There are seve

It was considered that standardization of the pad interface with the chuck base jaw is most desirable in the interests of interchangeability. This standard whilst in metric units is based on North Ameri

Two classes of accuracy for seating in the chuck
12、 are specified; high precision and normal accuracy. NOTEThe title of the publication referred to in this standard is given on the inside back cover. 2 Definition For the purposes of this Part of BS1983 the following definition applies. collet pad a segment of a cylinder fitted to each base jaw of a
13、chuck (in place of the normal top jaw) so that when the chuck is closed the set of segments will grip the bar stock or other appropriate components (seeFigure 1) NOTE 1Collet pads are normally provided only for three jaw power chucks. NOTE 2The bar stock may be round, hexagonal, square or even of sp
14、ecial form. NOTE 3The jaw insert system provides a more accurate method of clamping with an increased resistance to “push back”. It is necessary therefore that the jaw system be shaped to locate the insert pad accurately both radially and axially. Some method of retention is required until the bar i

It is commonly accepted that the better form of chuck jaw insert is the type which fits directly to the inner end of a chuck base jaw so that there is a direct line of action for the clamping force. 3 Dimensions Dimensions shall comply with those given in Table 1. NOTEParticu
16、lar collet pad sizes have not been related to given chuck sizes. The manufacturer should therefore select the collet pad size to suit the bore of the chuck. 4 Accuracy requirements Accuracy requirements shall comply with those given in Table 2.
