This International Sta
4、ndard is incorporated into BS2782 Methods of testing plastics: Part 11: Thermoplastics pipes, fittings and valves, as Method1121C, for association with related test methods for plastics materials and plastics piping components. In this context, attention is drawn to BS2782-11:Method1121B:1997, which
5、 is the dual-numbered version of ISO161-1:1996 Thermoplastics pipes for the conveyance of fluids Nominal outside diameters and nominal pressures Part 1: Metric series. These standards are included among these test methods because they provide the basis for calculation of test pressure/wall stress re
6、lationships required by some of the other methods. This British Standard, together with BS ISO4065 and BS ISO11922-2 when available, will partially supersede BS3867:1987, which will become obsolescent and retained only to support existing British Standards. The UK participation in its preparation wa
7、s entrusted to Technical Committee PRI/61, Plastics piping systems and components, which has the responsibility to: aid enquirers to understand the text; present to the responsible international/European committee any enquiries on the interpretation, or proposals for change, and keep the UK interest

20、t of ISO161, some of the abbreviations used have been derived from the French language and others from English. It has been agreed to maintain the same abbreviations in both the French and English versions of the document. For reference, the abbreviations are listed below with the originating langua
21、ge given first and the translation second: 1 Scope This part of ISO161 specifies the nominal outside diameters for inch-based thermoplastics pipes for the conveyance of fluids in pressure and non-pressure applications. It also specifies nominal pressure ratings, minimum required strengths and overal
22、l service (design) coefficients for thermoplastics pipes for pressure applications. It is applicable to smooth thermoplastics pipes of constant circular cross-section along the whole length of the pipe, whatever their method of manufacture or material of construction. 2 Normative references The foll

26、de diameter serves as a reference outside diameter, expressed in millimetres, to which the permissible deviations are applied as positive and/or negative values 3.2 nominal size, DN an alphanumerical designation of size which is common to all components in a thermoplastics piping system other than f
27、langes and components designated by thread size. It is a convenient round number for reference purposes 3.3 Outside diameter, d e 3.3.1 mean outside diameter, d em the measured length of the outer circumference of the pipe divided by ; 1) , rounded up to the nearest0,1mm 3.3.2 minimum mean outside d
28、iameter, d em,min the minimum value of the mean outside diameter specified in the applicable pipe standard.
