Method150C is one of a series of methods described in BS2782 for assessing the effect of temperature (particularly low temperature) on the properties of non-rigid plastics materials. It is an editorial revision of method104C of BS2782:1970, which is being withdrawn. The othe

8、r methods in this group which have been published are as follows. Method150A: Determination of stiffness in torsion as a function of temperature; Method150B: Determination of cold flex temperature of flexible polyvinyl chloride compound; Method150D: Cold crack temperature of film and thin sheeting.

9、WARNING NOTE. This method does not necessarily detail all precautions necessary to meet the requirements of the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act1974. Attention should be paid to any appropriate safety precautions, and the method should be operated only by trained personnel. 1 Scope This method des

10、cribes a procedure for assessing the effect of relatively low temperatures on the stiffness of polyvinyl chloride sheet of thickness not exceeding0.9mm. NOTEThe titles of the publications referred to in this standard are listed on the inside back cover. 2 Principle Method150C measures the extension

11、of a test specimen under a tensile stress of10.3MPa at5 C. 3 Apparatus The apparatus shall be such that a tensile stress of10.3MPa, calculated on its original cross-sectional area, can be applied to the specimen. It shall be possible to increase the stress uniformly from zero at20.7 0.4MPa per min.

12、Two grips with an initial free length of127mm between them shall be provided for applying the force to the test specimen and there shall be a device for measuring the extension of the127mm length of test specimen between the clamps to the nearest1%. The apparatus shall include a cooling bath maintai

The cooling medium shall consist of a mixture of one volume of industrial methylated spirit 1)complying with BS3591 and three volumes of water, to which mixture, solid carbon dioxide shall be added as necessary to maintain t

The thickness of the specimen shall be the thickness of the sheet which shall not exceed0.9mm. 5 Number of test specimens Three specimens sha

Set the grips on the apparatus127 1.3mm apart and thread the specimen through them. Tighten the upper grip

17、on to the specimen so that the central127mm portion of the specimen will be between the grips. Attach a20g mass to the lower end of the specimen to keep it taut and then tighten the lower grip. Completely immerse the specimen in the cooling medium. For sheet of thickness not exceeding0.4mm the time

18、of immersion shall be30 1s. For sheet of nominal thickness exceeding0.4mm but not exceeding0.9mm the time of immersion shall be60 2s. At the end of the appropriate period of immersion a force shall be applied to the specimen increasing from zero at a uniform rate so that a tensile stress of10.3MPa i

When this stress is reached, read the extension of the specimen to the nearest1.3mm. 1) It should be noted that the use of industrial methylated spirit is governed by the Methylated Spirits Regulations1952 (S.I.1952, 2230).BS2782-1:Method 150C:1983 2 BSI 11-1999 Take care to ensure
