Equipment for competition is not included and is subject to a specification laid down by the International Weight-Lifters Federation. The main change to this revision has been the inc
10、lusion of benches for use with weight training equipment together with stability and strength tests for benches. A British Standard does not purport to include all the necessary provisions of a contract. Users of British Standards are responsible for their correct application. Compliance with a Brit

This standard does not apply to equipment for competition use. The req
13、uirements for benches in clause 7 also apply to abdominal boards and incline or recline benches. NOTEThe titles of the publications referred to in this standard are listed on the inside back cover. 2 General requirements Weight training equipment shall comply with the requirements of BS 1892-1 excep
14、t in so far as they are modified by this Section. 3 Bars 3.1 Dimensions Bars for use with dumbells and barbells shall be manufactured in nominal lengths of300,380,450,1 370,1 520 or1 830 mm and shall have nominal diameters of either 25mm or 28mm. 3.2 Material Bars shall be manufactured from solid br
15、ight bar complying with BS 970. 3.3 Finish The ends of the bars shall be either deburred or radiused to a minimum radius of 3mm to remove sharp corners. NOTEThe bars may also be plated. Any finishing process shall not affect the strength of the bars. 4 Sleeves and grips 4.1 Sleeves Sleeves shall be
16、supplied in the following minimum lengths: a) 800mm for bars 1 370mm in length; b) 1 070mm for bars 1 520mm in length; c) 1 220mm for bars 1 830mm in length. Sleeves 1 220 mm in length shall be knurled in three places as shown in Figure 1. NOTEOther sleeves may also be knurled. 4.2 Grips A cast grip
17、 made from material complying with grade 220 of BS1452 shall be provided and shall comply with the minimum dimensions given in Table 1. The central grip shall have either a knurled or serrated finish and shall be either deburred or radiused to a minimum radius of 3mm to remove sharp corners. Table 1
18、 Minimum dimensions of sleeves or grips 5 Retaining collars 5.1 General Barbells shall be supplied with both inside and outside collars. Dumbells shall be supplied with outside collars. In all cases the method of securing the collars shall meet the performance requirements specified in 5.4. 5.2 Fixe
19、d collars If dumbell and barbell sets are supplied with collars that are permanently fixed, the fixing shall be by welding or by the fitting of steel dowel pins so that the weight discs cannot be removed. NOTEDumbells and barbells with fixed collars improve safety and reduce the risk of weight discs
20、 being lost or stolen. 5.3 Screws A spanner or wrench shall be supplied for tightening. 5.4 Performance requirement When a mass of 10kg is dropped over a vertical distance of 300mm onto the collar, the collar shall suffer no damage, e.g. breakage or pieces split off. 6 Weight discs 6.1 Materials Wei
21、ght discs shall be manufactured from cast iron complying with grade 220 of BS1452. 6.2 Dimensions Weight discs shall have a hole of nominal diameter 26mm in the centre for use with bars of 25mm diameter, and shall have a hole of nominal diameter 29mm for use with bars of 28mm diameter. 22、scs shall be made to the nominal sizes given in Table 2. 6.3 Manufacture Weight discs shall be manufactured to the following requirements. a) There shall be a recess between the boss and the rim. 24、f the weight discs shall be deburred or radiused to a minimum radius of 3mm to remove sharp corners. e) The largest weight disc of a set shall be on the inside with the smaller weight discs graduating to the outside. f) If weight discs have a colour coding it shall be as given in Table 2. 25、ight discs g) If weight discs are supplied with a rubber tyre or covered with rubber then for the 20kg disc any rubber tyre or rubber covering shall not increase the diameter specified in Table 2. 7 Benches 7.1 Dimensions The dimensions of benches shall be as shown in Figure 2. 7.2 Materials If the
26、bench is of bolted design the joints shall use either high tensile steel bolts complying with grade 8.8 of BS 3692 or screws with self-locking nuts made from high tensile steel complying with grade 8 ofBS 3692, with nylon inserts. The board forming the top of the bench shall be constructed from lami
27、nated plywood having a minimum thickness of 12mm. The board shall be fixed to the frame by means of machine screws or bolts into metal inserts in the board. Woodscrews or self-tapping screws shall not be used. 7.3 Construction The weight stands shall rest on the floor. The stands shall be either adj
28、ustable or have one or more storage points (see Figure 3 for minimum height). The locating pins shall be fitted with a locking device. If the bench is constructed with the weight supports less than 1 000mm apart, it shall be widened at floor level in order that the requirement of 7.4 is met. Benches
29、 shall be padded with a foam having a minimum thickness of 25mm and a minimum density of 3.63kg/m 3 . The foam shall be covered. NOTEA spotting platform may be provided behind the weight stands. 31、.9:1986 4 BSI 09-1999 7.4 Performance requirements Benches shall comply with the following performance requirements. a) When a load of 440kg is applied, midway along the length of a horizontally placed bench, there shall be no permanent distortion to the bench. NOTEThe test can be conveniently carri
32、ed out by placing a short barbell carrying weight discs at each end as shown in Figure 4. Precautions should be taken to ensure that the barbell does not roll along the bench. b) When a 1 370mm long barbell is loaded with weight discs to a total mass of 110kg and clamped in its maximum out of centre
33、 position over the bench, as shown in Figure 3, then the bench shall not overturn. c) When a barbell of total mass 200kg is dropped over a distance of 150mm with the adjustable stand set in its highest position there shall be no failure, e.g. breakage of locking pins. NOTEThe above requirements also
34、 apply to abdominal boards and incline or recline benches. 8 Information to be supplied by the manufacturer The manufacturer shall supply the following information with weight training equipment: a) for bars, sleeves and grips the full specification of the materials used; b) for collars, the full sp
35、ecification of the materials used and the type of screws provided; c) assembly instructions for benches, if supplied in kit form; d) information on care and maintenance. 36、ent shall be marked with the following information: a) the manufacturers name, trademark or other means of identification; b) the number and date of this British Standard, i.e. BS 1892-2.9:1986 1) ; c) for weight discs, the mass in kilograms. 1) Marking BS 1892-2.9:1986 on or in relation to a produc
