These are the forces which, when acting on a body of mass one pound, one ton or one kilogramme respectively, give it an acceleration equal to that of standard gravity. 1 Inspection and testing procedure 1.1 Th
9、is British Standard shall be used in conjunction with the relevant sections of BS 3S 100 as follows: 1.2 Sulphur printing or deep etching tests. Samples shall be selected in accordance with BS 3S 100, Section1, Clause 7.2.2. 2 Process of manufacture 2.1 The material shall be manufactured by an open
10、hearth or an electric process, unless otherwise agreed between the manufacturer and purchaser in accordance with BS 3S 100, Section 1, Clause 3.1. 3 Chemical composition 3.1 The steel shall contain: 4 Surface dressing The material shall be locally dressed in accordance with the requirements of BS 3S
11、 100, Section 1, Clause5.2. 5 Condition The material shall be supplied in the appropriate condition stated below unless otherwise agreed between the manufacturer and the purchaser in which case the condition in which the material is to be supplied shall be stated on the order. 14、l heat treatment The final heat treatment shall be: Normalize at a temperature between 830 C and 860 C (1 530 F and 1 580 F). 7 Mechanical properties 7.1 Mechanical tests. The mechanical properties obtained from test pieces selected and prepared in accordance with the relevant requirements of BS 3S
15、100 shall be: NOTE 1The 0.1 per cent proof stress is expected to be not less than 20 tonf/sq in (31 kgf/mm 2 ). NOTE 2These properties are based on a steel with a controlled McQuaid-Ehn grain size of 5 to 8. 7.2 Hardness. The hardness of finally heat treated material and parts shall be: 152 min./217
16、 max. HB. or 160 min./230 max. HV. 7.3 Reverse bend test. Round, square and hexagonal bars under ! inch diameter or minor sectional dimension and flat bars under ( inch minor sectional dimension shall be reverse bend tested in accordance with BS 3S 100, Section 1, Clause 16. 0.2 per cent proof stres
