2、f the Furniture and Household Equipment Standards Committee. It is a revision of BS 2049 : 1976 but it became effective only when the Oil Lamps (Safety) Regulations were revoked in 1992. BS 2049 : Part 1 : 1953 was superseded in 1963 by BS 3300, which was revised in 1974 and 1985. BS 2049 : Part 2 :

3、 1955 was superseded by BS 2049 : 1976. which took into account the experience gained in making appliances complying with BS 3300, and, where appro- priate, included tests and requirements which were in line with those of BS 3300. This revision of BS 2049 was prepared to clarify certain of the requi

4、rements and test methods and to take into account technical advances. The fuel used in the appliances covered by this standard, C1 burner fuel in accordance with BS 2869, is now more correctly termed paraffin and all previous references to kerosene have been amended accordingly where C1 burner fuel

5、is intended. Users of this standard may wish to note that all domestic paraffin lighting appliances, intended for indoor use and operating at no greater than atmospheric pressure in the fuel container, offered for sale in Great Britain are required to comply with the Oil Lamps (Safety) (Revocation)

6、Regulations 1992. These regulations are based on BS 2049 and are consistent with it. Certification. It is strongly recommended that in view of the nature of this specification, manufacturers and pur- chasers should make use of the certification facilities described on the inside back cover of this s
