7、accordance with the latest edition of BS S 500. Material which has been finally hot-rolled prior to softening shall satisfy the tolerances applicable to hot-rolled mild steel sheet and strip. Material which has been finally cold-rolled prior to softening shall satisfy the tolerances applicable to co
8、ld-rolled mild steel sheet and strip. 1.3 Sulphur printing or deep etching tests. Samples shall be selected in accordance with the latest edition of BS S 500. 2 Process of manufacture The material shall be manufactured by an oxygen, open hearth or electric process, unless otherwise agreed between th
9、e manufacturer and the purchaser in accordance with the latest edition of S 500. 3 Chemical composition The steel shall contain: 4 Surface dressing The material shall be locally dressed in accordance with the requirements of the latest edition of BS S 500. 5 Condition 5.1 The material shall be suppl
10、ied in the softened condition after final hot or cold rolling. 5.2 Unless otherwise agreed the method of rolling shall be at the option of the manufacturer but shall be stated in the release note. 6 Final heat treatment Softening shall be carried out by heating at a temperature not less than 600 C a

12、 prepared in accordance with the relevant requirements of the latest edition of BS S 500 shall comply with the following. 1) Tensile test. The values in MN/m 2are to be regarded as the standard. 2) Hardness test. The hardness of the material shall be: 121 min./163 max. HB; or 125 min./170 max. HV. 3
